NBC will do to the Weather Channel what it's done to the rest of their prime time lineup-flush it down the toilet. Seeing more of Al Roker is enough reason not to watch!

I agree with Deke & Paula. NBC is driving TWC into the ground with this infotainment kick they're on. They've forgotten their main function of reporting and forecasting the weather. I just want to be able to tune in any time and get local weather information. I don't even want the traffic report. I'll get that on the local TV & radio. I like the quick & dirty weather every 10 minutes and the crawl at the bottom (w/o the traffic). i didn't even mind the "storm stories" or some of the storm chasing because they still kept the crawl going and showed the radar in the corner. This movie stuff and the integration of the sports updates and the regular non-weather news stories just frustrates me. Just give me the weather. Thank you very much. Oh and send Al Roker back to the Today show or something.

The viewing audience has changed. Due to the web, mobile and other means for receiving weather related information, The Weather Channel must change just like Headline News, MTV and even TLC. The Weather Channel is probably becoming a two dimension network. Heavy weather in the mornings and afternoons, series and movies in the evenings. Ratings is the driver. People tune in for very little periods of time to see their forecast and then move on. Even FoxNews and MSNBC changed the news arena, hence the reason CNN is in last place now among cable news audiences. They haven't kept up with what people want. As far as AccuWeather, they have been around longer than The Weather Channel and would NEVER pose a threat to them, and The Weather Channel knows it. I have read that before long you will be able to receive your local forecast any time you like on The Weather Channel through multiple agreements they have with cable operators and satellite companies. I can do that now with pushing the menu button on my Directv remote. BTW, I will watch The Perfect Storm, great movie.

We are getting more and more frustrated at not being able to tune in to the Weather Channel, even in primetime, and just get the forecast and weather overview (especially for the week) from a real person. The occasional weather history show or drama (NOT stormchasing adolescents) is OK, but keep them much fewer and much shorter, and run them in the off hours so people can TIVO them if they really want them. And don't waste time talking about football games; that's what sports channels are for. When we've stayed in hotels we've seen a local weather channel that was just weather; why can't we have something more like that? And please, don't take up even more precious time running MOVIES!

Ever since Dave Schwartz and Kristina and Sharon were let go, you could see how the NBC Bean Counters figured the basic bottom line. TWC was toooo serious about the weather therefore we have to bring in Al Roker and Co. to really dumb it down. Were paying him already. BTW, as to Global Warming, look at the preponderance of the meteorological evidence, not Gore. Only time will tell folks.

Great idea actually, since it only takes 10 seconds to get the forecast. Nothing wrong with having another channel showing something other than "reality" show garbage.

Crazy idea. I don't want to tune into the Weather Channel to watch George Clooney or some penguins. I tune in to check on the forecast at 7:30pm or 10:30 am when no other news show is on and can give me an instant update or full forecast. Thank God for the AccuWeather updates I get on my Iphone.

The Weather Channel quit being respectable long ago when Dr. Heidi Cullen (sp?) came on board and started lambasting any respectable meteorologist who disagreed with her global warming hysteria. She even came out an said that anyone who disagrees with global warming should not be considered for AMS certification. The NBC bought them.

AccuWeather......hurry up and start your own Weather Channel.
