Martha Zoller, the female conservative talker, has left her long-time home at WDUN-AM to the more accessible FM dial at new talk station FM 103.7 in Gainesville.
Zoller, who can be seen each Sunday on “The Georgia Gang” (8:30 a.m. WAGA-TV) and frequently does guest appearances on Fox News and CNN (until CNN banned radio hosts a couple months back), said she moved because it was simply a better opportunity she couldn’t turn down. Naturally, she gets more cash and the clearer world of FM.
She is happy where she is although she has yet to get a gig in metro Atlanta besides a weekly “best of” on 640/WGST-AM Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. “I’m a Gainesville gal,” she said. She has a network of 11 stations listening to part of her show, which airs from 9 to 11 a.m. on FM 103.7 starting today.
Zoller worked at WDUN for 15 years, 13-plus full time.
103.7, the new FM talk station, launched in August. Zoller will be its local host. The others on air include Neal Boortz (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Clark Howard (1 to 4 p.m.), Dr. Laura(4 to 7 p.m.) and Michael Savage (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.).
103.7 is owned by Cox Radio, which is part of Cox Enterprises, which also owns this blog.

I guess you didn’t mention Zoller got more money! Nor, 103.7 has a larger foot print.

So was the last line of ¶2 added after peter’s comment (which should be disclosed) or does peter have a reading problem?

And may I add that there is no way that 103.7 has a bigger footprint than 550’s daytime signal. Some people may prefer FM over AM but you’re not adding ears going to a class C3 FM signal.

Tom’s right. Martha just lost her audience from Duluth west to the Alabama line, and from Athens east to Greenville.

Could this be a prelude to an eventual move to WSB?

That is NOT a Gainesville station, it is owned and operated by Cox and is in no way local. They are trying run WDUN into the ground they have taken the Bulldog radio network station in G’ville from WDUN and now Zoller…

Rodney is clearly out of his bubblegum sweet spot. The link title says it all… Ummm, Rodney, WDUN IS a talk station too.

She’s moving from a line-up of Zoller-Limbaugh-Hannity-local news-Savage to Zoller-Boortz-Howard-Laura-Savage. Whoever wins, we lose.

Martha is the nicest of the talk hosts and does a fine job, particularly knows local issues. Best wishes for a strong signal on FM. WGST should have kept Tom Hughes and Randy Cook. Remember when Boortz claimed to hate WSB, before he went to work there ? Good luck, Martha !

@Nache: Zoller is still there, according to Zoller and WAGA-TV General Manager Gene McHugh. She’s “in rotation,” which means she’s not necessarily there every single week.

WDUN will survive. There are too many loyal listeners up here who love our hometown radio station for them not to survive. Sometimes a David will outlast a Goliath.

When all of the corporate owners and their accountants have finished ruining radio, it will be a good thing to have local control again. Martha Zoller and WDUN will be able to become consultants.

Can 103.7 bring back the KIMMER? Maybe he is getting bored playing golf all the time…..I miss him on the radio.

Years after getting shafted out of an FM talker in Helen GA we finally had a reason to rejoice. Notice I said HAD. Martha is why we didn’t listen to WDUN. The free thinkers in the mountains aren’t too hip on theocracies. Bring back the four hours of Boortz please. Getting rid of that god awful morning show and replacing it with the Regular Guys would be a plus to. Alas I guess I can just go back to NPR till 11.

Thank God she is gone. I could not stand that womans voice. Al Gainey is vast improvement. Now I can enjoy WDUN again.
Wow we are rid of the Bulldogs and Zoller. What a great day in Gaineville radio history.

Did she really buy that junk about being Neal Boortz’s host in waiting bit? WDUN’s all god network is a little too much now. Maybe WDUN can hook up with Glenn Beck or something. WDUN’s signal is fantastic I have pulled it in near Hilton Head SC before during the day. Talk on FM is too clear and you hear too much mouth action that gets annoying.

I’m glad Martha has left WDUN, she’s so NOT good at this. The day I heard her say she’s trying to become Nationally Syndicated I LOL in my car. Seriously. Martha constantly stumbles for the *right* & *appropriate* words, she gets just plain hateful to people who don’t agree with her ideology, and she’s clearly not educated or well spoken enough to be in this biz. IMO, AM is out of her league, so…what in the world are the FM folks thinking?? Now…I’m happily back to listening to WDUN in the a.m.’s.

Thanks goodness! Now I can put WDUN back in my morning rotation of talk shows while I am working in my truck. Martha drove me nuts talking about Martha! I thought Boortz was self-centered, but she makes hime look like a novice at promoting herself. She could not bear for someone to be interviewed very long without inserting herself or her family into the conversation. Good riddance. Al Gainey is a great guy and will do well.

I am so disapointed in 103.7 for replacing a portion of Neal Boortz with this amatuer. I have tried to give her a fair chance but I just simply find her as shrill, irritating, and annoying! And that is not my assesment of her professional ability to do the job. That would be a far worse assesment.
Sadly 103.7 has just a short time remaining before I abandon the station all together. I will just have to find another station that suits my pallate.

I like WDUN a lot,but they don’t have Mark Levin on anymore. What’s up with that!? He’s The Great One! I like Martha and Al Gainey.
