Is Dagmar Midcap leaving WGCL?
Newsblues.com is reporting that popular WGCL-TV CBS Atlanta weather reader Dagmar Midcap is leaving the station later this year, citing an unnamed inside tipster.
Midcap declined to comment and her news director Steve Schwaid is on vacation. Midcap joined the station around since 2006 and despite her lack of meteorology credentials, became popular for her looks, fashion and warm, silky voice. The station at one point even placed her on billboards around town.

Doug Richards, before he joined WXIA-TV, on his Live Apartment Fire, dubbed her popularity the “Cult of Dagmar.”

Channel 46 News is terrible. I have never watched Dagmar so no big whoop for me. 11 Alive News is awesome. Now that Jeff Hullinger is there, it’s even better. Once Monica retires, Channel 2 will go down the tubes.

I am shocked, simply shocked, at the lack of decorum demonstrated by these comments. Dagmar Midcap is an enterprising young woman in the fine tradition of American Capitalism. It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to do the weather. For all the fancy technical discussions, all we care about is what temperature will it be and should I take an umbrella. She will be missed.

OMG! Best news ever – first, they move Young and Restless to 3:00 so that people will watch the 4:00 news. I turn it OFF right after Y&R because I can’t stand to hear her voice – Hopefully, they will move Y&R BACK to 12:30 where it belongs.

What’s so wrong with an attractive woman who is a motorcyclist and outdoor person, who should be respected by the feminists for being successful and independent. Of course, as a member of the “cult of Dagmar” , I’ll be disappointed to see her go, but it’s a common occurrence. The really irritating aspect of 46 news is the “tough questions” format; they are so fixated on “tough questions” that they badger folks who should be left alone. Dagmar’s not the key issue with the show.

I don’t watch Channel 46 much…shoot I don’t watch it at all…but I got to tell you Dagmar would have been the only reason I can think of to have done so. Recall somebody – hopefully a media critic with a sense of humor – saying a while back that her ‘perkiness’ was a little too much to take at times. To which I said, what in hell do you mean, her ‘perkiness’ is the reason any of us would watch in the first place. I mean every time I see her ‘perkiness’ it gets my blood racing and I’m ready for the day, or night as the case may be.
Hopefully, she’ll land somewhere with a larger audience that, like me, admires ‘perky’ in a woman in a tight sweater.

She made it clear she was not a meteorologist. She is an attractive TV personality who reports on the weather. Her appearance is an asset, live with it. Don’t belittle her because she makes something positive of her positive attribute.
