Words from ousted Dave FM host Tim Orff, update on Holly Firfer

I

got a Facebook message today from Tim Orff, who was let go yesterday from Dave FM, replaced by Jimmy Baron. He was a loyal jock there, ably filling in wherever they needed him, be it mornings or late nights or whenever.

I’m doing pretty good under the circumstances. No idea what I’m going to do next, I just want to get back out there and get on the air. I love my hometown, so being on in Atlanta is a dream for me. Who knows what the future holds. Hope you are doing well.

And I heard that next week, former Dave FM jock and “Atlanta & Company” host Holly Firfer will be filling in as “sports babe” on 790/The Zone’s Mayhem in the AM. Cayci Johnson left a couple weeks ago for a new, better-paying job.

DAVE FM = rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic.

DAVE FM = Monkeys humping footballs.

Good Luck, Orff
We need you back on the radio soon.

Mara Davis is the only thing at Dave worth anything. She now will not play my lunch time requests or plug my business. I stopped listening.

Orff was one of the most decent jocks on the air in Atlanta right now. Well, back to my iPod in the mornings since I sure as hell won’t listen to Jimmy Baron. CBS Radio gets it wrong again…

Good luck, Orff. I enjoyed listening to you.

And Firfer does not need to be allowed anywhere near a live mike. She couldn’t read a sentence of copy without blowing it, and she has how many years in the business?

Holly Firfer needs to be sent to my house, scantily wrapped in a high-cut bikini.

Good for Firfer. I loved her on Dave and I love that she can do anything- even going into the world of sports. Good luck to you Holly, you will be great and kudos for making smart woman proud!

Orff was a bright spot during the morning drive. Too bad Dave FM did not give him the chance to really show his talents. I will truly miss his cheery attitude and good humor. Once again, Dave threw away the baby with the bath water.

Dave FM doesn’t recognize great talent! Orff, I hope you find a great job where you are truly appreciated. I will miss hearing you on the radio.

Are you kidding! Holly is a hack. Exactly what does she know about sports? About as much as she knew about TV.

Too bad Dave doesn’t can Mara Davis. What an arrogant self absorbed celebrity chasing navel gazer.

Yeah, a hack. I’m sure that’s why she was at CNN for 15 years. I guess she could always get into anonymously bashing people on the internet. It appears that there no minimum requirements for that.

Again, Dave FM screws up. The only reason I listen to Dave in the mornings is because of Orff. Honestly, I think Orff deserves better because he’d been that station’s whipping boy for a while, and is far too good of a jock to be pushed around. Orff will be missed, and now I will go back to listening to my iPod. If you read these, Orff, keep the faith, and I’m sure a more credible station will pick you up VERY soon, regardless the band.

Margot and Sully are great DJ’s but Tim Orff was the heart of DaveFM… really bad decision to cut the guy loose. Shoot, the guy goes from mornings to the graveyard shift without whining about it, couldn’t they keep this guy around somewhere? He’s been THE only compelling thing on 92.9 mornings since Mara Davis and Dunham got cut. Hope he gets a gig on Atlanta radio soon.

Orff was perfect in the mornings. Just the right amount of talking without turning into the typical idiotic morning shows all the other stations have. I hope he bounces back and finds a better gig where people will actually appreciate him!

I am amazed that Dave FM is still on the air after all of the horrible business decisions made by management and letting Orff go was one of the biggest. Orff was the one bright spot in the Dave FM line-up and now they are back to nothing. I rarely heard the station, if at all, promote Orff and send him out on quality remotes or give him a chance to do interviews or take calls. Dave FM has once again really done a good job of screwing itself up. Best of luck Orff, I’m sure you’ll be back on the air soon.

I was appalled this morning when I woke up to the voice of Jimmy Barron on Dave FM! Guess I will tune out Dave FM in the mornings again. I miss Orff already!

I love Orff!! He has just the right mix of talk and music (light on talk, heavy on music). He was the best DJ Dave FM had. When I heard Jimmy Baron’s irritating voice on the radio this morning, I got up and changed stations. Dave FM makes the WORST on air personalities decisions of any radio station in ATL. Baron couldn’t hold down a job anywhere else…..get a clue Dave FM, he’s worthless. BRING BACK ORFF!! Good luck Orff! I hope to hear your voice again soon!!

