Jeff Dauler is returning to Q100’s Bert Show

ferris

Jeff Dauler returned to the Bert Show, entering the studio at 7:43 a.m., after lengthy back-and-forth negotiations.

“It’s done,” Jeff said. He said the attention he’s been getting felt like Ferris Bueller (left). “I’m so embarrassed by this,” he said. “It was really surprising.”

Jeff has been off the air since Monday. His last three-year contract expired December 31. I’m told a rival station (likely, Star 94) offered him a good deal late last year, which triggered a “right to match” provision. Q100 had the right to match or improve upon the offer by Friday. If they chose not to, he would have gone to Star. But Q100 decided to pay up. The terms were not revealed on the air. I hear he will be making well into the six figures and that he may have even gotten a raise in the end. He has endorsement deals with Georgia’s Own Credit Union and AT&T.

Based on Jeff’s “Jersey Shore” analogy story on his blog yesterday, he was offered a good renewal deal last summer. He didn’t take it immediately. He looked at other options simply because he wanted to see what he was worth in this current market. Some other options were decent but he decided to stay with Q100 and told the bosses he was ready to sign the original deal. Q100 management, however, changed the offer and made it significantly worse.

Bert Weiss tried to work things out as a go between. It became a stalemate. Then the rival station’s offer came in and things looked pretty bleak for Jeff staying at Q100. The station even pulled his name off the Web site last Wednesday, the day before his contract was over. He was off the air Monday. But clearly, Q100 management had a change of heart this week.

“There was a lot of anger, a lot of questioning. It was really stressful for both of us,” he said, referencing his wife Jessica, who does a weekly “Jessica Shops” segment. “It’s like asking out the person who just called you ugly and fat.”

“The reason why I’m in this chair is because of the people in this room,” he added.

“There was collateral damage,” Bert said, including all the vitriol against traffic gal Wendy Adams.

“I didn’t read it,” Wendy said. (Smart move.)

Jeff has been with the show since it started in the spring of 2001. As a producer, he not only provides sarcastic on-air comments but also books acts and helps design the show behind the scenes.

“It’s been a comedy hiatus since he’s been gone,” one caller said.

The Bert Show is one of the top morning shows in town. Among younger listeners, only Frank & Wanda at V-103 beats it.

Who would want to work at the struggling Snore 94? I would rather be a #2 man at the #1 station than a #1 man at a station that is on the way out.

Glad Jeff’s back. To have three of the original four people together for nearly nine years is truly unique in the radio business.

Brian, only that d-bag that does the evening show at Q100 uses the expression Snore 94. You and him friends?

Jeff & the whole Bert show need to get over themselves…they are 30 & 40 years old trying to sound so hip and cool….your whole “getting my drink on” schtick will not last much longer.
From what I know Jeff turned down a 10% pay cut offer earlier in the year and when he finally came back to accept it, the offer was a 25% pay cut. Welcome to the real world Jeff. Its a depressed economy right now I am sure many people would kill to have your 25% less salary. You are a DJ in a dying business who talks on the radio for 4- 5 hours and then get to be a mini celebrity for it…stop whining.

I like how stupid Wendy acted like she didnt read the blog.

Big Guy, that wasn’t Wendy, it was Jenn. She didn’t even read Jeff’s blog about the Jersey Shore metaphor. Which kinda shows that she didn’t really care to read his updates.

Then again, Jenn is always too full of herself to pay attention to anything anyway. She absolutely knows the least about the celeb stories she reports on.

Jeff Dauler is a fat loser with a bad haircut. He should have been fired years ago when he got busted plagiarizing a bit from the online humorist Maddox.

I like the show, I enjoy all the personalities but Wendy (sorry nice girl, but very out of her league in this business). I am glad Jeff is coming back. I do hope they look at revamping things a bit. The whole “dude” thing by Burt is soooo old, makes me think of the turtle Crush at Disney. Key phrases like that used over and over again, start sounding like someone trying too hard to sound hip and young. And Burt’s non-stop commercials about the diet aid, which won’t surprise me if in a few years or less, we start hearing horror stories about as we tend to with most “miracle” diet aids. But otherwise, fun show. Welcome back Jeff.

I have read the comments over the past few days and am so dissappointed in you people. So many critical remarks. There is a simple solution if you do not like TBS or the people on TBS. Change the station or turn off your radio. Done Deal!!!

I have mixed emotions about Jeff returning to the Bert Show. In my opinion they should have hired Carl instead of Wendy. Love ya Carl keep up the good work. Maybe you can replace Jeff When he throws his next temperature tantrum!!

So, Jeff didn’t sign his original contract because he wanted to look around, and when he came back they lowered it?

