TV best bets with ‘Melrose Place’ redux, a gleeful ‘Glee’ and last bites of ‘True Blood,’ ‘Design Star’

No, it’s not 1994 all over again. It just feels that way, thanks to the start of the traditional TV broadcast season with the CW’s “90210″ (season two of the 2.0 take) and a revamped version of “Melrose Place.” (left)

The CW is also throwing out the red carpet for “America’s Next Top Model” Wednesday and the one-two punch of the new “Vampire Diaries” (now shooting locally) and veteran “Supernatural” Thursday.

Which upcoming new or returning series are you looking forward to seeing most this week?

Fox is the other network with a high-stakes series on the line. On Wednesday, it brings back “Glee,” which the network smartly launched in the spring after “American Idol.” The public liked the sample episode as the cast’s take on “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” rose to No. 1 on iTunes. I’ve seen a couple more episodes and the show lives up to its delightful pilot, riding strongly on charm, fun glee club performances and Jane Lynch’s hilariously droll cheerleading coach.

Otherwise, there are plenty of season finales from cable land.

First, say farewell to “Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC Family for the year. On Wednesday, TNT’s “Leverage” finishes its last con job this summer, along with one more trick up Criss Angel’s sleeve on A&E. On Sunday, HBO sucks one more ounce of blood from buzz-worthy “True Blood,” followed by the closing of season one of “Hung.” And HGTV crowns its fourth “Design Star” that night, too.

Melrose Place? Kids out there if you have an original idea for a show you might be able to sell it to Hollywood as it seems they are running out of ideas. 18 kids and counting? Why do people watch this? It is not a show and with so many channels how do people watch the Duggars do everyday things that are not that interesting. Real Housewives of ATL? Sheree thinks Lisa is stealing her ideas for a fashion line? Well Sheree should know all about stealing as she has two thefts on her criminal record.
