Who won ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

Did Nicole earn the win?

Nicole Scherzinger overcame perceptions that she had an unfair advantage with her dancing credits and defeated Olympian Evan Lysacek for the 10th season “Dancing With the Stars” mirror-ball trophy.

The Pussycat Dolls lead singer consistently garnered superior judges’ scores throughout the season and finished the night with a perfect score on her exuberant final dance.

Lysacek also had an advantage of being an Olympian (three others have won before) and a figure-skating background which lent itself well on the dance floor.

“It’s been such a blast,” Evan said. “She deserved it.”

On paper, before the competition even began, it was easy to pick Nicole and Evan as contenders given their resumes. Neither disappointed.

Not surprisingly, Atlanta-based ESPN broadcaster Erin Andrews came in third. She lagged behind the other two throughout much of the ten weeks.”He brought me back to life,” she said, of Maksim Chmerkovskiy, her dance partner. She was obviously a wreck after the peepster videos of her nude hit the Web last year. But she overcame her own nerves to put in a respectable showing.

Erin and Maxsim came in unfairly 3rd but they are an attractive couple. Hopefully they stay together for years to come. They are beautiful together with a lot of chemistry!!

Since the premise of the show is to follow untrained dancers over the weeks and watch them develop into performers who are delightful to watch, I feel that Nicole never should have been in the original group. She IS a dancer, this was not a level playing field and I feel Evan deserved to win because although awkward at the beginning he worked hard and developed admirable skills. I would have gone along with any other contestant but Nicole.

“She [Erin Andrews] was obviously a wreck after the peepster videos of her nude hit the Web last year.”

So naturally, she goes on a show that required her to wear slinky outfits slit to her navel, wiggle her tail (throwing in a few of those bump & grind hunching “hip thrusts”) and shakes her boobs all over. That’s going to REALLY help establish you as a serious journalist.
I lost all respect I had for Erin when she couldn’t resist the temptation to try and become…not just a good sports reporter…but a “celebrity”. And I honestly thought she had more sense and self-respect.

I was in Evan’s corner all the way. After seeing how Erin’s real personality and Nicole’s concededness shined through, Evan was the better choice. But the real question is “when will a “black female” ever win. Just once…..I would like to see a woman of color win.

Tenacious T, if your wish is for a “woman of color” to win, then your wish came true last night. Nicole may not be black, but she is Hawaiian. By the way, “concededness” is actually spelled like this: conceitedness.

In case you’re wondering, I am a black female, so there’s no bias on this end.

My wife watches that whenever it’s on and when I’m walking through and stop to watch I can appreciate anyone that can come from no background of dancing to the point where they win as Emmitt Smith did. Getting the ones that have dance for years kind of throws water on the show. The negative comments about Erin should be dismissed every person has a right to propell theirself and I applaud her for dancing with the stars rather than hiding in a room after her privacy was taken from her. You keep at it girl :-)

Hey, Tenacious, why doesn’t BET put on a Dancing With the Black Stars?

Congrats to Nicole for winning, but I still maintain that today’s singers who have to go through complex choreography for their concerts have an unfair advantage over the rest of the cast.

Still, she is very talented and Derek was the perfect professional to pair with her, as his personality and choreography were well-suited to her.

I still found Evan to be very wooden in his personality, even though he improved immensely during the show.

And to Susan’s comments about Erin? Did you WATCH the show, Susan? Compare Erin’s outfits to the other contestants who made it past week 5. Her’s were probably the most understated of all, and she certainly didn’t “shake her boobs” all over the place as you stated. And c’mon. She’s a SPORTS reporter fer crying out loud! No threat of ever being a serious journalist in that field. That being said, Erin improved the most of all in the final three, and got rid of the awkwardness she showed early on. And especially because of her privacy issue, she showed courage to attack the problem very publicly rather than curl up in a ball and complain about it.

@ Marie Warhola – what? Do you have a clue? You think Nicole shouldn’t have been included because she dances for a living – have you ever watched the her perform? That’s a far cry from ballroom dancing (tango, rumba, etc). HOWEVER, Evan is an ICE DANCER. He dances in his career much more like they did on this competition. You need to get real girl.

@ Susan McGuire – jealous much? She suffered alot in the past due to that pervert. She’s entitled to get over it however she wants – it’s none of your business. Also, she isn’t a highly paid person at ESPN, but DWTS paid her over $100K for this. If you’d turn that down because you want “to be a respected journalist”, you’re an idiot. This does get her name and face recognition so when she wants to interview the sports stars, they’ll want to talk to her. So – YES – this does help her media career.

@ Tenacious T – what a stupid, bigoted and racist comment.

@ Devildog – can you imagine what would happen if there was a WET (white entertainment station)channel?!?!?!

From the first show, I picked Nicole to be the winner. Of course, this was no brainer on my part. And, of course, there were some that stayed much longer than I thought they should. We have the really bad ones that make me wonder why were they ever chosen. Nicole definitely had the advantage from the beginning. Past shows have had the same situation. The show is for entertainment purposes. We get to know people from a different perspective. I think it is amazing that all of them are able to do what they do. For most, it is very exhausting. Unitl next year……

@Susan- Quit judging people. I agree with Dave R. Instead of going into hiding after such a horrible ordeal, she got herself back out and actually had some fun. And as for the wiggling and shaking comments, that’s what you do when you DANCE- moron.

