Radio bits: 100.1 shifts format; Moby off 92.5 the Bear; Cadillac Jack adds syndicated show, new PD at Groove 105.7

It’s been one of those days I can’t reach anybody but here are bits I’ve gleaned from the folks at radio-info.com:

moby

- 92.5 The Bear, a country station on the south side, has dropped Moby’s syndicated show. He remains on South 107.1 in Rome and WNGC in Athens.

-Cadillac Jack is starting a syndicated afternoon show for Citadel (which is cost cutting like mad) on top of his Kicks 101.5 morning show. His afternoon show will be heard in smaller markets elsewhere. It won’t include Dallas McCade. It will be voice-tracked ahead of time after he finishes his morning show and resemble the afternoon show he used to do on Kicks before he went to mornings.

-100.1, which has been simulcasting La Raza 102.3 is now running a Viva-like Hispanic pop station instead of La Raza’s regional Mexican format. Many years ago, 100.1 (owned by Davis Broadcasting) was Sunny 100.1, an oldies station. The station covers the north side of Atlanta.

- Groove 105.7 just ended its 10,000 songs in a row. The station has added a new program director Duncan Payton, who will also be on air. When he starts and where has not bee announced.

- B98.5 is doing an all-80s weekend. In the past couple of years, the station had done “teaser” Christmas weekends in November. I guess that isn’t happening – at least this weekend. Usually, B98.5 goes all Christmas the week of Thanksgiving.

Rodney, I think the Bear is 92.5, not 92.3. I hope you have a great weekend.

I like the fact that B98.5FM plays Christmas music at the right time…never too early.

Hey, Rodney — I have loved the Groove 105.7 so far — a good, eclectic mix of dance and party music. But I have lived in other markets where this has been tried, and it usually only lasts for six months – one year. Do you think Groove has long-term viability here? Or will whoever owns it play the greed card and say “Our ad revenue isn’t the same as V-103 or Q100, so let’s switch formats”?

I miss Moby on Kicks..Cadillac is ok, he just trys to be funny and he’s not..If he would stop trying, the show would be much better..
