Bone Voyage - In part one of a three part cross-over, Las Vegas CSI Ray Langston comes to Miami to help Horatio (r: David Caruso) and the team with a brutal murder case with ties to Las Vegas, on CSI: MIAMI, Monday, November 9th (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network

There have been jokes for years that “CSI” would keep morphing beyond its current three incarnations. You know, “CSI: Bismark” and “CSI: Piscataway.” That hasn’t happened. Nonetheless, “CSI” has proven to be a sturdy, albeit aging, franchise for CBS.

“CSI: NY” has been retaining most of its audience after six seasons, averaging 13 to 14 million viewers. “CSI: Miami,” in its eighth season, used to be far bigger but has since seen its numbers slip to about the same level.

The original “CSI” has seen an especially steep decline since William Peterson left season. Last year, the show averaged 19 million viewers. This season? 15.5 million.

So the “CSI” brass has created the “trilogy” crossover week involving all three “CSIs.” Laurence Fishburne’s character Dr. Ray Langston travels from Vegas to Miami to work with Horatio Crane (David Caruso) on “CSI: Miami” Monday. Langston then goes to “CSI: New York” Wednesday to go over the mystery withMac Taylor (Gary Sinise) before returning to Vegas on Thursday. The case involves truckers and black market organ harvesting.

Here’s a tease with Carurso and Fishburne:

The other notable event is the 43rd annual Country Music Awards. Thanks partly to Taylor Swift, country music has had an especially solid year, with higher ratings for country awards shows earlier this year and strong radio ratings for Kicks 101.5 and 94.9/The Bull locally. Plus, it’s great to see hard-working Georgians like the Zac Brown Band have a real impact on the Nashville scene.

Country singer Jake Owen does some advance reporting, including a talk with  Lady Antebellum.

OK, i missed Saturday’s debut of Wanda Sykes’ show on FOX. I’ll be looking forward to DWTS – Mya is by far my favorite. On ’survivor’, i am really starting to like scheming russell more and more. he was ready to orchestrate one of his castmates out the door (so to speak) b4 bad luck happened and she won immunity. and i always like the CMAs. country rocks these days!

Rodney,

Re Thursday night- Do you dislike “Fringe” and “The Mentalist” You never mention them. There are a lot of viewers that don’t like medical soap operas and absolutely despise fashion TV.

Thursday’s big show is “30 Rock.” Will they mention Princeton for the third week in a row?

Why no mention of Two Guys Garage on Speed Channel? Two Guys Garage stars Atlanta’s own Bryan Fuller of Fuller Hot Rods, and features Atlanta’s Sam Memmolo, host of the nationally syndicated Sam’s Garage radio program and the local Sam’s Garage show on WGKA/920.

Yeah that to Bob… Fringe and the Mentalist are some of the best shows on these days–defining best as “fun,” which is what many of us want from our TV shows.

Rodney, while Taylor is very popular with the young crowd, there are many country music fans who are simply tired of hearing about her or hearing one of her songs every few minutes on the radio. I mean look at the top songs over the last several months and you will see that Taylor barely hits the top 5 on the local country stations. You’ve been reporting those lists for a while (and I have been noticing that trend).

Country Music is enjoying a renaissance of some sorts and this can be traced to the abundance of new acts who are catching the eyes of music lovers. The Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, etc….and the years they are having are the real reason for country’s great year. Taylor, Carrie, Kenny, Keith, Brad, and of course King George are keeping their audiences intact, but the growth has to be attributed to the younger and up in coming stars.

I’ve been enjoying the Season 2 of Merlin on each Saturday night. This last Wichhunter episode was very good. I’ve liked this season better than the 1st one so far. I wonder if they are eventually going to allow Merlin to show his powers to Arthur.

Looking forward to Donny going into the semi-finals and Aaron leaving Dancing with the Stars. Donny is the Best!!!!. I also senjoy CSI- Miami intersting to see how this new three show concept works. And finally can’t wait for Keith Urban to perform and win on the CMA’s. I also enjoy Smallville so it should be a good week of t.v. for me.

Rodney…Why do you rarely give props to cable shows(other than Bravo)??? They have the best TV shows. FX/Tues: Sons of Anarchy FX/Wed: Nip Tuck FX/Thurs: Always Sunny, The League. Watch something other than Network TV and Bravo. Have you even watched The League yet? If I got paid to watch TV and write about it…I would TIVO it all!

a$$play: Yes. I did watch “The League.” It was okay, no great shakes to me. Ratings did go up quite a bit week two so buzz is there. I do like Nip/Tuck though it’s really running its course. Never got into Sons of Anarchy but yes, that show has gained a lot of momentum and I noted recently in a ratings blog that the show beat Jay Leno 18-49 one week. Always Sunny? Not my thing at all.

Right on… Appreciate the response. I just see you give love to all the network American Idol stuff when all the best is on Cable. Tune into Breaking Bad. It is coming up soon. Great show.

CSI Miami’s main character is “Horatio Caine”, not “Crane”. Thus the traditionally shortened version would be “Hory Caine” and a play on words suitable for gator-land is born.

What about Sons of Anarchy?

Sons Of Anarchy is lame. It’s too cheesy and not very raw. Wait for HBO’s version coming out soon about the Hells Angels. It will grab you in the boo boo.
