Oprah Winfrey has been on air more than 20 years and has interviewed thousands of people. So she is either in hyperbolic hype mode to boost ratings or she honestly feels her pre-taped interview with former Atlantan Whitney Houston is “the best interview I’ve ever done.” She supplied this line to Access Hollywood.
“I can’t think of a moment, ever, when I had a stronger connection to the person I was interviewing,” Oprah said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “My approach to this interview was to not be judgmental in any way, and not to go in trying to get her to say things to make a ‘moment.’ I just wanted to be able to have an honest conversation with her. One woman to another woman. And the day of the interview I literally prayed about that all day long. I just wanted a connection between the two of us. And that is what happened.”
Oprah, whose ratings have slipped the past year, is clearly hoping for big big numbers Sept. 14 when part one of the two-part Houston interview airs. (Locally, it’s on WSB-TV at 4 p.m.) Houston will discuss her marriage with Bobby Brown, her drug use, her rehab and how her family saved her.
She had a public taping/concert Tuesday with the Black Eyed Peas, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Hudson, James Taylor and Criss Angel, according to AP:
The special outdoor event will take place on a three-block stretch of Michigan Avenue near the Chicago River and have two blocks of audience members. It will shut down the famous downtown street — known as the Magnificent Mile for its upscale shopping — to traffic from early Monday through Wednesday morning.
She also has an interview with Atlantan Erin Andrews, the ESPN sports reporter who was videotaped without her knowledge through a peep hole in her hotel room. That interview airs Sept. 11 as a preview to the official season launch Monday.

How could Oprah, who has interviewed some of the most influential, respected and powerful people in the world… say that Whiteney Houston was the best interview she has ever done? Are ratings low? Did she need to “tease” her show to get people to watch? Whitney was a talented performer but come on Oprah, have you lost your mind?

Hmmmm, sounds like kids to me. Must be something to be so perfect that you can judge so harshly. I for one, love Oprah and have spent 20 years learning so much from her and her guests. Classy Lady.

I absolutely LOVE Oprah, she is such an inspiration and is sooo generous. Her caring personality shines so bright. As far as the Whitney interview, my perception of her saying that this was one of her best interviews…I take it as her saying it was her best because of the connection not as in what was actually said during the interview. Even if her ratings are down, so what!!! If they cancel her show (which I seriously don’t think so), that will giver her more time to pursue other projects that I know she has planned on. She is a brilliant person that will always rise above.

Please watch your comments because the good book says,”you will be tried and judged according to the words in your mouth”. Remember, if you can’t say nothing positive don’t say anything at all.
Welcome back Whitney, I love you and I will support you!!!!!

Oprah ask all the questions and gives all the answere’s as Whit goes yea yea then adds a whole sentence maybe. Whitney is a liar and denial of her drug use and that is dangerous for her well being. Everything is Bobby Browns fault she did everything for Bobby like she is the sweet innocent little helpless person. Bull this is a “whip” who did what she wanted and when she wanted. She is not, I repeat NOT a classic example of the “abused women” Most abused women are trapped with no where to go–she had all the money to go where she wanted and was not trapped. Then she says oh I wanted to be a mother and with my child that is why I quit singing and making movies–You quit singing cause you couldn’t sing –you were so drugged up you didn’t know or care where you were or what you were. You were the fool chasing Bobby and throwing money around and chasing after him where ever he went. That reality show was a disgusting display of human behavior at its worse on drugs and then we get this embodiment of innocence. Oh pleasssseeeee!
