Not surprisingly, the big Georgia vs. Georgia Tech game last Saturday was by far the biggest program of the week during primetime in Atlanta as nearly one million people caught UGA upsetting the Yellow Jackets.

The finale performance show for ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” came up next. It just barely topped “NCIS” for the first time this season with 20.4 million viewers. And the finale, in which Donny Osmond won, with 19.3 million, was the lowest since season one for the show but still an impressive figure in this day and age.

For the first time November 23, CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” beat “Two and a Half Men” in overall ratings with 14.1 million viewers vs. 13.9 million. It’s the show’s best numbers ever. I’d call it almost like a passing of the sitcom guard! The show even made it into the Atlanta top 20, which is rare. “NCIS: Los Angeles” the next night had its strongest showing since episode No. 2 with 17.2 million and even beat “NCIS” in Atlanta.

ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” hit a series low Nov. 30 with just 12.8 million viewers. Fox’s “House” is way down, too, at 12 million viewers.

I wasn’t able to get cable numbers from my source yet but will update this if I can.

I like how the Bulldogs stole Green Bays logo and just painted it red. Just like everything else that is unoriginal in Atlanta. Besides, college ball sucks. Why do I want to watch hamburgers when I can watch steak???

Sinkbo, if you’ll do a little online research you’ll find that the Green Bay “G” logo has actually been changed to resemble the Georgia “G” and that the Packers were contacted by Vince Dooley back in the 60s to make sure there was no problem in the Dawgs using a similar logo. Nothing stolen at all.

And Rodney, Lady Antebellum’s new song is called “Need You NOW,” not “know.”

Green Bay has the logo trademarked and Georgia has to get permission to use it, from Green Bay. It’s not even like it was an accident. Dooley saw Green Bays logo and thought, HEY I WANT THAT TOO!!! Hence my point of lack of originality. I guess it was too hard to come up with something of your own. But like I said, I’m not a fan of college ball anyways.

Sinkbo, learn how to read, would ya?

From The UGA Athletics Website “georgiadogs.com” :
“The Georgia “G” Helmet
In 1963 after becoming the Bulldogs’ Head Football Coach, Vince Dooley redesigned the football uniform choosing a red helmet with a black “G” on a white background as the dominant feature of the new uniform for the 1964 season.

He discussed with his staff that a forward-looking “G” would be an appropriate emblem for the helmet of the Georgia team. Dooley had just hired John Donaldson, former Georgia player from 1945 to 1948, as backfield coach. John was keen on the idea of a new image and volunteered his wife, Anne, who had a BFA in commercial art from UGA to design a logo for the new Georgia helmet with the general specifications Dooley had outlined. Dooley accepted Anne’s original “G” which fit his vision for a forward look to Georgia’s new emblem.

Since the Georgia “G”- though different in design and color- was similar to Green Bay’s “G”, Coach Dooley thought it best to clear the use of Georgia’s new emblem with the NFL team. Athletic Director Joel Eaves called for permission which was granted. However, since its inception in 1961, the Green Bay “G” has been redesigned several times and now looks like Georgia’s original 1964 “G.” Georgia is proud that the Packers apparently liked the special nuances of the Bulldogs’ forward-looking “G.”

Georgia’s oval “G”, eventually replacing Georgia’s old block “G” as the official UGA symbol, has stood the test of time. It made its first appearance in the opening game in 1964 and was an immediate hit with the Georgia fans, especially after Dooley’s first three teams were so successful–highlighted by the 1966 SEC Championship.”

That’s the real story. Forget the Packers.

lol, right. So GA copied Green Bay. I get it!

http://www.collegefootballhistory.com/georgia/history.htm

The Georgia “G” Helmet

The unique Georgia helmet featuring the oval “G” has become a tradition that is known across the country as the logo of the Georgia Bulldogs. The basic design was instituted by Vince Dooley when he became head coach in 1964. He had been impressed with the look of the helmet worn by the Green Bay Packers which featued the oval “G” but in a different color scheme. Dooley settled on the black oval “G” surrounded by a white oval background resting on each side of the bright red helmet. A white stripe was placed over the top. The design has remained basically the same ever since; however, a smaller black stripe was added inside the white stripe over the top in 1996 by new head coach Jim Donnan.

So how does it feel to root for a team that uses another teams logo?? lol
