Keyshia Cole is gone. But her sister Neffe and mom Frankie live on in reality land.
The pair held a party at Uptown Lounge & Restaurant in downtown Atlanta last night to celebrate the launch of their spinoff show “Frankie & Neffe,” which debuted on BET at 10:30 p.m.
Frankie is an indelible reality star.
At age 49, she has now been off drugs for a couple of years but remains a whirling dervish of energy. Both on the show and in person, she utters “Holla” with as much frequency as Flavor Flav yelps “Yeah booooy!”
She also acts like she’s 19 years old while poor Neffe, her daughter, rolls her eyes and sighs – a lot. She is a hyperactive jitterbug at the club, hugging people, posing for pictures, dancing, never stopping.
Check the pair out outside the club before the party started:
The first episode features Neffe and Frankie adjusting to life outside the Keyshia Cole womb. (Keyshia had brought both to Atlanta from Oakland to help stabilize their chaotic lives.). Like most of these reality stars, they don’t have actual 9 to 5 jobs. Rather, their lives revolve around banking off the fame from the reality show itself. Very meta, eh?
They have a manager Manny who helped Neffe get a book deal. (The book comes out next month). Frankie is talking about a clothing line. Both make appearances for cash. Neffe is struggling to get a divorce while doting on her current fiance. Frankie struggles to stay clean and living responsibly on her own.
The pair meet a “life coach” and quickly get into a tear fest as Neffe discusses how she doesn’t like to bring her kids over to Frankie’s pad because of the bad people Frankie hangs out with. Frankie simply wants forgiveness for being an absentee mom and wants to move forward. It’s a nice set up for the rest of the series, which will certainly guarantee more fights and loud arguments.
