‘Dancing With the Stars’ cast includes David Hasselhoff, Margaret Cho, Bristol Palin, the Situation, Rick Fox

"Dancing With the Stars" debuts Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.

"Dancing With the Stars" debuts Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.

Here’s the fall cast. Four have reasonable Atlanta ties:

DDD_EP201_BM-0324-thumb-580x344-156667-Margaret Cho (”Drop Dead Diva”) – The part-time Peachtree City resident has had years of success as a stand-up comic and did a modest bit of dancing on the opener of season two of “Drop Dead Diva.” (right) She should at least be able to parry with the judges quite well.

- Bristol Palin. Yes, she’s famous thanks to her mom and her teen pregnancy. From a train wreck perspective, she’s the Kate Gosselin of this particular season. Could she dance any worse?

- David Hasselhoff. He lived here in Atlanta for awhile, not that anybody here is proud of that. The “Baywatch”/”Knight Rider” star theoretically can sing so can he do a paso doble, too?

- Florence Henderson. At age 76, the “Brady Bunch” star is the token old person this season. That means sympathy votes, at least for the first couple of weeks.

- Rick Fox. The NBA star and actor plays Harry on “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns” on TBS. That appears to be his Atlanta connection. Athletes almost always do well in this competition.

- Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino. The 27-year-old Staten Island breakout star of “The Jersey Shore” is probably going to spend more time with his shirt off than on during this competition. Does all that working out and fist pumping equal rhythm?

-Audrina Partridge (”The Hills”) – I don’t care either. But there she is.

- Jennifer Grey (”Dirty Dancing”) – With her background from “Dirty Dancing,” she theoretically should do well here. But that was 1987. Her career, unlike that of the late Patrick Swayze, did not take off.

- Brandy – The R&B star has done her fair share of reality shows including her current VH1 with her brother Ray J. So this is a natural. And given the track record of past R&B entertainers, she is expected to do well.

-Michael Bolton – The overwrought R&B singer hasn’t been seen much lately but he was hot in the 1990s. Hard to tell if he can dance. I doubt he’s done much in his videos (but I’m loathe to check again for sure.)

- Kurt Warner, the retired NFL quarterback who has played for the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals . As noted, athletes tend to do well.

-”Cory in the House” star Kyle Massey, a former Atlantan. He has that Disney background and has a music/rapping background, but I don’t know if dancing is his thing (as opposed to comedy).

Last spring, they had a cast of just 11 celebrities. This time, they have 12.

We’ll handicap the cast closer to the launch date of the show in three weeks.

This is an interesting mix of people. I have noticed that taller men do not seem to win on this show. I do not know why they are picking The Hills and Jersey Shore cast members to dance!

Now they are just getting celebrities with a dancing background. the best season was the one with Jerry Springer, Emmitt Smith and Mario Lopez

When are they going to adhere to Truth in Advertising laws and put “Stars” in heavy quotation marks?

They have really started to scrape bottom. It’s getting harder and harder to want to watch the show. They are going way past the “D” list anymore. I agree they should take the word “stars” out of the title. Who are these “reality” show people with no talent. I only recognize few of them. Pretty sorry.

A really pitiful lineup of “stars”…I watched last season to cheer for Evan Lysacek but I see no one on this list that I have even a remote amount of interest in watching.

This is not a cast of stars by any means. I suspect I will not be watching this season….for the first time. AND..why Bristol Palin? Since when do unwed mothers of politicians score as stars?

Watch out for Florence Henderson. She’s got a performance background (including Broadway), and can dance up a storm. She may surprise a LOT of people.

The Hoff went to Marist. He moved to Chicagoland before he graduated. He can dance – mostly ballroom stuff.

Jennifer Grey has been dancing since her teens. Her dad would have her hang with the crew at his shows & she’s a trooper. It’s a damn shame that doctor in LA botched her rhinoplasty. That killed her career.

There’s my top three. Seriously.

They should change the name of the show to “Dancing with the Reality Stars” or “Dancing with People in the News” or “Dancing with People Known for their Scandalous Behavior.” Bristol Plain is not a star; however, I’m sure should could do better than Kate. Kate was a joke & a train wreck. If I could have voted against her, I would have. I don’t know why they say that everybody wants to see her. If she at least tried, it would have been a little different. But, I still don’t want to see Bristol or The Situation. How dumb that he calls himself (or his abs) that. Jennifer Grey is the one I’m most excited to see. Brandy’s a nice addition to the cast. I hope the “non-celebrity” celebrities drop off early in the season. I hope the 11th person isn’t Ali from the Bachelor – that’s another rumor. That would be far too many reality people! Oh, I heard something about Lindsay Lohan. No! If I didn’t like the professional dancers so much, I probably wouldn’t watch this show.

