"Dancing With the Stars" debuts Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
Here’s the fall cast. Four have reasonable Atlanta ties:
-Margaret Cho (”Drop Dead Diva”) – The part-time Peachtree City resident has had years of success as a stand-up comic and did a modest bit of dancing on the opener of season two of “Drop Dead Diva.” (right) She should at least be able to parry with the judges quite well.
- Bristol Palin. Yes, she’s famous thanks to her mom and her teen pregnancy. From a train wreck perspective, she’s the Kate Gosselin of this particular season. Could she dance any worse?
- David Hasselhoff. He lived here in Atlanta for awhile, not that anybody here is proud of that. The “Baywatch”/”Knight Rider” star theoretically can sing so can he do a paso doble, too?
- Florence Henderson. At age 76, the “Brady Bunch” star is the token old person this season. That means sympathy votes, at least for the first couple of weeks.
- Rick Fox. The NBA star and actor plays Harry on “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns” on TBS. That appears to be his Atlanta connection. Athletes almost always do well in this competition.
- Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino. The 27-year-old Staten Island breakout star of “The Jersey Shore” is probably going to spend more time with his shirt off than on during this competition. Does all that working out and fist pumping equal rhythm?
-Audrina Partridge (”The Hills”) – I don’t care either. But there she is.
- Jennifer Grey (”Dirty Dancing”) – With her background from “Dirty Dancing,” she theoretically should do well here. But that was 1987. Her career, unlike that of the late Patrick Swayze, did not take off.
- Brandy – The R&B star has done her fair share of reality shows including her current VH1 with her brother Ray J. So this is a natural. And given the track record of past R&B entertainers, she is expected to do well.
-Michael Bolton – The overwrought R&B singer hasn’t been seen much lately but he was hot in the 1990s. Hard to tell if he can dance. I doubt he’s done much in his videos (but I’m loathe to check again for sure.)
- Kurt Warner, the retired NFL quarterback who has played for the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals . As noted, athletes tend to do well.
-”Cory in the House” star Kyle Massey, a former Atlantan. He has that Disney background and has a music/rapping background, but I don’t know if dancing is his thing (as opposed to comedy).
Last spring, they had a cast of just 11 celebrities. This time, they have 12.
We’ll handicap the cast closer to the launch date of the show in three weeks.

@Michele- the 12 on the cast were announced last night. The two missing from the photo are male contestants (Bolton and The Situation). Both are listed in the article. Therefore neither Ali from the bachelorette or Lindsay Lohan could be contestants. Pay more attention to the article before commenting.
Yes, Nanoon of the North started it all !

Boy, I can remember when a reality show was consider the death of a performer’s/actor’s/artist’s career. Now, it seem like its a gateway to reviving or jump starting a person’s career. Who would of thunk it. Thanks Nanook of the North !

I thought “Dancing with the Stars” meant the professional dancers were the “stars.” Anyway, I will be curious to see how Palin dances – as all the other contestants. I don’t think she wanted to be as well known as she is, but she is making the most of it.
ALSO, I get so tired of people making everything political. Seriously people, you won’t watch a dancing show because of someones politics? I guess I can’t watch “Top Chef” because Leon Panetta was just a guest taste critic on it.

What a shame, that the gifted Mr. Ho felt a need to gratuitously slam Mr. Hasslehoff. In our society, we give everyone a second chance, from Tiger Woods to Bill Clinton to Michael Vick. Why not for David? Hopefully this job will be a turning point for him.

It will be an interesting show…and shame on you haters out there. Wonder how squeaky clean you all are. 99.9% of comments are the same, but I was compelled to read to the end..just like most will be compelled to watch DWTS to the end regardless of what you say.

This will be the first time I WON’T BE WATCHING DWTS! Don’t look now, but your political bias is showing. Two well known republicans: one last season and one this season. Really, this is the worst lineup I’ve seen. David Hasselhoff?! OMG. Watch your ratings continue to drop.
