AMC announced ts scripted zombie series “The Walking Dead” will debut on Halloween night at 10 p.m.
That’s no coincidence.
The creepy six-episode run was shot in Atlanta in the late spring. It’s based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, who bases the series in Atlanta. Frank Darabont (”Shawshank Redemption,” “The Green Mile”) is an executive producer and directed the 90-minute first episode.
The subject matter in this series is far different from those of AMC’s three other scripted series (”Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad” and “Rubicon”) but it’s clearly going to focus on character as much as gore.
Here’s the trailer where you can see downtown Atlanta prominently:

?
Sounds good from description, writers…but what’s with the happy music? Was that Neil Diamond?!
too bright and peaceful looking.
Oh and the beginning, (waking up in hospital after zombie infection with everyone gone) is ripped
from “28 days later”.

Looks like it will be worth checking out. AMC has a very good track record today of producing high quality original programming. Breaking Bad is quite possibly the bests thriller/drama on TV right now, so if this is close to that, its bound to be good. Also, the fact it is set in Atlanta is a bonus as well.

@Vendetta That’s how the story starts in the comic book this is based upon, I think.

Rodney, are there any “unscripted” zombie series?

The only real “walking dead” are the 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment of the United States Marine Corps. It’s a shame people don’t know the history of the distinction, but surely recall a comic book with the name.

I believe the opening scene of the sherif waking in the hospital was taken strait from the comic book. And 28 days later actually ripped it from the comic as well.

Why would anyone want AMC in HD? It has commercials!