Erin shouldnt have advanced to the point that she did–and I got sick of her whining about the invasion of her privacy—blah blah blah. If she had truly been that upset about the nude shots she shouldnt have gone on the show and practically bare it all in the skimpy outfits. I wouldnt be surprised to see her in a future Playboy.

@Tenacious T: You need to go back and listen to or read Dr. King’s message.
“Judge the content of character NOT the color of skin.” Your mentality and self-segragation perpetuate racism and are NO GOOD for our society as a whole. I know you did not mean it that way. But many black folk have made it the norm….. just saying:-)

Saturn, you’re an idiot. It’s none of your $#&% business how she dealt with it.

@Footballfan: 85 was injured in football practice. They showed him at the beginning of the show saying he wouldn’t be dancing, but he was in the audience.

@Susan and Saturn: You both disgust me. So women who are victimized should stay huddled up in their houses and wear turtlenecks and long skirts the rest of their lives, because clearly the “skimpy outfits” and “boob shaking dances” MUST have tempted the stalker, and in reality, they were asking for it, right? It’s attitudes like yours and that ninny on the View that make women ashamed for something that is in no way their fault. I applaud Erin and think she’s an excellent example for women recovering from being victimized, in any way. And Saturn, if she chose to do Playboy in the future, there’s quite a bit of difference between posing for photos and having your personal moments invaded and broadcast. I’m sure you would just LOVE to have your body splashed over the internet when your scratching your b@lls when you climb out of the shower.

I agree with all that say that Nicole had no business in the competition at all.. she did have an unfair advantage as did many of the past winners… anyone with a dance background has no business competing against others who have had ZERO dance training…

I agree with Marie. Nicole should never have been on the show due to her current, not previous, profession. Yes, there have been other “dancers” on the show such as Joey Fatone and Lance Bass. But consider that it had been years since they danced as regularly as Nicole does. You can go out on YouTube and see many of Nicole’s choreographed numbers from her music videos. It may not be ballroom dancing, but it is choreographed just the same. If DWTS is to be legitimate they need to stay away from people like Nicole who have a clear over-the-top advantage over the other dancers.

I think everyone knew Nicole would win. Personally I liked Evan. Nicole had a huge advantage over the other contestants. I think DWTS needs to get contestants that don’t have experience in dance and watch them get better every week. I thought that’s what the show was about.

@B-Bro – Thank you for your positive comments to Erin – you’re right – Erin should & will hopefully dismiss the negative comments.
@Susan McGuire – REALLY?? Erin danced in the same manner as the other dancers, is Evan going to be taken less seriously as an Olympian because he wore slinky outfits slit to HIS navel, wiggle HIS tail (throwing in a few of those bump & grind hunching “hip thrusts”) and shook HIS bare chest all over. IS being on DWTS really going to effect his ability to help establish himself as a serious Olympian?? Susan, you have a very narrow mind – sad
@Judge – there’s a Black Miss American, love to see this country’s reaction to a White Miss America LOL. There’s also a Black Broadcast Journalist Convention, how ’bout a White Broadcast Journalist. & there’s a Black Lawyers of America group, maybe we should push for a White Lawyers of America – oh, silly me, that would be discrimination!

To Susan Mcguire: It is attitudes such as yours that give power to negative situations involving women. Does a woman have to “lock up” her life and future simply because some idiot violated her privacy? She is a beautiful woman who did a GREAT job and gives hope to other victims out there who want go on with their lives and “keep it moving”. You sound like the old bitty back in the day that thinks a woman “deserves it” simply because she is expressing what makes us all beautiful in a RESPECTFUL light. AND I’ve found that MOST women with YOUR attitude, are the ones that probably WISH they could have boobs out that people WANT to see and even wear a SIZE that could FIT into the costumes. JEALOUSY is not a very attractive trait. I would think that YOU had “more sense and self-respect”! Congrats to Erin, Nicole, and Evan….good job done by all!

Personally I thought it was pretty crappy when the judges were commenting on Nicole’s last dance they basically told her she should be the DWTS champion- RIGHT BEFORE Evan had to come out and do his final dance. I thought that was pretty disrepectful on the judges’ part. You may THINK that, but you don’t voice that out loud. Geez.
And also, when they announced Nicole had won, she was all happy and cheering (deservedly so- I think she should have won as well)- however, Tom the announcer asks her “…you act as if you are suprised?”- yet another unprofessional comment I thought from the staff of that show. Just congratulate her and move on. Don’t act like Evan never had a chance!

This show needs “untrained dancers”…. Derek has won before; Max hasn’t, so why every year does Derek get the trained dancer? Nicole is good, but she should not have been on DWTS. It would be nice just one year to have all untrained dancers start from the beginning and work theirselves up to a professional dancer.

char, it is my understanding that the professional/star pairings are random drawings, so I think Derek is just lucky in his choices for partners.

That being said, he is also one of the best of the professionals at choreography, in my opinion.

its sad that people can’t get over race. we are who we are, period. also, just because erin was involved in an unfortunate incident not her fault involving some scumbag who should b put away for life, doesn’t mean she can’t be sexy and do the things she has dreamed of doing. good for her. she’s beautiful and talented and deserves the very best
