Chilli talks about why she picked Bill on ‘What Chilli Wants’

Chilli and Bill in happy embrace. Does it last?

Chilli and Bill in happy embrace. Does it last?

Did Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of TLC fame actually find what she wanted on the recently concluded first season of VH1’s successful reality show “What Chilli Wants”?

Possibly. The final episode showed her deciding to date Bill, a tall dude with oodles of confidence. We don’t know his full name or what he does for a living.

Chilli, in a phone interview last week, didn’t provide any more illuminating details on that front or whether she’s even still dating Bill. (The show ended taping in January.) She did say in dating, “I’m taking my time, taking it slow. If it’s going to be, that time will come.”

Will you want to watch a second season of ‘What Chilli Wants”?

  • Yes! She was fun to watch!
  • Nope. One season was enough
  • Didn’t want to watch season one. Certainly won’t see season two.

TV One’s Omarosa dating game features two metro Atlantans

Ray-Lavendar-and-Omarosa-at dinner

Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth was such a memorably polarizing presence on “The Apprentice” six years ago that she has somehow kept herself in the spotlight simply being Omarosa.

Now, seemingly belatedly, she is getting her own dating show, thanks to network TV One and Donald Trump. “Donald Trump Presents The Ultimate Merger” debuts June 17 at 9 p.m. featuring a dozen men vying for Omarosa’s affection in Las Vegas.

Do you want to see Omarosa again on a reality show?

  • Yes! She’s a total guilty pleasure
  • No way! Enough is enough!

Two of those men come from metro Atlanta: 33-year-old R&B singer Ray Lavender (top left, with Omarosa) and 34-year-old record label owner Javis Dortch. On the first episode, Lavender had the lowest “compatibility” score on a written test but crooned a song to her that warmed her hearts. Javis came across better, charming and intriguing her. He also ranked among the top 3 in compatibility. But she was taken …

Hot 107.9 celebrates its 15th year with its latest Birthday Bash

young-jeezy

At age 15, Hot 107.9 is now older than many of its listeners.

It has frequently been a showcase of the Dirty South, with many acts coming back again and again, from Ludacris and Lil Jon to Young Jeezy (left, who dubs himself “Mr. Birthday Bash”) and Gucci Mane.

It is also a showcase for Hot 107.9, Atlanta’s first hip-hop station back in 1995. And though V-103 is a broader, more popular station, Hot has played many of these artists first, giving them an early leg up on their way to becoming big stars.

“It quickly went from a party to an event for me,” said Emperor Searcy, the afternoon jock who began as a club DJ for Hot in 1995 and has attended every Birthday Bash. For a lot of rap stars, being on the Birthday Bash stage is a coming of age, a signal that they’ve been accepted as hip-hop artists. (Artists don’t normally get paid to be on the show. It’s more of a thank you to the radio station.)

The first party was at Variety Playhouse with the late Biggie Smalls but quickly, …

Atlanta’s Tracey Bloom on ‘Top Chef: DC’ starting June 16

Atlanta has done very well recently on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” with two chefs reaching (but not winning) the finals: Richard Blais and Kevin Gillespie.

Tracey Bloom, who is the executive chef at Table 1280 in Midtown at the High Musuem, hopes to get at least that far.

“I always thought about trying out and after seeing three Atlantans last season, I thought I can do it,” she said. (She actually worked with season six contestant Eli Kirshtein for a brief time.)

She didn’t consult with past contestants before she participated but said she wished she had. But after the fact, she went to one of her favorite restaurants Pure Vida and talked to the chef Hector Santiago, another season six contestant. “He shook my hand and said, ‘Welcome to the ‘Top Chef’ family.’ He was like my brother. Nobody else can know what we went through. You can’t explain it to anybody. They just don’t get it.”

She has an impressive resume, working at Sia’s in Duluth, the Buckhead Life …

B.o.B.’s ‘Nothin’ On You’ tops in Atlanta for a third week

B.o.B.’s continued dominance of Atlanta radio hit a third week with “Nothin’ On You,” which was spun 316 times on six different stations, about the same as a week earlier.

But four songs are in position to take over in the next couple of weeks, including Ke$ha’s “Your Love Is My Drug,” Usher’s “OMG,” (left) Lady Gaga’s “Alejandrdo” and Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart.”

