I did not like Vern’s show, he was so sappy and insincere acting. Cancel Genevieve and Candace also, they made the WRONG decision and I change the channel whenever their shows are on. I will only watch DS season 5 if they give the power back to the people and new judges would be greatly appreciated. The best 3 for judging would be Lisa Laporta, Scott McGilvray, and David Bromstad. All 3 do a lot with a budget within time constraints…

Enter your comments hereVern is my favorite designer n television. I don’t know what they were thinking in cancelling his show. As for Antonio HE WAS THE BEST DESIGNER !!!. He was fresh and had a style that was functional and fresh. Dan represented the standard cookie-cutter style that we’ve seen before. And that $5000 mistake should have had him off the show the week before. From the ducks on the wall, the military family’s home, the young boy’s room and doing something about the bathroom in the final challenge, he has shown he can think outside the box. Let’s hope the Antonio Project has a long run.

Dan got ripped off! I think most people watch decorating shows to learn new tips and ideas they can incorporate into their own homes, not to be entertained. In fact, the “entertainment” part often seems forced, as if the designers are also trying to prove they’re fun people, too. After a while, that wears on people’s nerves. The majority of viewers would not be able to nor want to emulate many design ideas from Antonio’s approach. After the novelty of his tattoos and bad boy image wears off, I predict viewership will wane. Dan is a wonderful designer and he should have been selected.

Antonio was indeed the best…the judges hit it perfectly. His show will absolutely be a hit. There is not another designer that has his talent. Is he different…you bet…and that’s what makes him the PERFECT CHOICE.

Enter your comments here I too, think the judges got it wrong this time. This show is about finding the best designer, because, I and I believe others, watch a show to see great design, not some “it” factor. If that were the case I probably wouldn’t watch you, Vern or Candice. Divine design is one of my favorite shows because of Candices’ talent, not her personality. Dans’ designs were far superior to Antonios’ and his white room design showed awesome talent. He also seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
I for one will not be watching Antonios shows. I found him rude, crude,and arrogant. He took over in the backyard challenge and you all criticized it as having no cohesive design. In the final challenge I found his color choices hideous, especially in the living room. Kathy Griffins’ room also lacked good design with those tacky little rugs and two chairs by the fireplace.
Just because somebody is loud and different doesn’t make them a great designer.
In my opinion, you should have let the fans choose the winner. Dan would have gotten my vote hands down. He deserved to win.

I do not feel that Antonio showed the use of color, balance, pattern or scale on any of the projects he worked on except maybe the first little boys room. He doesn’t seem to be able to get along with his teammates and can’t be trusted to carry out the teams wishes (tan paint). Tan paint that he would never use but did in the Star home. He is rude, crude, and uncooth. He doesn’t even seem to keep up his own personal hygiene. Have you seen his show? Wow what a mess, he did not complete one room with accessories and such. I think you got bamboozled Vern. I am so disappointed with HGTV, and feel I was lied to. It was to be a Design contest and I don’t think Antonio deserved it. And the “it” he is supposed to have, is that the naked girl and how busy he will be in his bed? I am so disappointed.

I wish others would be as open minded as you Vern. The right person was picked and the majority of the views just don’t get it. Sorry to see your show go..it is great. All the best on new endevors.

I had not heard that Deserving Design was cancelled – I thought new episodes were on hold due to Design Star. I’m so disappointed – that is one of the most endearing shows on the network. I’m glad Vern will be doing other shows on HGTV.
