‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recap, episode 10, 10/1/09: Kim gets a ring!
For you NeNe Leakes fans, this was a virtually NeNe-free episode. Sorry.
The spotlight was instead on Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss.
Kandi finished Kim’s new single “Tardy for the Party.” We hear Kim sing in the studio. And believe me, it’s not very good. But Kandi’s producers manage to make her sound passable with Mr. AutoTune around to help.
The bigger news: Big Poppa showed up before Kim’s birthday party and gave Kim an engagement ring. The only glitch: he’s still married. But Kim happily shows off the ring to everyone in sight (including Q100’s Jeff Dauler, who gets two seconds of airtime.)
“He had time to evaluate,” Kim said. “He couldn’t live without me. Can’t blame him!” (Kim’s former publicist Jonathan Jaxson claims it’s over between the two of them again. Kim a couple nights ago wouldn’t talk about it.)
Sheree Whitfield shows up at the party and plays nicey-nice. “We’ve been trying to bury the hatchet,” Kim said. “I think she was making an effort to be friends again.” And she likes the song, which is introduced at the party.
Kandi is uber-nervous about her first singing appearance in years in Atlanta at Tongue & Groove. “Atlanta is a very critical city,” she said. “If people come out and I’ma hot mess, oh, lord, it’s not going to be good.”
But in the end, she’s fine. She sounds great. The only glitch: Kim’s mysterious disappearance. (I’m going to call her later and see what the deal was there because the show keeps everyone in the dark on her absence.) Earlier in the show, Kim said, “Kandi supported me when nobody else did. You bet I’m going to support her” by showing up.
Most snide remark of the night, courtesy of Lisa Wu Hartwell, about Kim not being there: “Maybe she caught some disease.”
NeNe’s only appearance early on featured her “tripping” over the night before’s confrontation with Kandi and Kim. She continuedto try to justify her anger toward Kandi, though it was pretty flimsy rationale, something about her looking at her funny.
In other plotlines
-Lisa’s hubby Ed is trying to pitch a talk show and mock interviews Lisa.
-Sheree preps for her fashion show, getting Dwight to help out. She goes to New York and critiques her seamstress. “Uh oh,” the poor seamstress says as Sheree complains.
Choice quotes:
“She’s a lowdown monkey with a wig on. Kim is a monster.” – NeNe said early on to Lisa.
“Oooh! That’s far!” – Dwight, when he hears Sheree is holding her fashion show at the W at the Perimeter. I guess Dwight doesn’t go OTP very often, eh? That’s about three blocks OTP.

Teasers for next week: Kandi meets with record producers. NeNe holds a high heel run for her Twisted Hearts Foundation. Lisa checks to see if she’s preggers.

Yes we needed a Ne Ne break many people are getting tried of Ne Ne. She is different from the 1st episode. We like Kandi and Ne Ne really don’t want to get into it with Kandi. You can remove Ne Ne from the show now.

Nice reprieve last night from the self proclaimed Ms. Got It Going On, NeNe. I know this is entertainment but, is she really that simple? She’s made a few dollars and dragged her family out of their alledged financial woes and suddenly, she’s the elite of Atlanta? NeNe, you still don’t have any class. Get a life coach girl. Get educated. The drama you create is so tasteless and only highlights your ignorance.

I thank God I do not have people like Lisa, Kim and Sheree anywhere near my circle of people. These are the most shallow women on the planet and I feel sorry for any of the men who get caught in their cobwebs.

NeNe is such a drama queen. She is not as nice as i thought she was. I think she is threatened by Kandi’s success and uses everything in the book to intimidate her. She thinks too much of herself, yes she is fun and all but she crosses too many boundaries with the other wives. Stand your gound Kandi girl and keep doing your thing. NeNe has been dethroned as my favorite wife. She is just as evil and manipulative as Kim.

Um… What kind of racist slur was Sasquatch throwing out calling Kim “a monkey with a wig on”.. IF Kim had said that to Sasi-Q, the NAACP and ALCU would have been all over it. NeNe needs to publicly apologize for that derogatory statement.
Kandi is totally cool. She is the only one that I could see myself being friends with. The rest of these women need to be institutionalize.

