Daily News report: Bravo willing to dump NeNe and Kim for demanding too much
The New York Daily News, using an unnamed source inside Bravo, today says “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is willing to dump NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak, arguably the most controversial and dynamic figures on the show, if the pair keep asking for too much money.
What’s too much money? I couldn’t say. Leakes has said they were paid $100,000 for season two. I’m not sure what a reasonable amount would be for a third season or whether all five (or potentially six) housewives would get paid the same salary.
Bravo has offered contracts to all five existing housewives to come back. Now it comes down to how much each side is willing to give. And yes, Bravo knows a show isn’t necessarily just about one person.
I’d be fascinated, though, to see if Bravo is willing to let go of BOTH of them. That’d be a major blow, I’d think, to the show’s appeal.
The Daily News story does properly note that Kandi Burruss is now the most likable and popular member of the show. But she isn’t terribly controversial. They need lightning rods like Zolciak and Leakes around. Oddly, the story also says Sheree Whitfield is among the more popular members of the show. That certainly is not true, based on the polls I’ve posted here in the past.
And the story also notes that Bravo is fishing for a new housewife, one way or another, confirming what Burruss told me last month.
I’ve left messages with both Kim and NeNe. I can’t see why they’d have much to say to me about it, though. (UPDATE: As of Monday, December 14, I got nothin’.)
UPDATE: (Monday, Dec. 14): TMZ had a funny item on Saturday that I can’t verify: that one of the complaints NeNe and Kim are having are the high electric bills they are garnering because the Bravo film crews are sucking up their energy. Also, the women want travel upgrades: no coach seats for these celebrity types!
And if you want a laugh, here’s Kim Zolciak starting to sing “Tardy for the Party” on Ellen DeGeneres earlier this week before Ellen interrupted her with a Christmas giveaway.
Bravo aired a “lost footage” leftovers episode last night. I haven’t had time (or energy) to sit through the entire show. It featured a wine party Lisa held in which NeNe, Sheree and Kandi showed up three-plus hours late. Lisa was not pleased. They went to some spa and NeNe was acting all blase and jealous about the burgeoning friendship between Kim and Kandi.

The judge needs to drop the manslaughter charges against the man who was involved in a fight with kandi’s boyfriend. The judge is only trying to get her fifteen minutes of fame. Her actions are disgraceful.

Jeez…I cannot believe I actually played 30-some seconds of that video. Words cannot express how freaking horrible that singing voice is. That this show is popular only proves the point that we (not me, but a collective “we”) like to watch train wrecks in progress. How else to explain “Destroyed in SECONDS” with that Ron Pitts guy. Same thing here, watching a load of pathetic fame-seekers show their backside to America.

The only regret I have is these stupid, talentless buffoons make themselves–and Atlanta— look like a pack of urban bi-yatches backstabbing, scratching and clawing each other.
Most of these women are “kept hoes” or discarded ex’s living off their long-gone husbands.
Atlanta is not THAT urban, and not a bunch of mean-spirited, foreclosed on, living above their means, over-hyped egos with zero social graces and certainly not representative of Atlanta’s southern graces and hospitality.
I hope the show closes down and fades from memory.

I find it very upsetting as a back women in Atlanta for Bravo to portray these women as ghetto, uneducated, DIVORCED gold diggers. Truthfully I feel that there’s some underlying issues going on here. There’s some major sterotyping going on people. Not all black women act ghetto and are as ignorant as Nene and Sheree. And then they go and get the trashiest white girl who was an ex stripper. I mean cmon Bravo. The one thing I do find funny is watching these ho’s embarrass themselves with every show. If you want to watch some real housewives, check out the orange county chicks. Those girls are HOT!! The Atl show is a joke. I stopped watching the past season. Not like I was really ever interested. Just goes to show that anyone can get on TV!! HAHA!!

Lastly I can’t believe this show is going to be on again. This really shows the dumbing down of America that people are willing to watch this filth, about woman who haven’t accomplished a thing and make fools of themselves. I wish they would start calling the show the Gwinett Housewives because 80% can’t afford to live in the city, especially the ritzy areas where these woman are a joke to the residents here. I agree! Nene is so annoying and she’s stupid. Get her off the show. Sheree is so unlikable, until its UNREAL. They are both dragging down the show. Kim, though tasteless and vapid, is just enjoyable to watch for all her ditsyness and over the top spending. I am REALLY tired of this show not having more of a variety of women on it. Here’s an idea Bravo….why don’t you keep the trashiest…Kim.. and Kandi, and Lisa (both of who, I like) and then add some women who are the OTHER side of the fence. Like, conservative, rich, white women who frequent that Piedmont Driving Club and wear their mother’s pearls and went to all the best schools? Now, THAT, would be VERY interesting. I’d love to see how that crowd interacts together. Would gaurantee some good entertainment and would show some other types of “REAL housewives of Atlanta”.
What does everyone on here think? I swear, I should be in show business. I’d come up with some kick-a– ideas!

Please Please stop referring to all women of Atlanta when comparing them to the Real Housewives of Duluth, Lawrenceville, Buckhead and Fayetteville. They are not from Atlanta and only one was born and raised here. The rest are transparent transplants. I wish everyone would stop dumping ALL the trash in Atlanta when it is not the city’s mess. I just want to know what show would portray liars on it to begin with. Why have housewives who trully aren’t what the show is about.
