Tiny and Toya provide preview of season two starting April 13

Tiny-Toya-at-phipps

Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Antonia “Toya” Carter will be back Tuesday night for a second season of their show “Tiny & Toya” on BET. The first season did quite well, averaging 1.9 million viewers. So BET gave it a 13-episode second season.

The show isn’t quite packed with drama a la “Real Housewives” or even “Keyshia Cole,” but both come across as sweet and likable.

Tiny’s storyline was a bit more dramatic because of her desires to stretch her wings as the love of life T.I. entered prison last year for weapons charges related to purchasing machine guns and silencers.

She’s opened a nail salon Tiny’s Nail Bar in Stockbridge. She said she stops by every other day. She showed me some work one of her employees did on one of her fingers – a mini-portrait of Tiny! (You can see the video at the bottom of this blog entry.)

She wouldn’t say if T.I. will actually show up on the show once he returns from prison. She said he’s more accepting of her doing this show and her entrepreneurial desires. “He’s better,” she said.

The second season will also continue to show her promoting her daughter’s girl group OMG.

Toya, the former wife of Lil Wayne, began dating and will continue to do so season two. “We’re still friends,” she said. Now she has to deal with Lil Wayne going into prison, also on a gun charge. She said her mom, who has been on drugs, has been doing well. She said we’ll see more of her family, including her brothers.

“I’m not as camera shy anymore,” she said.

She’d like to get into fashion and is writing a book. “It’s going to be in diary form,” she said, “a letter to my younger self. Something more inspirational.”

I asked each what they watch on TV. Toya enjoys “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and BET’s “The Family Crews.” Tiny doesn’t watch much new stuff, said she enjoys repeats of “The Game.” “I prefer scripted shows,” she said.

Toya is also into Ludacris‘ latest album and Monica’s, too. She is also into Justin Bieber. “I like that little boy,” she said. “He has some hot tracks!”

Here’s my brief interview with Toya at Phipps Plaza:

Why can’t television stations show everyday working women? Chronicle black women who are(majority single at mothers at that) mothers, multiple jobs, and going to school? That’s REALITY!!!!

Oh great a second season of “Look at me I’m a rich baby momma”. Your daughters can be trained in the ways of not using condoms when they sleep with rappers…..and guess what you get a TV show!
This is a stain on the black community, and I will NOT support.

Why cant they do an episode on Me. A single mother of three teenagers who works full time and attend school. They want drama, stop by my crib for a week. Hell, I will do it for half the cost and really give em something to laugh about….

Can’t wait for the show! Tiny & Toya reflect nothing but positivity. Tiny is not a baby momma… she has her own career, way before TI, and now she’s a devoted fiance. Toya is not a baby momma either – she was married to Lil Wayne, her high school sweetheart.

First people up and complain about the negetive reality shows – like Frankie & Neffe or “Housewives”, and when given a positive one, people still have something negetive to say. Cheer up! Look for the positive and stop focusing on the negetive.

This is a stupid show and adds to BET lineup of embarrasments for the black community run by blacks. Dont see the purpose of this show and why in the world are they putting this on tv. Remember the show by Keyshia Cole’s mom and sister Bet gave them. This is sad that blacks are percieved as dummies because I hate to say it but Toya keeps talking bout the same things regarding Wayne. Be for real the man has other kids and been with several women after you. This makes black woman seem stupid and all these shows on BET do is embarass the black community and why do all the shows on BET are starting to showcase dumb blacks. Viacom really knows how to embarrass blacks and have them running the network. MTV, VH!, BET owned by the same company. Sweet Ki I see nothing positive about some women who are married to rappers and are on a show trying to showcase kids and keep reflecting on their past. This is not positive nor negative..its just on TV. Being black is getting harder because now we are either athletes or rap artists. No more doctors or lawyers, scientists..you know those that actually make a difference in the world..Sad.. Sweet Ki you said Tiny is a devoted fiance yea she is and I dont know who stays engaged for 10 years thats dumb.. Whats positive about this? Whats negative about this? Neither on both ends its just sad that black women are in those same roles thats why many of us black men turn to the other race..not saying I always do but its hard to find an upstanding one who is not a groupie like the white women. Hispanic woman may take over…LMAO

Tiny is a baby momma three times over. She’s never been married to any of their fathers. Just because she has a career doesn’t exempt her from being a baby momma.

I wonder why “people” have to be so negative! If it is a show that doesnt interest you THEN JUST DONT WATCH! Our opinions are our own, but sometimes we should just keep them to ourselves. i wish both Tiny & Toya the best in any of their current and future endeavors. I believe that good things happen to genuinely good and positive people…and well, not so good things to very opinionated, judgemental, NEGATIVE people.

Positives? Are you people serious? Cant wait till you are at home someday having dinner, and your daughter comes out her mouth and says, “yea, Im having a baby by an aspiring rapper”. This is NOT cool…and we need to stop accepting this crap in our community. AS LONG AS WE KEEP COONING, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO EXPLOIT US!
Take note….white america is trying its best to get Jersey Shore pulled off the air….

This show is not about the Black race, it’s about Tiny and Toya’s lives! Give it a rest please! Also, I think it’s great that these women are doing what it takes to raise their kids. This is their reality. Don’t get mad because you didn’t get pregnant by a rapper or another rich guy. Personally, I can’t wait to see it.

@Zone 4, everybody makes mistakes. I had a child out of wedlock. I don’t flaunt it, but it is what it is. And for the record, we’re married and have been for 12 years, but my daughter came first. I hope she doesn’t follow in our footsteps, but we don’t hide it from her. Nobody is being exploited. It is what it is.