Was it just me, or did NeNe look like a giant in her backyard when she was with Lisa? I am so tired of NeNe, I was glad she didnt have much camera time last night. That is one ugly woman. Kandi has got it going on, I love her. I cant wait for her music to drop. Kim was dead wrong for not showing up to support Kandi.

Color me happy episode 10 went in a different (read that refreshing) direction. NeNe has become unbearable to watch, at this point, and we didn’t miss her antics one bit. As for Kim, where do I begin? Her disgusting hoochie antics at the party planning with the black women? Her daughters’ excitement over (still married) Big Poppa’s anticipated proposal? Or Kim’s no-show at Kandi’s promotion? Clearly, BRAVO editted to expose Kim as an opportunist and major fraud. Here’s hoping she can come up smelling like roses. Kandi is doing big things and pretty soon she will ‘RISE ABOVE’ her beloved AJ.
Lisa and Ed are such a terrific ouple. They light up the screen, speak well, look comfortable, both are very easy on the eyes too. Can I get an Amen? The Hartwell story arc is noteworthy on many levels. Poor Ed can’t understand why his wife hasn’t conceived again? They want a little girl. Awwwww. If you follow the show; Lisa and Ed married approx. 1 month after meeting. They had a son (her third child- that’s a story in itself) while Ed was still an active money earning NFL baller. Mr. Hartwell’s money funded Lisa’s many business ventures, which don’t appear to generate income btw. He was cut from sports and now he’s a house-husband. So here we are season 2 and Ed remains out of work. Other than the Bravo check, show me the money Ed. There will be no insemination artificial or otherwise. Lisa’s opening declaration during the RHOA’s intro plainly states, “If it doesn’t make money I don’t do it.” Well, Ed there’s your answer right there.

I love NE NE, I only watched part of the show last night, and I agree some of the things she does is alittle far fetched, but this is drama TV and viewers want the DRAMA . Without NE NE this season would pretty much suck!!!

I don’t understand all the hostility people have towards Lisa. She and Kandi are the only two on the show with legitimate jobs and financially secure. If Big Poppa croaks today, I doubt Kim and her little gold diggers are in the will. NeNe is so full of jealousy towards Kandi, it is pathetic. Sheree, I will give it to her, she is making a legitimate effort to secure a profitable clothing line. She is hands on and dead serious about it becoming successful. She seems to have a passion for it, you can’t fault her for following her dream.

The comment made by NeNe regarding Kim was not necessary it showed lack of thought, even though Kim prior talking to her girlfriend Cori had said something about NeNe hair so it’s a catch 22 I don’t think it was meant to be racial. But it was really an enjoyable show without NeNe I truly was a fan, Nene is outspoken and tells it like it is but she has truly taken this minute walk of fame to another level. I still say she needs to decorate that house if it’s truly hers and Gregs. I thought it was funny when she took Lisa in the backyard and said her and hubby were thinking of dropping a pool in the back yard. I do believe NeNe has a genuine spirit about herself but this show on Bravo has unleashed this monster of a person. In the words of Kandi “bring it down” NeNe.

Kim is my favorite on the show. She has a lifestyle that embodies what the show is about. Even though she isn’t married as I think she would need to be to be labeled a “Houswewife.” She is classy and has some $$$. The rest of them are faking it. Lisa Wu amd Sheree need to be gone next season. I don’t see how Bravo can continue to try and portray them as high society housewifes when they have no $$$ and are not living the lifestyle. They can put me on the show right about now. I have more going on than Lisa and Sheree. Watching them is PAINFUL! What ever happened to all of Lisa’s businesses? They have not really showed her wheeling and dealing and that was suppose to be her storyline. Her husband career as a football player is over so what now……. Boring!

Couldn’t hate Sheree any more than I already do. What a fraud. Those biceps and hair made her look like a drag queen in an orange dress at her party. I love how cool and collected she pretends to act. Looking back on the way she reacted/lost it to that party planner, I’d say He-by-Sheree is a complete animal.

