Lifetime’s borderline manic campaigning to ensure Bravo fans knew to go to their network for “Project Runway” worked: the Emmy-nominated reality show had its highest debut ever Thursday night with 4.2 million viewers.
That compares to 2.9 million for season five’s debut on Bravo in 2007.
It’s not the biggest actual ratings show for the show, which has hit 5 million for a finale.
The 8 p.m. “All Star Challenge” sewed up 2.9 million viewers and the “Models on the Runway” at 11 p.m. sashayed home with 1.9 million viewers.
I haven’t heard what Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” ratings were last night at the same time, but I anticipate the show took a hit.

Rodney,
Just as American Idol has its own blog, would it be possible to setup a separate blog for all the girl trash TV shows (Project Runway, Top model, Real Housewives….) so they would NOT appear in the main Radio/TV Talk blog? Just a suggestion. Wish? Desire? BEGGING!!!

Bob, (I can’t believe I’m writing this) I think you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Project Runway as a “girl trash TV show.” The show is a “competition” based show where talent (for the most part) determines how well a person does on the show. There is a little bit of drama, but by far, the largest component of the show is about giving a behind the scenes view of the process of designing and creating a genuine product. People (not just the winner) get JOBS based on their performance/work on this show. I understand that it may have a feminine slant since it is about the fashion industry, but it is not trash.
