WGCL-TV airing pre-empted CBS shows from Monday night

csi miami

The Atlanta Falcons/New Orleans Saints game simulcast last night on both ESPN and the CBS affiliate WGCL-TV. The combined ratings were 24.4, or nearly a quarter of all the TVs in metro Atlanta. That would equate to about one million local viewers, a very impressive figure. (In New Orleans, the ratings were in the 68 range, a draw-dropping number.)

Fans of the normal CBS lineup on Monday nights were left out in the cold.

Instead, CBS is running last night’s “CSI: Miami” as I write this (at 5 p.m.) and the two-hour stretch of comedies will air at 2 p.m. Sunday November 8. (”How I Met Your Mother” at 2, “Accidentally on Purpose” at 2:30, “Two and a Half Men” at 3 and “The Big Bang Theory” at 3:30)

These were all first-run episodes so if you have the shows set on properly your DVR, they will show up.

Network affiliates should be made to show what their network is showing at ALL times. They should not be allowed to deviate for ANY reason other than an area emergency.

Our local ABC affiliate here in Atlanta has taken off good shows many times also, to show crap like a Georgia Aquarium special or Maonica Kaufman. They show that garbage and they put the good shows on at 2:00 in the morning.

But, what do you expect, this is Atlanta! I wouldn’t be shocked if they started taking more shows off to replace them with quality television about thug rappers living in Atlanta. Or, maybe we could have a show featuring our wonderful leaders here in Atlanta, like Sonny Purdue. The good ol’ boy can talk about how he “prayed for rain” during our media created, non-existent drought last year. What an a$$hole.

Pete…..How about reading a book instead of watching TV.

I think you touched a nerve, Rodney!

Thankfully, my DVR is at home to save those shows for me!

This is why Atlanta is one of the worst television markets in the country. Besides overly censoring programs, they also constantly cut into them with their own news tickers. Prolonged self-promoting weather reports. The political races last night were absurd. They milk it every chance they get. It’s like they can’t wait to get something they can cut off the HD picture and fill up half the screen with their garbage. If you’ve ever lived anywhere else you’ll realize what a joke it is here and how the nightly news broadcasts are put together like a local high school video project.

uhh, geez pete. sorry someone’s praying has you so upset. not that that has anything to do with the subject matter at hand, i disagree that network affiliates should be forced to show any of the sewage that flows from hollywood, but that’s my opinion. i like the way the local station can broadcast an ESPN game for us Falcons fans without cable. plus, no one watches any of their favorite shows live on TV anyway – that’s what HULU and network websites are for.

Well that may be true for poor folk like you atlBOY. Some of us though prefer watching our 65 inch plasma tv’s. Maybe instead you should get your lame news from network websites and let the big boys use their TV’s for entertainment.