HELLO?!?! Sounds like the radio station is the smart one and Jeff’s the idiot. If I offer you a contract to keep working for me and you go shopping for another job, odds are I’ll just fire your butt instead. He got lucky they offered him anything.

Seriously Jeff – you’re clueless.

Jeff going back was inevitable. Now he and his annoying wife get to pollute the airwaves some more. Why should he get a pay raise, you idiots have no idea that these radio “personalities” get paid anywhere from $200-1000/week to pitch products…I mean Bert is pitching some weight loss product, but didn’t he spend ALL of 2008 working with Dolvet the trainer and talking about how the only way to stay fit was hard work and excercise….guess with an additional $1000 week he’ll tell you a pill will work, now if only there was a pill for his trailer park betrothed!

The cast is a reflection of the tired, pretentious Atlanta suburbs…whose time has gone, hence the ENOURMOUS amounts of foreclosed homes…why not something fresh versus something tired?

There will be both negative and positive comments. In all jobs we are subject to criticism. In a job in the public eye, the comments, both good and bad will be public as well. Some comments, I hope they can run with, and make positive changes. No show is perfect. I like the show, some members I like a little better than others. But there is always room for improvement, and the key here, will be that they look at many of the negative comments as a way to improve, sift those out from just plain nastiness. But I think some very valid criticisms have come out, and they should take the constructive criticisms to improve on the show.

Hey, I am truly happy he’s back for one reason…HE HAS A JOB! So many people today don’t and he’s lucky (blessed, fortunate…insert your own adjective here) he gets to go to work each day and do something he loves to do. How many of you can honestly say that?

There is NO way that Wendy didn’t read the comments. She is waaaay too narcisstic to not read them. I really wish Q100 would take into account how disliked she is but she’s probably sleeping with the powers that be. How else did she get that gig? She should be serving at Hooters so she can get all those compliments she’s constantly fishing for and meet the d-bags she likes to hook up with instead of insulting us with her ignorance each morning and bringing down the Bert Show.

Surfer – you’re right about him having a job. Problem is, while thousands are being laid off, he was holding out because he didn’t want to take the pay-cut they were giving him – AFTER HE TRIED TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. He should have signed the original contract and said “Thank you for keeping me employed.” He didn’t – he spit at them.

CJ, SO true. She’s an idiot!! I bet you the ratings will still be down even with Jeff back. I cannot STAND, Wendy. I hope that Q100 is looking at these comments and listen to their listeners. Also, I know for a fact Bert and his wife are SWINGERS!!!!!!!!!!! Remember the Pink Pony in 2007, Bert ;)

I am not saying all Atlanta radio sucks (some of those folks get paid a lot of money, but for what?), but XM radio is definitely the way to go. Morning radio has the same old stories, each and every day… Very boring…

This show needs to remember they are much older than those they are trying to be soooooo cool with. Most late 30 to 40 year olds don’t go out every weekend and party it up and get that “wasted”. And STOP trying to be so down w/ the brothas – Bert!! You are NOT!!!

I’m glad he’s back, his sarcasm is hilarious. But as someone mentioned Wendy just doesn’t fit in well with the show. I know they’re looking for a young perspective but you can only talk about dating, drinking, hook-ups for so long.

I agree with “Hello”, it was funny to hear them pretend like they didn’t know. But if you notice, their “acting” is not always the greatest. I just smile when they do that weekly….I love the Bert Show and I’ve been there since the beginning. I enjoy the Foursome and not a big fan of Wendy. I will refrain from saying anything else because it would be mean and pointless. Glad that the Awesome Foursome are back together…

I’m confused as to what Jeff meant with his Ferris Bueller comment.

I’ve seen that movie, oh, about a thousand times. And the only scene in which he gets attention is the parade near the end. And it’s certainly not one of the most memorable pieces of the movie.

Seems like a guy who talks for a living could have come up with a better, more applicable analogy.

the entire Bert Show is totally obnoxious and a complete waste of air space. Just what we all need, more prank calls and “sarcastic comments” to start out our day….if they are aiming for mindless “jerry springer-esque” drama, they hit the nail on the head.
I like Dave FM 92.9-where you actually get to listen to music in the morning-what a novel idea….

Jeff this is a classic case of GREED and DISLOYALTY – If I were your boss, you would have paid a hefty price for your studid antics – 1. Get a worse deal from the 2nd offer or 2. you get the stepping !

As I listened to the segment on breast feeding yesterday (on Q100) I realized that the segment would’ve been much better if Jeff were involved in the discussion… Then I started thinking that maybe Southside Steve would be a good replacement… Then I realized that the best segments involving Southside, involved Jeff…

Welcome back Jeff. You’re not the show, but the show is certainly complete with you there.
