Wow. That was quite a moment when Chris Brown broke down singing “Man in the Mirror” on the BET Awards last night during his Michael Jackson tribute. Why did he get so emotional?

@Get Real- Why do BLACK PEOPLE have to be hood figures there are WHITE PEOPLE out here that have done far worse things. I would say the same thing if Chris Brown was white. I guess it ok for white men to beat on their wife – girlfriend and it to be shoved under the rug.

All black people don’t identify with the losers I mentioned. In fact, many think that those dregs of society are a huge problem in the Black Community as they are proped up and used to sell products to young people while using derogotory and shameful messages to get paid.

If Chris Brown were white I would say he is the same low life punk, who faked cyring last night to get back in good graces with women, to sell albums and make money- that he is a Black Man

Steven Segal and Charlie Sheen are punks and low lifes too and should have family members of the women they abused beat the hell out of them.

Color doesn’t matter to me, actions do.

A mistake is not beating a woman, getting out of a car pulling said woman out of car, beating her somemore then driving off-that’s a crime.

If there were no pictures you’d be saying she was lying or making excuses for him.

Fight for the innocenct not the gulty who can sing and dance really well.

@nypeacha – no public assumptions, as a journalist, you definitely should have known that there were NUMEROUS reports of her hitting him first. I googled enough articles to read about what happened. Not some news rags or gossip columns either. Maybe it was a slow news day and you missed it – but it was stated that she said so. As far as Chris with the public relations tour – i guessed i missed that because he went home and went into hiding -then it was stated BY RHIANA – that she went back to him-so we know he was with her for a couple of weeks-she however, decided she couldn’t do it-the only time I remember seeing him was after her appearances when he was on Larry King (who had gained the exclusive interview)

@browneyedqt – not a fool – stating the facts – i will not stoop to your level and call you anything – i am bigger than that – if you would go back and read my posts and what they were in reference to – you would see EVERYTHING I said – and in actually reading and comprehending my posts you would know that it was foolish of you to make the comments and call me a name.

BTW I have a daughter – I have let her know that she is to keep her hands to herself – I have seen women beat on men – however, men do not come forward because they see it as embarrassing. I never said it was OK to hit her, I also stated he should have walked away, BUT no one was in that car – it was reported she hit him FIRST (the FOOL said it again)-maybe that was his breaking point and we don’t know what transpired before or after that – we are only going by one version and guess who that version belongs to. Even when he appeared on Larry King – he NEVER told what happened that night.

I know of women who are hot headed and tempermental and all I am saying is that we as women need to know that we can’t keep putting our hands on someone and then we are shocked when they actually hit us back. Does it make it right for a man to hit a woman NO BUT Everyone has a breaking point, why do you think there is so much crime BLACK and WHITE related to it. Domestic violence is a SERIOUS issue – and if any woman feels like they are in danger – I pray that they stand strong and get out.

Bottom line, isn’t the justice system put in place to help rehabilitate people for their actions? He has done all that was required of him, it is OVER!!! They have both moved on and so should everyone else.

@itamazesme-your view on the justice system is wrong. It is not to rehabilitate, it is to PUNISH people for crimes, rehabilition is up to the individual.

For you to say you have a daughter and write the things you do is shocking. The evidince is clear, Chris Brown beat a woman. many women go back and continue that cycle.

Im glad the UK kept his behind out of thier country trying to dance for dollars.

Women like Jaunita Bynum and Rhianna should be applauded…if he hits you one time, you should leave.

I hope you are teaching your daughter that.

Not fake- he is an entertainer and would no want to squander an opportunity to “show-off” plus it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that he was trying to keep going- a fake would have brokedown and milked the breakdown! which he did not do. he is a singer not a trained actor. even a trained actor would have multiple takes to get a performance that “real” right! I am not necessarily saying that because it wasnt fake you should forgive him- just that it definitely was not fake. Also- that song is just emotional- i get choked up when i hear it and i dont believe i have to “look at myself in the mirror” !

