Three shows were axed this week. Kelsey Grammer’s second post-”Frasier” failure in a row called “Hank” on ABC, Fox’s Joss Whedon sci-fi thriller “Dollhouse” and ABC’s “Eastwick,” a play off the “Witches of Eastwick” film.
In both the cases of “Eastwick” and “Dollhouse,” the remaining ordered episodes will air. It’s not clear if ABC will do the same for “Hank.”
In terms of ratings, all three did poorly. Grammer’s “Hank” opening Wednesdays saw its numbers fall ever since its opening amid poor critical reviews. Most recently, Nov. 4, it drew 5.1 million viewers and came in last among the four major networks 18-49 with a 1.4 rating.
“Eastwick,” starring Rebecca Romijn, opened with a promising 8.5 million viewers Sept. 23 but samplers fled. By November 5, only 4.4 million stuck around.
“Dollhouse,” according to Ausiello, will end its run after 13 episodes. The show averaged a modest 4.7 million freshman year and was on the verge of being cancelled. But fans convinced Fox to give it another chance. It is averaging only 3 million viewers this season.

If only “Hank” had been a remake of the esteemed 1965 one-season NBC-TV Friday Night hit starring Dick Kallman (also titled “Hank”, appropriately & ironically enough), surely ol’ Kelsey would have had a runaway hit lasting eight or ten seasons, yesiree no doubt!

Poor Kelsey is having problems making lightning strike twice in having 2 successful television series. The last one on Fox wasn’t that bad and could have been a success had Fox hung in there. Hank was just awful. Nobody could carry that show. In fact, I bet the re-runs of Frasier had better ratings than Hank.

I haven’t had television for years and now I notice that one of my neighbors has given it the toss.I use the computer for news, weather, and looking up information.Television is history as far as I’m concerned.

Dollhouse wasn’t bad, it just had an awful time slot. I’ve seen worse shows hang on for years. This was a clever concept and was pretty well written in the first season. The 2nd season, they moved away from what worked the first time around and it wasn’t as much fun.

I watched Hank twice. The first time it was bad, the second time was just horrible. In fact I could only stand the second show a mere 5 minutes. The show wasn’t funny at all. Now Modern family is the exact opposite of Hank.

Why is it a retarded reality show can stay strong but shows that are entertaining like Eastwick, Dollhouse, and Samatha Who get the axe. People have no taste in shows anymore I say axe all reality tv shows.

what ticks me off is that those of us who have SOME intelligence about us have to PAY extra (i.e. HB0,etc.) for programs we enjoy. i am not happy about the cancelling of “EASTWICK”. It’s smart, funny, intelligent, etc. so, naturally it cannot compete with, say, “Dancing With the Stars”-GAG! Argh! I am espcially disappointed because second series in two years that Lindsey Price involved in that i have LOVED and axed!!!!!!!!!!!! (I LOVED “Lipstick Jungle”) Lindsey, you are doing FAB it’s the “big three” networks that SUCK!! whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you Eastwick fans!!!! i am also upset with them cancelling the show. It has all the right stuff for a great show. Hopefully they will get enough complaints so they would have to keep it on or another network will pick it up.

Once again, i can’t believe we get another damn show cancelled!!!! This is just INCREDIBLE.This just makes me want to STOP WATCHING NETWORK TELEVISION. Its absolutely the same thing as going to the movie theater and the movie ends 25 minutes early. Most shows i have seen in my life, ive missed the 1st,maybe the 2nd season but have caught up later after word of mouth gets around. NOW U DONT EVEN GET A CHANCE!!!!

I am so upset!!! Eastwick is my FAVORITE. by far. Wednesday is the only day I watch TV, Modern Family at 9 and Eastwick at 10. I look forward to Eastwick for the entire week!!! If it just had a better time slot people would watch it, it’s amazing!
