“Real Housewives” recedes a bit in ratings, Taylor Swift, Pink are hot on Atlanta radio

Last week really proved that it’s August when a meaningless pre-season football game was the most viewed program of the week in Atlanta.

The Falcons beating the Rams drew 265,000 viewers this past Friday night. That was 14,000 more than the No. 2 program, TNT’s “The Closer.” (left)

Third? A repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on WSB-TV. Hard to interpret that one except to say there’s a reason that show’s been on for two decades.

In the meantime, Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” dropped from 6 to 20 and lost nearly a quarter of its Atlanta audience from the previous week, drawing 157,000 viewers locally. There was no catfighting this particular hour and the show competed for the first time against Lifetime’s “Project Runway” (which opened a very strong 4.2 million overall.) Nationally, “Housewives” dropped off less, to 2.8 million from a peak of 3.3 million.

BET’s Atlanta-based “Tiny & Toya” last week hit its season low with 1.46 million viewers. That’s not a good sign if the pair want a renewal.

Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva,” which just wrapped season one in Peachtree City and got the green light for a second season, continued to pull in consistent ratings. This past Sunday, it drew 2.9 million and is averaging 2.73 million after six episodes.

HGTV’s “Design Star,” which features Atlantan Vern Yip as a judge, hit a season high of 3.1 million viewers. The show is doing better than it did last season, when the comparable sixth episode drew 2.8 million.

And folks are apparently tiring quickly of “Jon & Kate.” The show hit a season low of 3 million viewers August 17. But there’s an intriguing new show about obsessive hoarders on A&E called “Hoarders,” which opened at a promising 2.5 million that night.

TNT has renewed “Hawthorne,” which closed out its season with 3.5 million viewers. The show averaged 3.4 million over 10 weeks.

I enjoy the “Wives”. It’s not often that you get such foul mouthed, low rent, shameful, deplorable behavior from two legged hyenas. Except at Sam’s club, or in Atlanta traffic, or on the street.Maybe they are a true reflection of society. Oh wait, Never mind.

Thank you, Bill! If you have class, there is no need to boast about it; it shows. Those women are an embarrassment to all women in Atlanta. They are disgusting: the drama, boistrousness and lack of loyalty. I have no idea why Kim would want to be their friend. Lisa, NeNe and Sheree are liars. You can always tell when a person is lying; they are the first to get mad and want to fight. Sheree: What success? She has fake hair, her face is always shinning and has the audacity to try and pull at Kim’s hair–THAT WAS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY AND DISRESPECTFUL. I, personally being a woman, do not like women and they are a prime example of why. I have no female friends; only associates. I do not know when I have seen so many jealous-hearted women in one group together. GIVE ME A BREAK ALREADY!

Whatever I see you think Kim should be exempt from all of this, when she flaunts herself in front of the camera in the company of other men, not to mention she has young girls at home. Oh did I mention her mouth could be washed out as well. Why she wants to be thier friend because she is getting paid like the rest of the them. Now with that being said I know the show doesn’t display the best that Atlanta has anyone with common sense knows that and it shouldn’t bother you if you know you are better than that. Bickery and fighting is staged we should all know that, these woman don’t really act like that. If they had real woman of Atlanta whether married or not no one would watch it would be boring and guess what we would still have something to say. If you don’t like the show don’t watch it for all of you who have something negative to say. I personally like NeNe I have always stated that fact but I know she has some issues I think she starts it and steps out and the other woman are too stupid to realize it. I have no likes for Sheree or Kim, I think Lisa is a opportunist and Kandi should get out it’s not worth it, she should stay in the direction of her music and leave the reality show out of it. “Smooches”

I watched one show once and that was enough. A bunch of foul mouthed trash yelling at each other. Fake everything… boring!

CWILLI–Who are you to tell anyone what to watch? I watch anything I choose and comment if I desire. IT IS ALL EMBARRASSING! They all have nasty mouths, but WOULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be friends nor associates with women like that. I have no feelings towards them, i.e., like or dislike, but there is no script; therefore, this all comes from inside and demonstrates who they are.

Its good to see Justin Moore, Jason Aldean, Randy Houser, and even Billy Currington getting some love from Country Radio. Though I am sick of the whole Taylor Swift thing and her overexposure. Seems like every 15-20 minutes on some country station one of her songs are being played. And the sad thing is she is a one topic singer which makes it even worse. I liked Taylor in the beginning, but now she is getting as overexposed as Miley Cyrus and that train has already left the building.

I agree Zone Fan….I am also sick of Taylor Swift. She was manufactured to make the record company money. Her voice is sad compared to other real talent out there. It just goes to show you how marketing can make someone a star no matter how talented you are….another example of that is the Jonas Brothers….what a joke!!! The record executives need to learn from Wall Street….greed will eventually catch up with you.

Why does Kim always wear a wig? It is so noticeable on TV. You see the darkness at her roots at the beginning of her part…and then the wig part is pink. Does she not have any hair?
