Wow. That was quite a moment when Chris Brown broke down singing “Man in the Mirror” on the BET Awards last night during his Michael Jackson tribute. Why did he get so emotional?

SOOOOOO FAKE! Gotta admit he ALMOST had me. BUT, there were ABOLOUTELY NO TEARS…Just sweat runnin’ down his forehead. This was sooo STAGED. It was like his agent/PR person/label said “CHRIS, GO ON STAGE AND DANCE YOUR ASS OFF (REMIND PEOPLE THAT YOU’RE AN AWESOME PERFORMER), THEN FOR THE FINAL SONG (MAN IN THE MIRROR, MAKE THAT CHANGE) FAKE A BREAK DOWN TO SHOW REMORSE SO THAT IT “LOOKS LIKE” YOU’VE DONE SOME REFLECTION AND ARE NOW A CHANGED MAN! PLAY THE PUBLIC AND WIN YOU’RE FANS BACK!” So fake…I AINT BUYIN’ IT!

C’mon ya’ll. That was all an ACT. The fact is that he didn’t know the lyrics to the song and just couldn’t sing it. Even after his so-called breakdown he couldn’t sing the song. A complete act–but the dude can dance. As an MJ fan, I appreciated that.

I believe this was not a ploy for attention… when Chris Brown initially came out he said his biggest idol was michael jackson. When Usher sang at MJ’s memorial service no one bashed him for it. Leave CB alone… seriously its so ignorant and childish to gossip this way about him. What is done is done and let GOD forgive and help him with what he has done. I believe CB was really hurt b/c he lost his idol and also b/c man in the mirror was a sort of testimony for him as well. WELL DONE Chris. Very respectable.

I also think most of us didn’t approve of what he did but he looked like he was FINALLY sorry for what he had done, we will see in the future if he was sincere or not. I think most guys don’t like other people to see them cry either and that kid look like he was having a nervous breakdown.

This dude can’t hold a live tune. Sure he can lay down a few tracks in the studio but so can my basset hound with technology today. The whole deal was lip synced until the very end and that’s when he started crying like a three year old. If he’s not completely broke now he will be soon and will be just one more person we have to support on welfare.

Chris Brown has already been through enough. He was a kid who did wrong period. He has to live with that the rest of his life. No one needs to keep reminding him of what happened. I liked the performance and I think he needs to stay in counseling and work on his career. If you dont like him, for whatever reason…….dont buy his product!

Michael Jackson was Chris Brown’s idol. It was the one year anniversary of MJ’s death. Chris Brown finally was allowed to do his MJ tribute after not being allowed to last year and the Man In The Mirror song has a very strong message that hit home for Chris Brown. If any of you are truly Michael Jackson fans then you’d know that he believed in unity and second chances for everyone!

Well, Chris Brown did not kill anyone with a knife, kill dogs with electricty or fighting, or molest children who slept with him….so don’t compare Chris Brown to these folks. All Chris did was punch his girlfriend in the face. That was it. No murder or death, no children preditor.

And I actually like Chris Brown, the guy can SING AND DANCE. And, I want him to make a comeback. Was his performance last night good? HECK YES!!! But my gut(along with the details of that performance)tells me that the Man In the Mirror number was very strategic…a total fake! Apparently for some, the strategy worked!

Best fake/acting performance by a female abuser 2010, he can dance/sing but he’s not even close to being a man. Using MJJ for redemption, that’s bad. Only God can save him.

F&@k Chris Brown and Rhianna! He paid no price
for what he did. Did he 3-5 years in jail? Did he stay
in jail long enough to be raped, or even mentally destroyed?

Of course not! Celebrity status got him off, not to mention his
record label! Why do Blacks look up to the lowest common
denominator in Society. Bill Cosby’s educated comments
mean less than what Micheal Jackson,Chris Brown or T.I. say!

I’m not surprised to hear people speaking as if “Cristina” Brown was
persecuted/crucified like Vick,2Pac, and the like. If you do the crime,
you should do the the time, regardless if you are a young,Black celebrity
or not.