Orff was (correction.. IS) brilliant. Dave FM execs need to jump in a lake. I’ve already switched to (gasp) Q100. Jimmy Baron makes me squirm.

I’ll miss listening to you Orff, you were the only good thing Dave ever did in the morning. I guess some people just love to shoot themselves in the foot. I just with they would try the temple and put themselves out of misery. Well now that I think about it, that must be the plan.

Orff was very good. Liked that he didn’t ramble on. Some of us just want to here music in the morning. I will say Mara is cool, Her lunch time bit is always a creative mix of music.

Jimmy Baron???? uh might as well listen to 97X at 99.7 no wait that’s Q99 at 100.1, no wait that’s 99x at 99.7 …. oh screw it.

Seriously though Jimmy Baron? I hated it when he would talk politics think he was raised a Dem. but he bashes the heck out of Dem positions when he talks because he doesn’t really understand what he’s saying plus his wife makes a living doing PR for wack job right wing senators from GA

Add me to the list of non-listeners. Orff just came across as a nice, silly guy who loved his job and connected with his listeners. Totally absent was any sense of the big egos that pervade the airwaves. I once wrote him an email saying how much I enjoyed him, when he was on in the mornings with Holly, and said I liked his nerdy sense of humor. He wrote me back and agreed that he was a nerd, just a nice dude. All the best for the future…

When Orff and Denzil first took over the morning show it was great. Somewhere along the way the “Powers that Be” silenced Denzil. Orff and Denzil were developing a great rapport the resonated with the audience. This was a terrible decision, so far I have only listened to Jimmy Barron once and he sounds a lot like Zakk Tyler….yuk!!

Folks, this is syndicated radio at it’s best! Of course they get rid of the likeable, amiable character and go back to the stale morning show tripe. Did you really expect more than that? Orff, I miss you already, nice guys deserve better but I suppose that’s the way of the world. See you DaveFM- and to Jimmy Baron’s prior comment- you’re back, and I’m outa here. Deal with that.

I agree, first they can Mara Davis and Dunham in the mornings and now Orff…its not the old Z93 anymore nor what was a hopeful DAVEFM….management has not made good decisions with their morning program for many years now. Canning Orff was a big mistake, After Holly Firfer left, they toss Orff to the late night and then back to am…he was one of the brighter spots in Atlanta radio DJ mayhem

Listening to Jimmy Baron is like listening to Sully, painful. I think if I had to listen to either of them for any amount of time I would need someone to wake me from my boredom coma. As for Mara, if it weren’t for the request hour she would be completely useless.

I am very dissapointed that my favorite DJ for Dave was let go. I’ve always enjoyed listening to crazy Orff, even when he and Holly did the morning show . I was very dissapointed when he was moved to the late night slot when Zack took over his role in the am slot, then he came back and I could not have been happier. Now he’s gone altogether and I can’t stand listening to the morning show at all now. Sorry Orff,I will miss you and I do hope that you can find a new home soon.

I used to really like Dave FM.

Orff was finally the ONE person in radio I made it a point to tune in for. He and Denzil were great morning radio. Then they put him on graveyard shift and when he came back it was like he was under a gag order. You were lucky to hear him say anything other than what song was played.

I mean, I was also thankful to get back to the “Music Matters” side of things but honestly if you want to honor that get rid of the Falcons crap. (It’s probably a necessary evil of getting some revenue in the door though.)

I tried to listen the first day, but that voice is just too much like listening to Star94,
will you ever learn DaveFM???

I can’t stand it anymore. What the hell is going on there? I thought Barnes & Firfir was a decent show. I liked Firfir & Orff- even when they were mostly music. Now Jimmy Baron and Yvonne? It is like listening to paint dry. Painful. Jimmy seems like a nice guy- Yvonne seems ok. But as a show? No way. It almost seems like a parady of morning radio. I am not trying to be rude to disrespectful to either of them, but this is NOT radio in a Top 10 Market. It is booooooring. C’mon Dave.. is this a Zakk Tyler mistake all over again? Yep. I can’t listen anymore.. call me when you put on yet another show..
