Olympics, ‘Idol’ dominate TV ratings; Lady Gaga, Trey Songz big on Atlanta radio

vancouverlogo-300x286

The Vancouver Olympics on NBC so far are doing worse than the Salt Lake City games in 2002 but faring better than the Torino games in 2006. The opening ceremony last Friday drew 32.6 million and the games have drawn 20 million to 30 million viewers since then.

-The top cable program last week was the NBA All Star Game on TNT, which drew 6.8 million. Although more than 100,000 people watched the game from the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, that’s the second lowest TV viewership in recent times.

- CBS’s “Undercover Boss” featuring Atlanta-based Hooters, exposed itself to a solid 15.4 million nationally Sunday, 252,000 locally.

- Even before the Olympics, “24″ has been losing steam, hitting some of its worst ratings in years with 10.3 million viewers catching the Feb. 8 episode. It dropped to fewer than 9 million against the Olympics this past Monday.

-The gimmick of “heroes v. villains’ propped up “Survivor,” which saw a slight increase in ratings over a year ago with 14.2 million viewers on Feb. 11. “The Amazing Race,” up against the Olympics, brought in a respectable 9 million viewers.

-VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” with Bobby Brown and K-Fed, took in a relatively filling 1.9 million viewers in its season debut Feb. 8.

-Fox’s “Past Life,” as noted earlier, is dead in the water after an underwhelming 8.3 million viewers after “Idol” Feb. 9 and a more dismal 5.3 million viewers on Thursday. The show shot six episodes in Atlanta.

-Tyler Perry was unable to boost a special two-hour “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Sunday night against the Olympics. The show drew its worst ratings in years with just six million viewers.

- BET’s “The Michael Vick” project shed one third of is 1.66 million viewers a week later. Last Tuesday, the image reclamation project fell to just 1.05 million viewers.

- FX’s “Archer,” created by two Atlantans, lost two-thirds of its original audience over four episodes, dropping to 622,000 Feb. 5. Good news (sorta): it bounced back in week 5 to 758,000.

-Lifetime’s “Project Runway” is holding its own at 2.9 million Feb. 11, the same as its opening numbers a month earlier. Atlanta’s Anthony Williams won his first challenge, too, and will have his dress worn by Heidi Klum on the cover of Marie Claire.