I LOVE Kim’s townhome… saw the pics yesterday on AJC.com. Say what you want about her, but she has her own great sense of style and personality. I think she’s got a big heart that gets trampled on by the other women, so it’s no wonder she feels the need to talk behind their backs. If Big Poppa and she want a relationship, why not go for it. Big Poppa’s wife must not care or she would’ve put a stop to it long ago. Their marriage expired long ago.

I have to give it to NeNe, she did say that Kim was only using Kandi to get what she wanted and now I can see it. After Kim professes to be so happy to have a new friend, she doensn’t show up to support Kandi when clearly Kandi needed to see familiar and friendly faces.
I still like NeNe as she’s only what she’s always been, nothing more, nothing less. While I was starting to like Kim a bit more, she’s taken dumb to a totally new level.
Sheree still looks like a man and is my least favorite. Kandi has the most beautiful smile and I love her new music.

In Season One, I liked NeNe the best. Now I really have seen her claws come out and I don’t care for her as much. She appears to be EXTREMELY jealous of Kandi’s talent and youth, and she looks for little things to explode over just to make a scene. As for her comment that she is a size 10, after seeing her walking around her backyard she appears to be a 10 plus 6 or 8! Kandi needs to drop AJ and get with someone on her level–7 kids??!! Sheree needs to give up on the clothing line because she has no knowledge of sewing–she thinks you can draw a picture and it magically will fit the model as you like without considering the flow of the fabric. Lisa at least keeps it real and admits Ed is not working (unlike NeNe) and Kim is a straight dingbat! I wonder is Big Poppa’s wife watches the show? If she were thinking of filing for divorce based on infidelity, she has all the proof she needs to take him to the BANK! Will Kim still want him after he’s broke??

I have to admit Kandi is a great producer but she’s an AWEFUL performer. Honey just stick to producing good music and get paid and give up being a performer. Kandi does NOT have what it takes to sell cd’s as a performer besides that wannabe husband AJ needs more of her attention. Just keep geting your cheese from that dreadful and phony Kim. She will never support you by being there for you but will always claim to be your friend as long as you keep making her a one hit wonder.

Thank you, THANK YOU for a show without Ne Ne, I could finally watch and enjoy it a little bit without cringing.
I think Lisa and Ed look like a great couple when the two of them go out. Sure Lisa tries to play it up a little for the cameras, but I think she is a good person.
Kandi, you are so talented and a smart woman, do your thing.
Now truly, I wish I was in NY when Sheree’s friend was there. I would definitely get at her, honey is BAD .. Let’s add her to the show for Season 3..

I really dont understand why any of these Chics other than Khandi needs a publicist. Khandi is the only star. Ne Ne really needs to bring it down a few notches, She really knows how to show her “a double snakes” in public. Bravo really needs to put a leash on Ne Ne she is like a mad dog. Just crazy! Exactly what nursing school did Kim graduate from? She is scary dumb, I cannot believe that she even finished high school! I love when she says she’s a single mom supporting herself. And then in the next breath drops over 3 grand on duds for the little one (ps, fabulous is NJ) Then claims that she lives within her means. I also love how she says she’s a strict mom, then pulls out a pack of cigs and blows smoke in her baby’s faces! And drinks like worn out whor–. Then goes out with her ta ta’s hanging out. What kind of good mom are you Kim? Cupcakes at midnight, weeks of fast food, oh that’s right, you now have a chef, in addition to your assistant and your nanny, yet you don’t work? How exactly does that budget pan out? HOw much does Bravo pay you? In addition to you working on your back? Love all of the drinking and driving scenes! Your parents must be extremely proud of you…….

Hey guys Kandi does the show for publicity. Get it. She crawled under rock back in the late 90’s with the group Xscape. Kandi tried releasing a cd a couple of years ago and could not sell a 100 units. So please go out and buy her cd when it drops in November to make her relevant again.
