Wasting no time, HBO renews ‘True Blood’ for fourth season

true-blood-hbo-tv-04Vampires remain bloody hot. Just two episodes into season three, “True Blood” has been given life for a fourth season by HBO.

Ratings for the first episode exceeded 5 million viewers, not counting “On Demand” and repeats, the network’s biggest show since “The Sopranos.

“The new season of TRUE BLOOD is off to a terrific start, as enthusiasm for this unique show continues to build among both subscribers and critics,” noted Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming..  “We’re looking forward to more chills from Alan Ball and his gifted team next year.”

The 12-episode third season of TRUE BLOOD, which launched June 13, has already inspired critical raves, with Entertainment Weekly calling it “faster, sleeker, more vicious, more fun than it already was,” as well as “summer’s best TV.”  USA Today hails the show as “fabulously wild,” while the Washington Post describes it as “electrifying.”

Former Marietta resident Alan Ball is executive producer.

The faked Southern accents are terrible…but the show overall gets an A+. Mocha…simmer down and take a cold shower, it sounds like you are desperate.

Yes, the accents are bad but honestly, I’m betting they’re supposed to be. The whole thing is a send-up, campy deal and I LOVE it.

Anyone who doubts that needs to watch Snoop Dogg’s video for “OH SOOKIE” – c’mon people, it’s just fun television and the serial aspect (each episode is a cliffhanger) makes you angry and anxious at the same time.

As for hotness – Godric’s got ‘em all beat.

Rodney: I bet you liked it when Sam and Bill went at it in the shower, as part of Sam’s dream sequence.

This show slipped some last season with all of the silly Maryann junk, but still a show that I enjoy alot. I’m looking forward to catching up on Season 3. Definitely worth watching, even if you aren’t normally into the vampire books/shows. Very original.

True Blood is truly the best show on tv. The characters, the setting, the mood, the story lines, and of course the humor – everything is awesome. And the writers assume that their audience is smart so they play to our intelligence and that is truly refreshing.

Alan Ball is loosely basing the show on the Sookie Stackhouse book series. I love how he is getting more into the Sookie/Eric relationship. Bill is nothing compared to Eric.