Why give this “kid” a break? Does Black society give other black males a
break for their sins? HELL NO.

Part of the problem is Black womens’ acceptance of lowgrade behavior
in a man, as long as he “resembles” guys like Vick,2Pac,Lil Wayne,Gucci Mane,
Rick Ross. Why accept the abuse and disrespect from this particular man,
but perhaps not from a man who doesn’t talk/walk/dress/act like a rapper or
athlete?

You may not like what I’ve written, but you look at the person in the
mirror and ask why you protect people with status.None of the
average brothers that are incarcerated seem to get applause from
a BET audience.

I also agree that alot of women have “mouth” issues, but it doesn’t
mean I should whoop her ass like she’s a man. Rhianna is disgusting
as well because “she” kept making appearances, selling music, posing.
If she wasn’t looking to prosper off of this, she could have gotten away
from the business! This means giving make-up contracts and that probably
isn’t good when you’re money hungry and dysfunctional.

KKK – yes i noticed the play on your name – then to read your post – hilarious – if he isn’t broke – not by a long shot – welfare – now that’s a stretch – my prayer is that you never fall on hard times that you never have to go and seek assistance so that you can make it. Nice try to race bait but it won’t work – tears are to cleanse the soul and last time i checked it has not age limit.

When the internet allows people to be anonymous you run across certain types – I have learned that they are only internet gangstas-thugs-bullies (you choose) what they try and spew through the click of a few keys on the keyboard – they would never do standing in front of a person’s face.

All of you that is HATING, calling his tears fake, better come out of that glass house. Those rocks you are throwng at him going to return back to you and shatter your world. This man don’t owe ANYONE a damn thing. He took responsibilty for his action regarding Rhinna, more than I can say for her. She wasn’t the victim. She pursued that fight that she lost. All of us have had some type of physical altercation, all of us. If you haven’t keep living. Just as he begin to sing “Take a look at yourself and make that change” and SHUT UP, before you talk your skeletons out!!!!!

Why are we so unforgiving concerning Chris Brown? Why is the Today show doing a segment on Chris’s performance? I don’t understand how Charlie Sheen can put a KNIFE to his wife’s throat and yet it seems ok. His career still seems to be on track and if I remember correctly didn’t he just renew is show for of $1Million an epsoide. Yet it seems we want Chris Brown to have nothing. Why is the media portraying Charlie Sheen as an abusive husband, it’s not like this is the first time he’s abused a wife.

It’s not Ok to beat women. Mike Tyson went to jail for rape and had more female fans when he came out! What is wrong with some of you?

Women demand that men respect you. Jails are full of wife beaters who couldn’t dance…you don’t cut them slack, don’t cut any for Mr. Brown

I believe that his emotions were real last night. I think that he was moved possibly for 2 reasons: 1) because Michael Jackson is his Idol, and he felt moved while he was imitating him(he misses MJ just like the rest of his fans. 2) He was moved by the audience because finally, he was onstage with people who will accept him, and he felt humbled by it. Let’s face it, Chris Brown has had a very rough year. He has been shut out of almost every radio station, and music event. There have been many other celebrities that have commited crimes, did drugs, and have made comebacks. Look at Robert Downey from Iron Man. The man was on drugs, and then all of a sudden came The iron man movie, and now look at him, he’s back making millions. Although, I don’t agree or condone what Chris Brown did to Rhianna, We really need to practice forgiveness, and forgive this young man. If you don’t forgive your fellow man(or woman) for things that they do, then how can you expect GOD to forgive you for your sins you have commited? Just a thought folks! Let’s forgive this young man. It’s time to move past the incident. Forgive folks. Just forgive! Chris Brown has paid his dues for the incident, It’s time to forgive and move on! Nuff Said!

