Who won ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

Donny Osmond DWTS

The Osmond magic didn’t get Marie to the “Dancing With the Stars” trophy season five but her brother Donny redeemed her loss Tuesday night two years later.

It was obviously R&B singer Mya’s to lose after getting 87 to 90 points Monday. But lifelong entertainer Donny kept it close, garnering 85 and on one dance, his first perfect score. If this show were purely about skill, the judges would have crowned Mya. But Donny’s popularity with the voters and impressive showmanship pushed him past the finish line.

The youthful 51 year old was the first contestant over the age of 40 to win the title after nine seasons. And it was all the more impressive considering he was commuting to Las Vegas every week to do a show with his sister.

Kelly Osbourne lagged behind at 76 points and was the first one eliminated at 10:54 p.m. EST.

Kelly showed moxie throughout the competition and wore her heart on her sleeve on and off the stage. She improved week after week. She came across much better than her younger, petulant teen self on the MTV show many years ago.

Was Donny's victory deserved?

Recaps. Alex Mazo dancing. Recaps. Whitney Houston. Recaps. Jeffrey Ross’s ultra-pale body. Recaps. Adam Corolla attempting humor. Best of dances from each of the three finalists. Tom DeLay. I think Mya was robbed…….though it’s true that her freestyle was a bit lackluster…however, she was by far the better dancer. I guess popularity won over skill. I mean with the entire Osmond family voting and all those middle-aged women who had the hots for Donny…Mya didn’t stand a chance.

I watch 10 minutes of one episode. I can dance better than Osmond. And that is not saying much.

I know that Donny O doesn’t feel that he deserves the trophy. Most of Mya’s dances were flawless. I admit that I didn’t like her freestyle dance last night, but not to the point of Donny winning. File a police report b/c Mya was CLEARLY ROBBED. I’m NOT watching Dancing With The Stars anymore.

“get over it peeps” Donnie was the best and you all know it. Mya did a good job but not good enough, the people have spoken.

Mya was robbed big time. Guess skill does not matter!

This was my last season to watch the show. This has become nothing more than a popularity contest. I refuse to waste another season watching a show that does not reward the BEST dancer.

Mya was the real winner for this season….I never understand why this happens when you have a great dancer like Mya and Mel B.; however, someone with less skills win. Mya had the following but you could sense that the win was moving towards Donny. I guess an Osmond had to win. Wow, this show is disappointing.

It’s just a fun show–who cares if a celebrity dancer was robbed? Gilles was robbed last time. Mya was robbed this time. Do you really lose? Gilles has all these tv and movie offers now from being on DwtS. Kelly Osborne no longer seems so horribly annoying. Everyone wins! It really doesn’t matter who gets the mirror ball. Chill out.

Not sure how anyone could be “robbed” if it was America voting…unless there were dimpled chad that weren’t counted….

Of course Donnie won. It isn’t a dance competition, it is a popularity contest. Donnie Osmond fans from the 70’s still love Donnie. Therefore they voted for him not the better dancer.

Donnie deserved the trophy! He was far better and the most improved than any other! His age was a big factor against him and I truly believe he was the best! Regardless of who he is he came a very long way from the beginning!

Mya was already a pro. I gave all my last votes to Donnie. I voted for Kelly all the way but she was too far behind in the judges votes to win. This competition is about work and improvement. Mya came out of the starting gate a winner. Not fair!!

I loved him in the 70’s with the Osmond Bros, in the 90’s as Joseph, and now, as a dancer. Donny is a timeless winner!

I was very disappointed with the win for tonight. Mya throughout the entire season never skipped a beat. She ALWAYS delivered on time with her dances without never messing up. The mere fact that all of that hard work was for nothing. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

And lets not forget the $300,000 gymnast, Shawn Johnson won because she had it written into her contract somewhere. Maybe Donnie did the same. He’s shark that one & don’t let that Mormon stuff fool you.

If you are looking for a show that is about dancing talent, watch So You Think You Can Dance, especially the Canadian version! If you want to see celebrities learn to be hoofers (most of some of whom are not a-list, b-list , or even c-list “stars”) keep it tuned to DWTS. It was fun, I enjoyed it., and if I hadn’t, I know how to turn it off!