@get real – yes it is to punish for your crime you commit, but it is to rehabilitate you as well – i guess when you go before the parole board to see if you can fit back into society – you don’t see that as if you have been rehabiliated? Because if you haven’t you don’t get out. No for me to have a daughter and write the things I do is not shocking it is keeping IT REAL!!! I teach and i have taught her several things including as I stated DO NOT put your hands on anyone. The UK is about money as well, and mark my words, after last night’s performance I promise you he will be over there soon. If there is a huge fan base and they see the profit it will happen, it is about business at the end of the day. For the record you are applauding Rhianna – you do know that after that beating she went back to him don’t you? I never condoned his actions, but I do believe in forgiveness. END OF STORY. I have questions for you – Do you know truly about OUR community? or are you just going by what is reported via the media? You seem to be stuck on only a couple of names as “positive” black people or are they the only ones you know?- i mentioned before the names you used have been involved in things of their own just NOT as public. While you are here to advocate for the BLACK community – let me ask you something. Who are the thugs or hoods selling meth in your community? Can you give us a community that we can use as an example? You only see what is portrayed in the media – you don’t see the good in our community – just this past April a young BLACK male 17 years old took his first solo flight in an airplane, he is a third generation pilot. His dad took his first solo flight at 16 and is now a Captain for delta, one of only a FEW BLACK pilots for delta, his grandfather is the one that opened the School because of his fascination with flying. That is just one of many stories – you NEVER see portrayed in the media – why? because the media is no more than a factual entertainment rag that knows if you show too much of the good stuff ratings take a dive – but show all the bad stuff and they soar – Blacks don’t own crime – and little BLACK girls are not the only ones that are NOT reporting abuse – why you went there I don’t understand. Domestic Violence, crime, entertainers who have done wrong – ALL of these are blind because they see NO COLOR.

I can assur that thugs and meth users in my community won’t have people rooting for them and are certainly not glorified.

@itamazesme-Any accomplishment of any race should be applauded. But it doesn’t erase or justify the garbage the music industry us putting out in the black community and the damage that it is doing to the young people or excuse Chris Browns woman beating behavior.

You forgive him. I’m not impressed

shut up aready, chris is a young man who made mistakes, and have ask for forgiveness. what about people that are still doing very, very wrong things in this world. and getting away with it.like child molesters and covering up police doing beatings. I’m a long beach resident of 15yrs and can say seeing alot of families being discriminated, i bet people would hide behind the door if the news showed up. how whites owners have discriminated a black family and disable son at 362 redondo , roscos chicken waffle on atlomtios st. in long beach wilson h. school prom of 2010 disaster. children millers hospital in long beach, is a good hospital to so many people say. wrong things do happen to patients their. i’m a witness to it. my 4yr old still is suffering behind the lost of his foot cover up. chris brown has suffer for what he did . and when chris showed his emotions we cried to, it was about michael jackson the song man in the morrior would be one of the hardest songs to song without crying since michael jackson death. hello wake up people. touching feelings from chris brown in memory of michael
He’s sorry for his past. god bless you all. peace

You don’t know if you are supporting or glorifying a woman beater or meth user as an entertainer. If they haven’t been caught and (gasp at the thought) the women are too afraid to report it.
Exactly what is this music which is in YOUR community as well doing to the Black community? What damage has it done to the young people. Unfortunately, our young BLACK and White, have made poor choices – these are mistakes they CHOSE to make. For example, If they want to wear the disgusting fashion of sagging (which by the way white kids do to) then it is a choice they made. These people are entertainers end of story – may not be your preference – some of it isn’t mine – but they are just that. And name ONE TIME Chris’ actions were given an excuse here today. Only thing people said was let it go and forgive him (which he doesn’t need from me or you). Conveniently, I see that you are spewing woulda’s, shoulda’s, and oughta’s, but not once have you given a valid reason why you feel the black community owns the negative or why you as part of the white community could have such audacity to point the finger into the community. I am not blind to the fact that there is wrong in my community but you are immune to the fact that it is in yours as well.

I never need anyone to be impressed with me, that is for idiots.

Have a great day Get Real

What is wrong with this world! Are you serious?!? The people that are calling Chris Brown out need to get an attitude check. People make mistakes. No one knows what Brown was doing on the stage except for him and God. I am sorry for the people who do not believe in God. But we all make mistakes. No matter if your famous, regular, black, white, young, old, we all do it. And for the people that believe in Chris I thank you. We need more of you in this world. I’m talking to everyone: If you have never sinned, made a mistake, lied, cheated, or whatever, then you can talk about Chris Brown. Get some sense. I am a teenager and I know better than that. If Brown made a mistake last night, let him make it so he can learn from it. People got the nerve to talk about him like they are perfect. No!!!! Nobody is perfect and you need to realize it. Chris Brown is human and he deserves respect no matter what he did in the past. So check yourself. See if you have the nerve to talk about a person because you don’t and everyone knows it. That’s what I have to say.

