Wow. That was quite a moment when Chris Brown broke down singing “Man in the Mirror” on the BET Awards last night during his Michael Jackson tribute. Why did he get so emotional?

Check out an award photo gallery here.

Who cares? I’m just happy to see him performing again. He has payed the price. Let him move on with his life, please!! Charlie Sheen has abused his wife, I don’t see where his career is suffering. Leave Chris Brown alone!

If Tracy Lawrence can come back from his 1997 fallout, why can’t Chris Brown?

The man has been in purgatory for quite awhile.

WOW. I’m at a loss for words. I’ve been reading remarks on other sites all morning and even seen a clip on the Today Show but am just now watching the YouTube video. I just think he was taking a look into his own mirror. I feel he’s paid his dues. People really need to just LET IT GO.

Tracy Lawrence is a country singer. In March 1997, Lawrence married his 2nd wife Stacie Drew, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. By December she had filed charges against him. He was eventually convicted of misdemeanor battery and suspended by his record label until he got “his personal matters straight.” He was ordered to pay a $500 fine to a women’s shelter in Las Vegas

If you think for one minute that this was real or that he “Saw himself in the mirror” you’re crazy and deserve to be duped. Also, I got some prime beach-front property in Antarctica to sell you. This fool is nothing more than an opportunist who used this platform (& you) in attempt to resurrect his sad career. The ONLY thing he earned last night was possibly an Academy Award for his “Acting”. He’s not sorry for anything except that he got caught.

I am so proud of him @Lois – that is exactly what I thought – he took a moment to absorb the fact that he had to look in the mirror – start with him and accept his responsibilities for his own actions. His performance was AWESOME – He is a human being like everyone else just in the spot light – He needs to forgive himself now and as long as God has forgiven him – he shouldn’t worry about what anyone else thinks!!

Abusers are emotional. That’s one of the sources of abuse. It’s perfectly in line with what they do.

That being said, I think people need to give him a break. An abusive relationship is co-dependent: Let some guy hit a woman that wouldn’t take it. She would call the police, press charges, show up for court, forget his number and went on with her life. The relationship would have abruptly ended.

So as long as he doesn’t get back with Rihanna and find some strong woman, I think he should be OK.

Fake! Used an opportunity to draw sympathy for himself.

No wonder crime is so high, people in the community forgive all of the criminals…Chris Brown, R. Kelly(if you saw the tape the verdict was a joke), Mike Vick, O.J. Simpson, Lil’ Wayne, T.I … just adored and supported by the black community-

Woman beating, weed smoking, child molesting, dog killing-and gambling ring running, silencer buying, gun toting, and murdering, THUGS who move and touch a community! What a joke. And the women just go crazy and love to have babies for and by these clowns! And the children suffer.

He beat the hell out of a woman and drove off and left. Had there not been pictures people would have defended and made excuses for him too. And why? Because he’s cute and can sing and dance? I wonder if you’d forgive him for beating the hell out of one of your female relatives! I wouldn’t.

More Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jill Scott, John Legend, and positive people please. Do all black heroes have to go to jail?!

So tired of this thug era, the thugs and stupid people who support them.

Not moved at all.

Its very understandable why people don’t want to forgive Chris Brown because what he did was terrible. But, the thing you’ve got to realize is the man is a triple threat and those are so rare to ACTUALLY come by. The term ‘triple threat’ gets tossed around a lot but the only ones that are actually out there right now are C Brown, J Foxx, and my man J Timberlake. And that is it folks, holla if ya heard me on that.

Lets be honest

@Get Real ~ it does look like he may have used this opportunity to draw sympathy to himself. I agree to a small degree.

That performance REEKED of him reflecting on his career. How he almost sidelined his career and almost lost all his fans. The tears were real and his embarrassment even greater. He’s been away for a long time. As Rodney Ho stated, he’s been in purgatory for a long time. Just knowing you’re at the threshold of getting your life back would bring tears to any person’s eyes!!!

“Triple Threat”? What, he’ll beat, rape and kill the next woman? Please! Who gives a rat’s a$$ what his talent is if he can’t comport himself like a human being?! Seriously, Hitler had a talent for manipulating people and was very charismatic…So, he STILL killed millions of innocent people!

Hell-bent – ummmm…..that can go both ways – although he shouldn’t have hit her – you do realize that rhiana used a platform to right – you do know that she hit him first right – you do know that her own family talked about her temper right – at the end of the day – if he was fake – then oh well – let those tears roll all the way to the bank – rhiana did – she didn’t want to speak to the public then all of a sudden right before her album drops she appears on major news networks and talk shows to speak – she became the all of a sudden down trodden woe is me victim – talk about fake and a platform-wow give him the best male actor but make sure you give rhiana the best female as well – her album dropped shortly thereafter – i am sure that her desire to all of a sudden speak publicly had nothing to do with that – there are three sides to every story – his story her story and the truth – he never said what happened – you got her version – and believe me she wouldn’t dare tell you her role in the incident.

Gimme a break

I agree with Hell-bent. I’m sure he’s learned his lesson and most abusers don’t. If he’s really sorry and wants to prove something, he would become an advocate.