Shawn Johnson won “Dancing with the Stars” last night — but in more important news, she just banked $365,000 doing it. Repeat: THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS.

We got a hold of Shawn’s “Dancing” contract a while back, which stated she would bank $125,000 up front, then incremental paychecks that topped off at $50k a week for the last 2 episodes.

I didnt like Mya, she thinks she is better than everyone else. Donny did a great job but I have to say kelly was my favorite all season because she did improve every week and it was great watching her transform from a wild child to a young woman.

MORE FROM TMZ . . .

We’ve obtained a copy of Shawn’s “Dancing” contract — a public document filed with the L.A. County Superior Court. A judge had to approve the deal because she’s a minor. Under the contract, Shawn gets a guarantee of $125,000 for appearing on the show. By surviving the first elimination, she gets an additional $10,000 a week for weeks 3 and 4.

If Shawn survives the next eliminations, the rate doubles to $20,000 a week for weeks 5, 6 and 7. For weeks 8 and 9 she scores $30,000 a week.

And here’s where it really gets sweet. In weeks 10 and 11, if Shawn makes it through, she gets $50,000 a week.

Total take if Shawn makes it to the final 2 — $365,000.

Under the contract, Shawn must train approximately 20 hours a week. As for the all important issue of injuries … the contract makes it clear that “Dancing” has no liability. It reads, “Artist releases Producer, Network … from any and all claims … arising from physical or other injury resulting from Artist’s appearance in the Series…”

Nice work if you can get it.

Hooray for Donny: A good, clean family man who loves his country and is kind, generous and fun. Gee, I wonder why he won. HE DESERVED IT. and besides, he’s fifty one and he kept up with all of the other young’uns.

It’s really simple: Mya lost because her freestyle wasn’t very exciting- Donny’s was great. Look at past seasons- it’s all about the freestyle. Yes, Mya was the better dancer and overall the season’s best performer but Donny won the freestyle round. If you win the freestyle, you will win the trophy.

This show is bogus and it is clearly not about who is the best dancer. It’s who is most popular among the viewers. The winner clearly was Mya and Kelly right behind her. No longer interested in ever watching this BS show again!

AWESOME JOB, DONNY! You were raised in showbiz and continues to please. Kelly got shafted and showed excellent improvement week after week. Mya acted like she won weeks ago and guess what? You lost. Thank you, American Voters, for selecting the right winner.

I agree with mostly everyone on here, Mya was robbed. I don’t think the public should get %25 of the vote, not 50. Her and Mel B didn’t win because quite frankly they weren’t as well known or popular as some of the other dances like Donny. Although I really would have been pissed if Kelly Osborne won. Even though I thought Mya was robbed, I’m not too upset that Donny won. He was tood too.

It was so obvious last night. Donny’s wooden/showmanship freestyle getting 10’s to Mya’s 9’s even though it was by far more complex and flawless. I think they wanted a man to win again and the whole state of Utah was voting. What really annoyed me was Donny’s begging, whining and bragging throughout the competition. Mya was gracious.

Myra

Donny is clearly not a skillful dancer, and it is sad that neither he nor his fan base know this. His delivery on the majority of his dances was not good. The judges overrated his performance. He had excuses for all of his mistakes. He should have been eliminated early in the contest. Yes this was a dance contest, not a popularity movement. Donny knows within his heart that Mya is the better dancer and deserved to win. DWTS is a joke, and proved what many people learned from past seasons, that it is a waste of contestants’ time to spend so many weeks practicing for a reward that will not be granted based on your dancing talent.

i am so glad donnie got it. he really listened to everything the judges said each week and improved each week. and he was humble. mya thought she couldnt be beat and to her it was in the bag.she came across as arrogant and pompasssss. donnie had style and and looked like a true performer that he is. next time mya should remember alittle humility and dont forget the old saying there is always someone out there that can beat you so dont think there isn’t.

No, Kenneth, you’re right. The times haven’t changed one iota.
Even though we have a black man sitting as president, people still cry “RACISM” at every slight, real or imagined.
I thought Obama’s election was supposed to enable us to move on. Can we PLEASE move on? GOD!!