Not coincidentally, Groove 105.7 had a busy week, going much more current. It moved five songs into high rotation: “Alejandro,” “Your Love Is My Drug,” “OMG,“Jason DeRulo’s “In My Head” and “Break Your Heart.” The station also added B.o.B.’s “Airplanes” and Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” a remixed version of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” La Roux’s “Bulletproof,” Ne-Yo’s “Beautiful Monster,” Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire.”

The station also dumped Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone” and Christina Aguilera’s mediocre semi-hit “Not Myself Tonight” and cut five songs from high …

Conan O’Brien gives Atlanta much love

Conan O’Brien as a talk show host is an interesting embodiment of faux self deprecation, frequently mocking his heritage, his skinny “Slim Jim” legs and his ridiculous red shock of hair. Yet it’s his total self confidence in himself and his lightly absurdist sense of humor that helped get him the helm of “The Tonight Show” last year on NBC.

That dichotomy was in full force last night on his final “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on TV Tour” date at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. He blended songs with clips and jokes about his plight, noting that this is the first time people had ever paid to see him and he had hopes the audience would “sorta” enjoy him.

Sheree Whitfield hit with another lawsuit from another divorce attorney

sheree-whitfield 2010

Being Sheree Whitfield’s divorce attorney is apparently hazardous to the bottom line.

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member allegedly owes two separate law firms more than $180,000 in divorce-related fees.

She first hired Levine & Smith as her divorce attorney in 2006 against her now former husband and NFL player Bob Whitfield.

In early 2009, Steve Montalto of Levine & Smith sued Sheree, saying she owed him more than $87,000 in unpaid fees related to her divorce. That situation has not been resolved yet, based on recent court filings.

In an interview today, Montalto said she has “ignored and stonewalled any effort to respond to post-judgment discovery about her assets and income,” he said.

He has asked a judge to force her to respond and to threaten her with incarceration. “She thinks she’s above the law,” Montalto said. He also has liens against Bob, her ex husband, which he has ignored.

Her next divorce attorney, Weinstock & Scavo, began working with her in 2007.

On the set of AMC’s new show ‘Walking Dead’

zombie shot

AMC has been inviting media to check out production of its new show “Walking Dead,” based on the popular graphic novels. (No photos or video were allowed. The photo on the left was released and approved by AMC.)

We watched one scene from the first episode during a sweltering Monday afternoon in Grant Park right by the Atlanta Zoo. (You could faintly hear the lions.) The lead actor Andrew Lincoln plays cop Rick Grimes, who had just woken up from a coma and discovered the world had become populated with zombies. He arrives in his neighborhood and gets whacked in the head by a kid wielding a shovel. “I got the son of a bitch,” the kid tells his dad, thinking he got a zombie. “I’m going to strike him dead!” Grimes does not die, of course. He’s the lead character!

AMC signed on for a modest six episodes, which executive producer Frank Darabont (”Shawshank Redemption,” “The Green Mile”) told reporters today was more manageable than the usual 10 or 13.

“There’s a learning curve,” he …

Elle Duncan debuts today on V-103’s Frank and Wanda show

Elle duncan facebook

Elle Duncan joined the Frank and Wanda Morning Show today. Frank Ski also returned from a recent Rome trip with a group of students for his Frank Ski Foundation.

“This is amazing,” Duncan said at 6:05 a.m.. She woke up at 2:30 a.m., nervous about the new gig.

“I had everything laid out,” she said. “Makeup ready. Food ready. Cereal already in the bowl!”

“That’s just today,” Wanda said.

“I’ll get here,” said Duncan. “See if you can hologram me.”

Duncan had been doing mid-days and was moved to mornings to do sports and entertainment. Miss Sophia was let go recently. Duncan, 27, lowers the average age of Atlanta’s No.1 morning show significantly.

She did her first “Bust It” report, an entertainment summary at 6:47 a.m. featuring Joe Jackson blaming his wife for Michael Jackson’s death a year ago. She played a really long clip from Jackson. “Sounds like Joe has been invading that Schlitz Malt liquor,” Duncan said. “Joe Jackson is a desperate man.”

She also played a clip from …
