TBS’s “The George Lopez Show” averaged 1.6 million viewers its first week, a very solid week based on modest expectations.

TBS sent out a release gleaning the best data from the first week. His viewers’ median age was 33, the youngest among late-night talk shows.

Among 18-49 and 18-34 demographics, he beat season-to-date averages of shows such as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” (Kimmel is on at 12:05 a.m. and Ferguson starts at 12:35 a.m. but Stewart is head to head with Lopez.)

About one-third of his audience came from Hispanics and 24% came from African Americans.

The four-day total on TBS was 1.8 million Monday, 1.4 million Tuesday, 2 million on Wednesday (after Tyler Perry’s shows) and 1.3 million Thursday.

I have not seen his show, but I hear it’s a very welcomed show that is similar to the Arsenio Hall Show from yester-year. I will be watching this week.

I’ve not seen his new show but when I’ve seen him on other channels I’ve found him to be loud, crass, and vulgar…..and not very funny. I won’t be watching his show on TBS.

George Lopez just furthers the stereotype that George Lopez is funny.

I’m sure George will do fine. However I did force myself to sit through Wanda Sykes “Obamalogue” sat night and it was too lame. I really wish this woman and that voice would go away.

Captain Midnight, I like your characterization of Wanda Sykes “Obamalogue”. I turned on long enough to hear her trashing Bush and immediately turned the channel. Won’t be watching Sykes again. She is funny, but will the liberals ever get off of Pres. Bush’s back? Enough already; Bush isn’t President any longer so you Bush haters should be happy and move on.

George Lopez is funny, but as of late, I find him too political. I’m almost insulted by it. I’d rather watch Craig Ferguson or Jon Stewart. They don’t insult me with their brand of humor!

George Lopez is so unfunny, that he needs to call Sarah Palin a “piece if s***”, and to say crude things about her daughter in his pitiful plea for laughs…I wont be watching him…

GEORGE LOPEZ IS FRIGGIN HILARIOUS!!! I’ve watched all of the late night shows, and I am an avid viewer of the daily show and colbert report. But let me tell you one thing, I RECORD LOPEZ TONIGHT EVERY NIGHT SO THAT I CAN LAUGH MY BUTT OFF IN THE MORNING. All that I know is this, the first time that I watched the show, which was the third episode, I said “HE’S GOT A HIT SHOW ON HIS HANDS WITHOUT A DOUBT!” I’ve called my family around Tx and told them about it and they had already heard how his new show was at their jobs, so now they are watching it also. Great job TBS….ya’ll are lucky to have such a gifted comedian. I grew up poor as a white girl and I can so relate to his Grandmother stories!

I agree with George about la cabrona de palin. Echale Carnal… I also think he should have mexican musicians (Ramon Ayala, Los Tigres del Norte)for his real fans who know the best of both worlds.

I have watched the show since inception and think it is creative and on the vanguard. Some constructive criticism would be that just like Latinos demand respect of other groups, so too Latinos need to respect others. Many of the comments George makes of others are in very poor taste or right out offensive–Latinos would be up in arm of those same jokes were directed at them. Case in point, Letterman got fried for comments he made about Palin’s daughter. George made an even worst joke about Bristol. Family of political (even if only want–be), should be off limits. True comedy is hard work, cheap shots are not. It is time that we Latinos be held to a high standard of etiquette as well. George, pay your writers a little more money so you can produce more universal humor, that is more respectful of others—don’t diminish your enormous talent by succumbing to vile temptation.

Watched for the first time tonight… it’s 11:09 and can’t stand it any more – not funny. Enough with the Palin jokes, McCain jokes, and come on…Clinton jokes! He’s been out of office for years now and we hardly ever here anything about him and George is still making Clinton jokes. Oh well, Letterman has done the same thing for years, and who looks like the ass now!

Was this Show really worth the money? I mean ok Lopez is weak as a comedian…. the race jokes are so old…. some of them are funny but ok can you joke about anything outside of the box now? common.. Today he had a little boy singing like he had soul Justin with the this album called My World…that lil boy cant sing and looks like the record company just pumped him up and spent lots of money on this little boy. Chris Rock would eat him alive and Dane Cook would eat him alive so would Dave…. Its good to have a latin show like this but Does he have to be so weak? I would like to see more Hot people on the show besides the guest…Lopez looks so unattractive.

George Lopez has a lot of political jokes, too bad they are on the wrong side of the political spectrum. Political jokes are funny when there is some truth behind them. I didn’t find the Sarah Palin jokes humorous at all. There are tons of material that his leftist political party puts out everyday, yet Lopez chooses to ignore it all.

Sorry George you’ve lost me and my family as fans. We will be staying away from anything related to George Lopez.

Dude, what’s up with your Sarah Palin jokes? Have some class man. Want to represent your race as someone without any education? just did – I for one, am proud of my latino roots, which have nothing to do with who you are trying to represent. One is definitely entitled to his/her opinion, but lack of respect while expressing opinions is another thing altogether. Followed your show and stand-up until now. What happened to you? maybe you were always full of yourself, I just didn’t see it until Monday night’s show. Still wish you success and hope the light goes on for you soon. Keep it clean, it’s how you show true talent, and keep it humble bro, you might come crashing down sooner than you think.

I love watching George Lopez and you are funny. Tonight show was offensive i think the author to black is the new white has some major races issues. I would never buy his book and would not suggest to anyone else to do so. He came out in your show to let the audience know that no one matters but blacks. My daughter was watching and asked if he hated white people i just let her know that he was one person with no class. I am hispanic and in my family we treat everyone the same we don’t jdge by the color of a persons skin. How can you have such araces person in your show and say you have respect for him. The people that he mention football, basketball ect… are doing what they like and are good at it, has nothing to do with there color skin. Best of wishes and god bless all human kind.

Didn’t know much about him until I accidentally tuned into his late night show. After watching the first show, I set it up to tape everynight. I enjoy most of his shows but the joke about Palin’s daughter just wasn’t necessary. Say all you want about her but kids are off limits. Come on George, if you have to go there to get laughs, it ain’t gonna last very long.

George is puro vacil. Don’t get upset if he excludes you from laffing. Axe me if I care. Stoopid..I’m sorry I meant pendijo! Freedom of espeech. George represents himself, not Latinos. Get a degree first before trying to criticize. Getting one from a judge doesn’t count. So, Shata.

Love the show…love the way in whcih Mr. Jorge Lopez does not shy away from telling it how it is. All of you who in an attempt to seem “respectful” and represent your socially defined ethnic/cultural group, laugh a little, stop being stiff in the rear! Always critiquing others to boost your own ego, thats the first thing you should check and eliminate from your habits. Now, if your an Americanized “white is right” kind of robot, stay away from the show; your respectful ways are clogging my arteries with BOOORING!

Alfredoe, maybe you can tell me how a Latino like yourself becomes anti-liberal. Or you just that desensitized? ? Come on vato, with a name like Alfredo ya gotta be Latino. By choice or is it by environment that you are on the opposite side of the fence? Don’t be alarmed, but have you noticed your side is almost at sea level? Sinking comes to mind.