Come on – the fact that women were in the front cheering this guy on is really distressing. They should have thrown a slide up there with Rihanna’s bruised face. What better way to show your softer side than blubbering on stage in front of millions (err, sorry these were the BET award, in front of “thousands” I mean).
Yes, this guy can perfom no question! But then again so could Vick, but I am not cheering for him no more either.

Chris Brown’s breakdown was real. No one can fake big crocodile tears like that, especially on the spot. This boy’s entire career is attributed to the iconic Michael Jackson & he was denied the right to perform at the MJ dedicated awards show last year due to Beyonce & JayZ’s boycott. If ANYONE should have been on that stage last year, it should have been that child. So he finally got to pay homage to his idol.

He made a mistake with Rihanna (who on this Earth has never made a mistake in life). None of us know exactly what happened in that car or what was said or done to provoke the fight. I truly believed he has learned his lesson. LET IT GO!!!!!!

Hell – I see you didn’t read or comprehend my post – I said he should not have hit her – they are both young – they made a mistake – the relationship was not healthy for either one of him – a tornado was dating a volcano. I said what I said and I stand by it – we were not there – personally it is not my business, they are entertainers and their personal lives are just that their personal lives. I said what i said because – we don’t know what took place – he snapped-was he wrong YES!!! does he deserve forgiveness, YES, if that makes me or others who thinks that he does stupid – your opinion you are entitled to it. I am a firm believer in what my granny used to say and that is that there are only two types of people – the caught and the UN caught-whether black white red or brown – black stars do not have all that get real mentioned on lock down – believe me it runs rampant and without color – for every crime he mentioned pertaining to a black entertainer I could name a white one. I say that to say it has no color. No, I do not like the way some of the entertainers have carried themselves, but face facts if we went through their personal lives and dissected them – the industry would have to go bankrupt – just as well i thought it funny he mentioned some people he thought were “positive” balck people – those same people mentioned have all gone through scandals of their own-they might not have been as public as others-but they have.

@AKA Lady….Seriously? I saw the footage and guess what?…..NO TEARS! He was acting and treated you like a fool. He played you well. Who cares if he was “denied the right to perform” at some lame tribute show. Whoop-to-fricken-do! He’ll get over it as should you. He and he alone flushed his career down the toilet. He and he alone is responsible for where he is right now. Don’t pat him on the back and say it’s gonna be okay. Something tells me I’m wasting my breath. “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”

This performance was a fake as that picture of the pelicans tossed into the photo montage…
Chris Brown is as undisciplined as a performer as he is as a boyfriend.
He sort of got Michael’s moves, but he was way to chunky to convince as a dancer.
Thanks for showing the clip, though, glad to be able to see for myself this sorry “breakdown”.

@AKA Lady- as long as women put up with trifling men, men will do what they want to them.

If your mother was beaten and left in the street, would you buy Chris Brown records or think it was touching to see him cry on stage? quit making excuses for sorry men.

He’s in the record selling business…it was fake.

“No one can fake big crocodile tears like that, especially on the spot.” That’s like saying no one can fake an orgasim? Did you see “You Got Mail” with Meg Ryan.

Of course one can fake crocodile tears. It’s called acting. Nonetheless, Chris Brown has been in hell and this incident will forever taint this career. Just like Rhianna got her career back on track, Chris Brown needs to get his back on track. Both parties were wrong and it’s not fair to put one under the bus and the other if driver’s seat…it’s not fair!

If he was fake then he did a good job because I brought it and I’m not a Chris Brown fan at all. I believe he finally took a look at himself and didn’t like what he saw and broke down. His career was almost ruined because of his actions while Rihanna has gotten bigger and better. I believe that was a career saver last night.

Mr. Ed

He beat a young lady in a savage, vicious manner until her face looked like a bloody pork chop. Something no person deserves, EVER, no matter the circumstances. Now, he wants to cry like a little girl for the mistake he made? He wants sympathy?

Chris Brown might be selling, but I’m not buying.

“Hell-Bent” I guess you better get those papers ready for me to sign on that beach front property because I bought his act. I thought it was genuine. He’s been through a lot and I think it all caught up with him at that moment. His face was too ugly to be faking. He really had the ugly cry going.

Man I agree with Hell Bent and Get Real but at the same time I agree with Stand Alone too it is quite possible for some one to feel remorseful for past deeds and actions… I think that we as people need to recognize that people can just genuinely want forgiveness for things you have to keep in mind most people who get in trouble for something this have atleast the privacy of their own personal lives to heal and Chris hasn’t had that his album, awesome though it was, had very poor sales… He had a tour that was pathetic lol… He can’t even find sufficient work as an actor right now… Keep in mind people its easy persecute people especially those in the public eye but its hard to forgive… I don’t care what anyone says he’s done all the time they asked paid all the dues sought out psychiatric help the whole nine so who are we to try and gauge whether or not he is truly apologetic??? It just sounds to me like yall want someone to keep downtrodden… Tiger cheated on his wife several times SEVERAL!!! Now that he’s back in the public eye again they’re not booing they know what he’s done and they let it go… With that being said no one has to forgive Chris its your choice but don’t sit on this computer and act like he can’t possibly be sorry… Don’t act like you as a person have never done something that you yourself aren’t proud of and needed that forgivenss yourself before… Bottom line Don’t Judge!!! Thats not what we are here to do!!!