Excuses and finger pointing lead to doom. This blog was about Chris Brown. Charlie Sheen and Stven Segal should be able to work as should Chris Brown. Doesn’t change the fact all 3 are women beating trash.

He sings & dances pretty good for a guy that likes to beat on women. I heard his mother was beaten & he witnessed it as a child, He obviously is carrying on that behavior in his life as well. I guess he can act too!!!

People get real. What if your man or lady took your cell and just started going thru it I’m sure a fight will be in the making. Sometimes pushing and shoving usually end up ugly and thats what happened. Some of you need to think about all the dodo you have done and you’ll let it go.

Don’t get me wrong, what Chris did to Rhianna was inexcusable, but for you all that are still bashing Chris, God help you. He has forgiven that kid a long time ago. Lord help you if you ever do one thing wrong. Live “your” life, Chris is. I think yes it was emotional to be paying a tribute to someone he admired, but I think the breakdown was more about this past year of dealing with the bashing and unable to show that he’s made any kind of change ’cause y’all won’t let him. I wish nothing but the best for him and that he has truly learned that what he did was wrong and to continue changing for the better despite the haters that don’t want him to.

Listen up people there is only one “JUDGE” and he is in the sky, and although it is never okay to hit anybody “Chris Brown” won’t be the first and surely won’t be the last. Let’s not make Chris Brown the escapegoat or the poster child for the millions and billions of people who have and still are getting away with mental and physical abuse of others. I think it is time for everyone to get over it and “LET GO & LET GOD” handle this, and if you don’t have GOD in your life then let the courts do their job and make that decision.

What Chris Brown did was a lot worse than what Eliot Spitzer did. Anyway, I agree that you rarely read about Rhianna hitting Chris first. Doesn’t make what Chris did right, but you learn in elementary school that if you hit somebody, you just might get hit back.

Like many of you, when I saw his breakdown I had mixed emotions also. At first I wondered about his sincerity. After watching his performance tonight again, I do believe he was truly overcome with emotion. Imagine being the one who made a mistake that the world discussed and dissected. In no way making excuses for him because he error was not a good one. But I do know that we all make mistakes and I hope that he is given a 2nd chance.

First of all @hell bent and get real, I don’t support thug, but I do support forgiveness!! Again, why is it okay for Charlie Sheen, Jerry Seinfeld, and others to be with underage girls and beat their spouses and never suffer the fallout that Chris Brown has. Charlie Sheen is still very popular and so is Jerry Seinfeld. I don’t remember Jerry getting the fallout for sleeping with an underage girl. All is forgiven for them, so why not Chris Brown. He is a young kid who made a mistake, and hopefully has learned from it. I was physically abused for most of my marriage. I will never forget, but I have forgiven him, and I’m no longer with him. Please stop passing judgement on Chris Brown. He should be able to have a career, just like Rihanna. And for those who talk about talent, Rihanna has none.

Forgiveness does not mean that u condone something, everyone deserves forgiveness b/c God is required to forgive us if we ask to b forgiven so who r we as human beings to say someone doesnt need to be forgiven, and one more i feel like black people don’t necessarily hold thugs in high regard we are just a heck of a whole lot more willing to forgive than whites, maybe due to the fact that we have had to forgive throughout history for acts way worse than killing dogs r a domestic dispute between two very young adults. We have had to forgive for awful, unspeakable, and unbelievably evil acts committed on our ancestors so we’ve had plenty of practice at forgiving people…its just in our blood and on the contrary,it is acturally very theraputic to forgive because it’s about putting u back in control of the situation and not letting the other person r their actions control u any longer.

I became a fan of Chris Brown after he performed on the AMA’s several years ago immitating Michael Jackson and I was soooo impressed and even got chills watching his performance. He is truley a Michael Jackson fan and the fact that everyone is giving him crap about breaking down on the BET awards is stupid. He didn’t fake his breakdown.. Chris Brown had to perform a tribute to his idol, “Who wouldn’t get emotional?”

I think it was honest emotion. I cried while he was performing. Michael’s words were so profound that anyone who speaks those lyrics should be moved to change. Yes it was self reflective and maybe that’s why Chris cried, but I have noever beaten anyone up and I cried too.

We all have something we need to change. So why not start with the man in the mirror and ask him (or her) to change his ways. The message can’t be any clearer-lets try to make the world a better place! I feel you Chris Brown and it took true humbleness to sing such a spiritual song. Keep on keeping on bro man!
