UPDATE: TMZ reports NeNe Leakes’ son turns himself in for outstanding warrant
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member NeNe Leakes in a statement last month said she’d deal some “tough love” on her son Bryson Bryant (left, with last month’s mug shot) for getting caught and arrested for a minor pot possession.
TMZ initially reported today that Bryant was arrested a second time in a month, this time for an illegal weapons possession. But at about 1 p.m., they corrected the item, saying he actually had just turned himself in based on an outstanding warrant related to an additional charge related to an initial March 7 pot possession charge. Gwinnett County fed TMZ the wrong information at first. The actual news wasn’t all that newsy in the end.
TMZ does not state what the additional charge is. I’ve left a message with the PIOs at Gwinnett County police to see if they can clarify the situation.
According to the docket, he entered Tuesday afternoon at 1:58 p.m. and left at 3:35 a.m. this morning. He is out on a $5,700 bond.

The third season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” has just started taping, with an expected return on air in the fall. He has shown up a couple of times on the show, first going to college, then dropping out and aspiring to be a party promoter. Mediatakeout says model Cynthia Bailey may be joining attorney Phaedra Parks as a new housewife and that this certainly means a couple of the other housewives will be “written off” the show.

Another example of poor parenting by (supposedly) “rich,” “upper middle class” parents — raising a kid giving him/her too much, while requiring too little (good grades, good behavior, maturity, etc.) from them.
We constantly blast poor parents for not raising their kids properly (as we should, when necessary). The same needs to be done here for a couple of parents who have some (I think) financial resources. (Same for the former Cobb County judge who allowed her underage kids to drink alcohol with their friends in her basement.)
One of the few RHA episodes I watched was the one in Season I when NeNe bought this kid a brand new truck with all the bells and whistles when he graduated from high school. He didn’t sound all that bright, and I figured there’d be a pretty good chance he wouldn’t graduate from CAU.
Hope they figure out how to get the kid’s life turned around.

Bryson you should be ashamed for bringing shame and dishonor to your family. When there are tough times, your family are the only ones that will see you through challenges. As a mother, it is challenging to keep our children on a posiitve course but criminal activity is a level that is expensive and hurtful. I really am sorry to hear about this for this young man and any other young man out there making wrong choices. How do we get through to them? It doesn’t matter if he came from middle class, poor working class, wealthy, etc. our youth are in trouble. They’re being brought up in a society filled with violence (media, Reality TV, other programming, music) and sex and drugs. It’s always been this way, but I think we’ve reached an all time low in society…for a lot of reasons. We’re all in this together because it could be any of your children, believe that. Kids are being bullied, they’re filming themselves beating each other down, they’re setting each other on fire over the smallest crap, they’re out of their minds. And it’s not just the youth, look at how adults are tripping out on each other in politics. Grown a** men are trying to beat each other down in the meeting rooms, women on reality shows are calling each other the B word and beating each other down. It’s becoming way too acceptable to dumb down, to be w reckless and we reward bad behavior, parents buying children all kinds of stuff when they haven’t earned it. Mistresses who know a man is married when they get with him are being given television time, book deals, etc. I mean really, what are we going to do?