I agree with VG ..I watched for Evan and Anna…. After the absolutely horrible way the judges trashed Evan and Anna with such disrespect during the finale, I dont care if there is a good cast, the judges attitudes/behaviour make me want to throw up. It is true Nicole was a dancer(and they did it again with Jennifer Grey this time)..so unfair to all the rest, not to mention the blatant favoritism shown throughout the season. However, the judges knew that Evan/Anna had a much higher fan base that could very well have put Evan and Anna in first place if the finale scores had not been purposely downgraded….Others during the season, rec’d higher scores for lesser dances . Look at the current voting positions on the DWTS Wall voting…Evan/Anna 1 and 2..Nicole 25. The judges knew her fanbase was much smaller than Evan/Annas…so deliberately gave those horrible low scores. But it wasnt even the low scores that were the last straw for me..It was the cutting, demeaning comments by the judges that got to me. Evan and Anna did work out their differences and every interview before or after, they said so, and were proud of their dance..Len was just plain nasty and Carrie Ann was COLD and Bruno who had seemed to give genuine constructive criticism during the season…trashed them outright..no constructive comments at all. When I saw that, I KNEW the scoring was rigged to insure Nicole would win, whatever the huge voting fanbase of Evan/Anna was…I am so disgusted by this skewing of scoring I choose not to subject myself to their uncouth comments and call it “entertainment”… C’mon people…surely there is something else more worthwhile to spend hours on besides this lowgrade so-called entertainment… Finally, I feel really sorry for the pro dancers who have to put up with this kind of demeaning treatment towards them and their celebs..They have obviously made a compromise in themselves that being treated worse than servants for the sake of 15 min of fame must be worth it…Surely, advertising their talents elsewhere would be much less embarrassing and humiliating to themselves..I would never let anyone demean me that way…Come to think of it, I think we even have discriminatory laws against it in the work place….:-0 I intent to continue on with my life elsewhere.

@Deanna – I truly lol at your comment. That would result in the best train wreck in a long time! Then ABC or whoever could really do a new “reality” show instead of the “produced” crap they all have now. Sarah would swallow her tongue too!!! LOVE IT!

First 3 I like to see gone: The Knight Rider, Michael Bolton (can sing, but can’t dance), and Moesha.

The Final 3 I like to see: Carol Brady, “The Situlation”, and Baby (Better not put her in a corner).

Dancing with the “Stars”, HHHMMMMM than why is Bristol and the Jersey Shore douche on the show. This is really getting out of hand with these people. I guess it shows today that you can become rich by just doing the opposite of what you should be doing, teen pregnancy and acting like a dumb ass getting drunk and trying to score chicks..These people are FAR from being stars! I just don’t get it…The show is really swinging for the fences with these idiots..Am I the only one that see’s this?

Good bye to Dancing With the Stars. With Brisol Palin on, I won’t consider waching. Your poliics just canceled my viewing pleasure. This is just more television time for Sarah Palin, who is not an elected official, nor a movie star, nor even has a job. Yet is on tv every night.

I barely watched the show this past season–minutes if that. I agree, they are scraping the bottom with this ‘cast of characters’. Can’t wait for the Hoff to show up drunk to perform, though. and Bristol will be awesome with the baby on her hip and her baby daddy in the audience with Kathy Griffin. I predict the Jersey Shore kid will get arrested during taping and won’t get to finish. My vote is on Jennifer Grey–sympathy votes or not, she is the Dirty Dancing queen.

People – the Stars are the pro dancers – all now well known.
And – thanks, but no thanks! Before my wife started watching, I’d wait until the last 5-6 weeks, to avoid the old people, the fat NFL stars, the clowns. Now I’m stuck watching from the beginning. I like to see the camaraderie and growth, but the first few months are just filler.
I refuse to watch anything with the Falin’s parading across the screen. They are classless opportunists. And if Bristol was bad enough – it makes me ill to think of all the times Mother Falin’s face will be shown each week! UGH!!! They almost lost me last year with Kate 8 and the blonde train wreck. I will pass on this year.
I want to see real dancing. No filler, no judges trying to build suspense, and no phony phone votes. This show is for entertainment, and they will manipulate votes all they can to keep people watching.

Are they running out of stars? I thought dancing with the stars was to feature stars with no dancing experience. Even those stars with dancing experience, figure skaters, hip hop etc should not have won – they had an advantage over the rest of the cast.

Bristol Palin!!!!!! I thought she was the “Ultimate Representative” for teen mothers? She has been paid to do speaking engagements relaying how difficult it is to be an unwed teen mother. I bet they wish they had it so good! This just might promote more teen pregnancy, so they can be on Reality Shows! I now have 2 more hours each week to “Hunt Grizzlies”!

I believe the show will be a great success as it is every year. And what greater fun can you have on Monday night? And sometimes on Tuesday night also? In fact on any night?! You sour people must not like watching beautiful people dancing, both the pros as well as the celebrities. We wish them all the best rhythm. We also have much praise for the “invisible and silent” artists, the costume designers and makers, they are incredible! On DWTS even the judges are stars. They are great, too.
