Only a thousand people carry PPM meters. We used to get considerable ratings under survey, but now the rating pops to 0.5% every few months and is otherwise NIL. The niche stations are being ignored by PPM.

Here's the deal, it's not about size it's about quality. Ok, sometimes it's about size, but with a station like The Zone with that 25-34, 25-44 male demo and like most sports talk stations, a high listener loyalty, that's what really matters to an advertiser - which is any station's main concern. If you're an advertiser with male oriented products and you can get a lot of frequency on a station that reaches mostly males who listen a lot, then it's a no brainer, regardless of their rank because even if the overall reach (number of ears) is less, you're reaching into those ears they do have much more and that my friends is what radio is all about. $$$

Yeah, TRG has really started to lose me. I'm getting tired of all the Southside Steve whining and preening. It's just not funny anymore. I've actually started listening to the frikkin' Bert Show! And when that gets TOO girly or when Melissa just won't shut the hell up, I plug in the iPod. Atlanta radio is pretty pathetic.

Does anyone else besides me think there are two true oldies stations? One is the syndicated part with Scott Shannon (good). The other is Randy & Spiff, etc. (not so good). The morning and afternoon drive time shows should expand the playlist. If I hear Blood, Sweat & Tears one more time, I'm going to scream. Note to true oldies program director: Listen to Serrus/XM's fifties on five and sisties on six. Take notes. Use songs. Be creative.
