TV best bets with returns of ‘White Collar,’ ‘Psych,’ ‘The Closer,’ and end of ‘The Hills’

white-collar-590x590

Basic cable’s biggest show “The Closer” joins a couple of USA’s sturdy hits “White Collar” and “Psych” back to the air this week.

Baseball fans get the Home Run Derby tonight on ESPN, followed by the game on Fox Tuesday. There are five Braves players on the National League team, though Jason Heyward, the rookie phenom voted to be in center field, can’t play due to injury. (A possible sixth, Billy Wagner, said no because he was invited at the last second and decided to stick with his original vacation plans.)

Among new shows, there’s some sex (as in TLC’s “Strange Sex” Sunday), a few X-Files-type stories (SyFy’s “Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files” Thursday), a psychic’s life (SyFy’s “Mary Knows Best” Thursday), more cake stories (TLC’s “DC Cupcakes” Friday), a cop drama (TNT’s “Rizzoli and Isles” tonight) and a spy series (USA’s “Covert Affairs” Tuesday).

And MTV is finally killing off “The Hills” after six long seasons. Kristin invites Brody to her going away party. B-bye!

It’s the American league who has won the last 12 out of 13 … not the National League.

Why is it that none of the USA shows get nominated for anything? They are far more entertaining than any of the regular network shows. Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, White Collar and Psych are all fun to watch and are just plain good old entertainment. TNT also has The Closer, Leverage, Memphis Beat, etc. The old has beens should take note of what is really entertaining. The realty shows are truly mindless and should be relegated to one station only.
