NeNe works the book line before she signs book at the Barnes & Noble Buckhead August 12. CREDIT: Rodney Ho/rho@ajc.com
For NeNe Leakes, attention is like a boost of oxygen. At a signing for her book ” Never Make the Same Mistake Twice” at the Buckhead Barnes & Noble, she entered the building to applause. She proceeded to go up and down the book aisles meeting and greeting (and often hugging) every single patron awaiting her signature.
“Show me some love!” she proclaimed.
She even denied pulling Kim’s wig. “Pulling your wig is personal!” she said.
When she reached the signing table, she proceeded to call Lisa Wu Hartwell and placed her on speaker. “You need to come out and support your girl!” she said.
At the table, she was kind to each and every fan, writing lengthy personal messages if requested. “Twitter me, Facebook me!” she said. “Let me know what you think!” Her husband Gregg also promoted a Royal Carribean four-day cruise he booked for her November 6-9 in which they’ve also set aside rooms for NeNe fans. While she was signing, he wrote out little yellow sticky pad notes with the Web address for the cruise. You can book here — with a weekly payment plan option.
n]

“You look like my husband,” NeNe told a rapt fan Wilson Trivino. “She seems a lot nicer in person,” Wilson said afterwards. “I get a warmer feel.”
These women below from Philadelphia saw the 5 p.m. news about NeNe’s impending arrival, grabbed a cab from their hotel at the Perimeter and made it in time to catch their favorite “Real Housewife.”
From left Barbara Pitis, Glynis Bartlett, Donna Ash, Celeste Payne and Tammy Shannon. “With NeNe, what you see is what you get!” Celeste said admirably.
“Sheree? Fake. Fake. Fake,” said Donna. “She’s a liar! I can tell!”
Ericson Harris, 24, a credit manager from Atlanta, said he’s part of her gay fan contingent. He plans to place NeNe’s book on his coffee table alongside books by Paris Hilton and Chelsea Handler.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” return for episode three tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
Before I left, I spoke with Gregg briefly. He said the cruise was his idea, not the book. He said he hasn’t read the entire book yet. I noted I was up to part about her time as a Gold Club stripper in the 1990s (and she wrote that she was dang good at it.). “I started reading there,” he said. And he said he didn’t mind that she wrote about it.

Why was this in Buchkead? She would have had more fans if the signing was at the 5 Points Marta Station. Honestly do her fans read? I am pretty sure most of her fans watch TV and have not picked up a book unless it was to throw at their child or baby daddy.

Interesting comment…..anyways.
I am so hungry, but I can’t decide what I want for breakfast…
I was thinking about getting a sausage biscuit with cheese eggs.
Oh, maybe a bowl of fruit.
But what to drink? Hmm, a diet coke sounds really good. But only if it has lite ice.
Okay, that settles it.
I’m off to grab some food.

No kidding about Atlantic Station, it’s going the way of underground. That is the Atlanta way I guess. Build something nice and within a few years it’s overrun with thugs and wanna-be gangsters. Going to California Pizza Kitchen, that’s real “street.” Watch out Discovery Mills.

First of all, who names their child NE NE. Could her parent talk or write. I was born and raised in Atlanta and this is why we get a bad rap. One white chick, that is a hooker, and 5 black women fighting. Why didn’t they get respectful hardworking women (white, black, asian, yellow, green) and film them. These women only have money because of their men. And it seems like their men are as dumb as they are. They should be cancelled and never be on TV again. And NE NE writing a book. I bet the grammer is awesome. Stupid people.

Her book should be titled “How to Marry an Athlete”.

Hey everbody, you know I am glad to know a lot of you are perfect, second you talk about having class, some of you should take the time out and read what you are trying to say and read it out loud so you can hear it. The person who bought the parents into this, what did you name your child or can you have any? The person who states who was working at Wal-mart or Pizza Hut what are you trying to say people who work these places have no class? You know it is so simple people if you don’t like someone and you can’t say something positive then don’t say anything at all. Not one of you blogging today know NeNe, I don’t know her either but I’m not judging or calling names. You want to have class people think like a man or woman and act Godly and let’s see how your words come out. NeNe I wish you the best darling to everyone else the same. Remember people the reason it’s so sucessful is because of all the haters that is what keeps this engine running.

The show is entertaining and I do not think of these women representing me personally as an african american woman. It is funny and a hot mess. We can sometimes laugh at our own people and not take it so personal. I enjoy the show and I look forward to it being on the air. All of the housewives on all of th shows have issues. I just laugh because this is a small group of women, it doesn’t represent everyone.

SHA it does’t represent anyone? I think it represents the ladies that have names you can’t spell or say or sound like stripper names real well. I think it shows Rich black and white men that if you didn’t know the tramp before you had money then you don’t need to marry her. That cow will give up the milk forever for free if she thinks she will get the pasture later. The show also shows why BIRTH CONTROL in so needed.

Texan, I’m in the kitchen and I can take the heat, but some people can’t what he said was not necessary obesity and over weight is a illness at the E Clinic you would be surprised of how many people have eating disorders, thyroid problems, when you see people breaking down and crying because they don’t want to be like that some of them have other issues as well so if I hurled a insult so be it. Sha thank you, I wish this comment would put the last nail on the coffin but it want.

Good call Romelus. You don’t hear people in Georgia discuss that now in cities such as Duluth, Lawrenceville, Alpharetta, and Roswell, most of which the homes that exceed $500,000 are occupied by people that Jen thinks are wanna-be thugs (Especially the exclusive neighborhood Country Club of the South). And let me mention that those so-called wanna-be thugs in these neighborhoods are not all ball-players and entertainment. Atlanta has attracted quite a plethra of minority business owners, attorneys, and physicians. If those people like to spend their money at Atlantic Station, Lenox or Phipps then so be it. By the way, let me mention that a few years ago when the city of Atlanta wanted stores to close early at Lenox and Phipps due to too many of the wrong crowd during All-Star Weekend in Atlanta? I would like you to know that the expensive stores such as Louis, Tourneau, Versace, Cartier, etc…. had the highest sales percentages in one weekend than any other weekend that entire year. And yes I was at Lenox Mall that weekend and yes the stores were filled with many minorities.

personally, i dont think people are “hating”, i think the major or deeper issue lies in the fact that the show does not live up to its title. Two out of five are married. and to those who just casually toss around the term “oh its just entertainment”. what is entertaining about watching friendships and personal relationships dissolve right before your eyes? what is entertaining about the fact that three of the women have lost their homes, either to forclosure or eviction? yes, they signed up for this show, but at what cost? the world, or those who are watching, the majority are not laughing with these women, but are laughing at them.