@Cinnamon, your life is probably way too normal:).

@Common Sense, you seem to be lacking it. If you choose to go to another race, peace! I doubt that you’ll be missed. And if you aren’t seeing black doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, maybe you should change your address. I see them everyday in my neighborhood. This is a TV show. Get over it. I guess Locked Down makes black men all look like criminals since so many are incarcerated. Gimme a break!

I’m sorry, but what is the positive message that the show would be sending to our youth or anyone for that matter? I’m not pointing the finger, but I’m not putting my business on front street or a tv show either. One of them has had multiple children out of wedlock and continues to do so, regardless of what kind of message it’s sending to our young ladies. The other was married at some point but was not when her child was conceived and sadly was pretty much a child herself. She continues to date, which means she’s exposing her daughter to different men. Probably would be a good idea to take a hiatus from dating and focus primarily on herself and her daughter.
Now could someone please tell me what we are suppose to get from this except that the statistics are true regarding marriages in the African American community.

Can the networks just rid all of these useless “reality” (which are far from reality) shows from the air…leta get back to family shows like the Cosby’s and Different World…these shows prompted me to want to go to college; which I did…and want more out of life…Ph.D. Candidate…lady from the gutters of New Orleans! I’m not bashign the show but try to on daily living and not jsut getting your nails done; going on dates with athletes! Its cute to promote their daughters who have a group but how about something that we all can relate too. Good luck ladies! I didnt watch the show much last season and probably won’t this season but let’s try to do better. Invest in a network ladies….get quality shows on the raggedy network called BET.

common sense you sound common STUPID. That was a dump comment you made about black women. I’m sure that your mother, sister, daughters are black also. There are plenty of educated positive black women out here. Black women are not the only one’s dating athelete’s and rappers. In my book they are doing Black Women a favor I fill sorry for the other women races, black men don’t treat them any better in fact worst. They only stay with black men long enough to get there money.

Well they aren’t asking anyone for any hand outs. Their kids are well taken care of. So what’s not positive. Tiny is a song writer and producer, who has a career outside of T.I. All her kids are fathered by T.I. except for the oldest. Toya was married to Lil Wayne and pursuing her own endeavors. She just starting to get out and date. The show highlights their lives, not T.I. or Lil Wayne. So if they are so much of a disgrace, why read a article Titled Tiny and Toya provide preview of season two starting April 13. Who’s the morons? I’m not a fan of alot of reality shows, but their show is alot better than some I have seen. Not alot of drama, ghettoness or I got more money than everybody else, just two women trying to get their own careers in order.

Maybe if Hollywood (or whoever is responsible for TV shows) would produce some GOOD shows, people wouldn’t have to bitch and moan about these crappy reality shows. Ratings (which are unscientific to begin with) get skewed because among the plethora of craptastic shows, viewers either leave their TVs on a channel they were watching before or more commonly, producers are influencing the numbers. It shows like this that are making the US the laughing stock of the world and why places like India and China are kicking our asses. If you ask a sample of schoolchildren in India or China what they want to be when they grow up….you’ll get answers such as scientist, doctor, engineer, all sorts of actual jobs. American kids are being brainwashed that if they act like these idiots, they can get famous by getting their own reality show or some karaoke-type show.

Okay, the only thing that these ladies are doing that is positive, is not getting food stamps or welfare like their mommas did. This show is a train wreck. You want to look away but you can’t help but look at that mess. Tiny needs elocution classes, desperately. If you dont’ know what that is, look it up. Her manner of speaking is something I never heard before. They are like the Clampetts from the Beverly Hillbillies, they have money, but damn, ghetto and country as hell.

@Kmarcelle, OMG!!They most certainly are not role models! For whom, and for what!? Good Grief, you shouldn’t have to get a pat on the back if you put food on the table and feed your children. Is Tiny even literate?? (Once again, look it up.) Did she graduate from high school? She’s from Atlanta, right? So someone on here singing her praises probably went to school with her. Graduation pictures anyone, anyone?? GED??

The bible says, Judge not lest ye be judged. All of the negative ppl on her should be ashamed of themsleves. Why r u all putting these women down and talking about their children. Like many, if you don’t like the show or the ppl in it then DON’t WATCH!, its just that simple. Do you really think they care about you opinions of them? I’m quite sure the main ones talking about baby mamas r baby mamas themselves. If they doing positive things you complain, if its negative you complain. What r u doing with you life? If Toya is dating, so what? She is human and she is a woman! Just because you have children does not mean that your life has to stop. She has a right to date! You have children that are being abused and molested and all you can come up with is she is dating and exposing her children to men. I dated and my kids never even meet the guy! So, all of you negative ppl net to STFU! If some came to you today and wanted to put you on TV you would do it. Stop the hate it’s not cute!!

Its entertainment…….. That’s all!! If you actually take everything on TV literally then you’re in BIG trouble. Also, if your kids haveto look to TV and Mags for ROLE MODELS, then you’re obviously not doing your job as a parent, cause they should be looking at/up to you!!!!! I say let’s stop putting so much responsibility on ENTERTAINERS (whether its music, TV, sports, etc) for the way “our children” are raised. If Parents handle their business on the home-front, no matter what your child sees, hears, reads, etc, they will have the proper fundamentals/Manners of growing up the “right way”‘ (however that may be in your eyes).

Wow! That is too funny. I don’t know what is sadder. The fact that she got a high school diploma and still speaks like a Forest Gump idjit, or… forget it, just sad. With whatever money she earned, she really should have been trying to get more education. Hopefully, but unlikely, she will encourage her own children to continue their education through high school and beyond.
