Atlanta resident Kenny Rogers guesting on ‘How I Met Your Mother’

IGN.com reports that Atlanta resident Kenny Rogers will play a character (possibly himself?) on an October 19 episode of CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother,” which also stars former Atlantan Alyson Hannigan.

Here’s a bit from the IGN story:

Rogers will play a part on the October 19th episode of HIMYM. That episode, titled “Dual Citizenship”, finds Ted (Josh Radnor) and Marshall (Jason Segel) taking a road trip to Chicago, in the hopes of reliving a cherished college memory. However, their plan hits a big obstacle when Lily (Alyson Hannigan) decides to tag along too. This “kind of harshes their mellow” I’m told, but it does lead to Mr. Rogers’ guest performance.

Details are a bit sketchy about what he will do but given the show’s penchant for good writing, it should be funny. Based on imdb.com, he hasn’t done that many cameo TV appearances on scripted shows. The last ones noted in imdb.com: “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Touched By an Angel” in 2000.

Rogers, 71, had put his $7.95 million, 9,000-square-foot Buckhead home for sale last year, but it sat without a viable offer for six months so the country star decided to pull it back. He also has a 150-acre estate near Athens. He and his family split time between the two residences. “Fortunately, he doesn’t need to sell,” said real estate agent Heather Steiner today. “They’re staying the course for now.”
