TV best bets with the Olympics and whatever rivals are throwing at it

vancouverlogo-300x286CBS and Fox both have ceded most of this week and next to NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage by running a vast number of repeats. And very few new series are debuting.

What remains? Mostly serialized shows such as “24″ and “Lost,” as well as reality shows such as “American Idol,” “Survivor,” “The Bachelor” and ‘The Amazing Race.” ABC is also airing a new “Desperate Housewives” on Sunday.

Cable, too, has plenty to offer if the Olympics are not your cup of tea. The season finale of TNT’s drama “Leverage” airs Wednesday and dog lovers can lap up the Westminster Dog Show on USA is on Monday and Tuesday. Plus, there are fresh episodes of cable reality shows such as “Celebrity Fit Club” (VH1, Mondays), “The Michael Vick Project” (BET, Tuesdays), “Sheer Genius” (Bravo, Wednesdays) and “Project Runway” (Lifetime, Thursdays),