DamntheButcher, I wasn’t even going to address your stupid comment that you made, but I feel compelled to. First off, you should not come on a blog and make comments like you did unless you know the history behind it. The BET awards(and even the BET channel), Miss Black America, Soul Train, and other events and channels these were born out of African American People being shut out of “Regular” awards shows and tv channels because of racism. Our entertainers were not being played or honored from the likes of CBS, ABC, NBC, and any other channel or venue. Thus, events and channels were born so that our entertainers, actors and singers could be seen and heard too. It was all born out of racism. Know your history before you make stupid comments, or just plain shut up!

Kapoonka

June 28th, 2010
11:43 am

I can’t understand the mentality where these entertainers feel we “have” to support..like and ….follow them. The early Chris Brown could sing, dance and had the million dollar smile. After the Rihanna incident I mentally wiped him off my hard drive and I don’t feel obligated to follow what he does or support anything he does. He can dance his ass off, but he can’t sing a lick anymore since his voice changed. Even without the croc tears he could not sing that song. Being an entertainer is a privilege….not a right. There’s nothing he could do that will make me care about anything about him. Trey Songz, Usher, Raheem, Joe, there’s a slew of male artists who are eating what used to be his lunch. he blew it.

@Todd-white people commiting crimes does not excuse black people who do or vice versa. This has nothing to do with race. If I’m not mistaken, Chris Brown (a black man) beat Rhianna (a black woman). I would think the black community would be outraged, but no, I saw someone post on this blog “all he did was punch his girlfriend in the face”

I wonder what you would say if Eminem beat Rhianna?

Stand up for your women and PLEASE stand up for yourselves. There are plenty of good decent black men out there.

I am glad Chris got the chance to perform. He has done what the courts have asked him to do. He should have a chance to regain his career. what really gets on my last nerve is all the women either defending his actions by stating that it was a while ago, or justifying his actions by blaming Rihanna for somehow instigating the beatdown. I’m not saying he is unforgiveable, but I am saying that we need to stop blaming the victim in all of this. And HE is certainly not the victim; he’s just the dude who has had to face the ugly consequences of his actions.

I love Chris brown. I am old enough to be his Grandmother and he is one of the few young entertainers that I like. I feel he should not hit girls, But that works both ways . I feel that girls should not hit boys. I hope both of them learned a listen in it. Because as he lost fans so did she. Everyone always take up for the girl and I can see why, But what would you do if someone was beating on you if you was trying to drive. Sometimes you can not control what is happening. we really only have oneside of the story , because Chris didnot really tell his side. And I believe that he would rather hurt and be talked about than to have her put down. In all I thank him for beening a man , because only a real man would have stood up as the bad guy, because as a older woman and have really been an abusive relationship, The man always tell the woman she is cause of the beating. I did walk away, Because It knew it was him. But in all I really saw last night ,that Chris have a lot of heart. So I love him, and may God be with him always.

nypeach – I agree he was wrong, he should have walked away. Restraint is powerful yet hard to maintain when you add in the heated moment and the youth. There are men who can’t restrain and they are alot older. My stance is this, no one knows what happened, it is obvious he snapped, he has wounds to show that an altercation on BOTH ends took place. I don’t blame Rhiana, she however did instigate it by her own admission in hitting him first. Here in Georgia, when both the male and the female have defensive wounds, they are BOTH taken to jail. He is a victim though, a victim of scruitny from the public eye. A public that can point fingers and blame and say sinister things, when its own closets are so full of skeletons its about to burst wide open. I do blame her as well though. Not for getting hit, but to use a serious issue such as domestic violence to further her career by going on talk shows a couple of weeks before her album came out after she said she didn’t want to speak to anyone about it. That is how i am able to say it is over .

I have never once read anything where Rihanna admits hitting him firt. Not once, and I am a journalist. I’ve never heard him say that she hit him first. He admits that there was an argument, that he hit her and that she scratched him in trying to defend herself. Not once has he publicly said that she hit him first. It’s a false assumption by the public that has been repeated so much that people now take it as the gospel truth. The only restrainted needed was him not punching her in face repeatedly and choking her, and then driving off and leaving her on the side of the road like trash.
