TMZ reports Lisa Wu Hartwell loses her mansion and Kim’s 911 call about NeNe’s “choking”

If there’s one thing that’s “real” about “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” it’s real financial problems.

Now it’s Lisa Wu Hartwell’s turn. She lost her mansion in Duluth earlier this month, according to TMZ. The report says they defaulted on their mortgage and the bank took over.

In an interview at 3:05 p.m. today by phone, Lisa said she and her husband Ed left the home voluntarily.

“Ed and I are not ignorant of the state of the economy,” she said. “We chose to move. We were not evicted. It was a decision we made. It was not made for us.”

It sounds like they purposely chose to stop making mortgage payments and allowed the financial institution that owned the mortgage to pick up the pieces.

She said more details will be revealed on a later episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” “I can’t give away storylines,” she said, as the Bravo publicist listened in.

Lisa said she and Ed built the home in 2004-05 with nearly 10,000 square feet of living space. They have since moved to another home they owned, which is on ten acres. “We’re doing fine,” she said. “I love where I am.”

She said the home they built was originally appraised at $3.1 million but is now worth only $1.9 million With $2.9 million mortgage, they were under water. According to documentation my colleague Nedra Rhone procured, Bank of America bought back the property August 4 for $1.9 million. It was not a foreclosure, as some reports stated. It was a short sale, which doesn’t hurt your credit score as badly.

So why not sit on it until the market recovers? “Why throw around $30,000 a month and wait for the market to come back if it comes back?” she said.

Lisa, who runs a real estate firm, has a point. The high-end real estate market may take years to recover.

She said she is making income right now via speaking engagements and endorsements. I was about to start pressing her for more details about endorsements when she said, “You’re sure asking a lot of questions!” I joked that this is what I do for a living. Then the Bravo publicist decided we were done.

Later on, my colleague Rhone went to her current residence and spoke with Ed Hartwell. You can get details here.

TMZ has also obtained the 911 call Kim Zolciak made in April after she was allegedly choked by NeNe Leakes, a charge NeNe has denied. She does sound upset.

Kim: I was just choked by my little cast member at Taste at Atlantic Station. [A publicist for Taste said the altercation did not happen in the boutique.]

Dispatcher: You were choked by what?

Kim: By uh. I was casting my show or starting to film my show and I was choked by one of my cast members.

Dispatcher: What’s the location where you ened teh police?

Kim: I’m at the Target shopping center.

Dispatcher: What’s your name?

Kim: Kim Zolciak. Z-o-l-c-i-a-k.”

Dispatcher: And you’re in the parking lot of Target.

Kim: I’m not actually in the parking lot. I’m behind the building. There’s an underground parking center. I’m right across from Ten Pin Alley.

Dispatcher: What you wearing?

Kim: I’m in my car in a white [garble]

Dispatcher: Alright, we’ll get the police out there.

What would you guess the credit score is of all the women combined?
Under 500? 5 years from today Lisa and Ed (if married) will be living in an apartment in west cobb with a 15 year old Mercedes that has 135,000 miles but will still be making a 550 dollar a month payment. What a sorry, phony, empty lot.

Regarding Lisa’s house. According to the bank documents this was a short sale not a foreclosure. There is a huge difference. Did you do your homework on this one or did you just report what TMZ reported???

Get all the facts before you print someone business. A short sale is so different than a foreclosure. I am sure her new home is just as nice or better.

is anybody really shocked by this…the husband made about 8 million playing in the NFL (no more because of his constant injuries and being cut from various teams)and Lisa is going from business venture to business venture with no real return revenue…how do you think they were gonna keep a 2.9 mil dollar home, expensive cars, and clothes without a real JOB! Bravo is simply paying them to pretend unlike the other housewives who own insurance companies, real estate agencies, and interior decorating companies and most of all these other women come from “OLD” money…not this fly by night cash that burns away in a few years with over zealous ambitions and poor direction…

All of these women are broke..plain and simple. A short sale or an outright foreclosure, either way it goes Lisa and her husband could not afford their house payments so they were forced out. The whole show is fake! Neither one of these women have money. Most people who have money don’t talk about it.

…and what is ironic about these “pseudo-housewives” and their fake lives is that my mama always told me never to gloat over someone else’s misery…but this one is a long time coming. Pure tomfoolery at its fabulous best!

That was a foreclose not a Short Sale. Short sale do not have auctions. The bank bought back the property after failing to get a 1.9 million dollar bid.

You do! if not, you would have not read the story or join the blog. It is entertainment that sells…no matter what we think. I watch the reruns this past Sunday and find it to be an insult to real housewives. Sadly to say, drama sells.

Respectable people who have REAL money in Atlanta, do not flaunt it, thus, one can reason, that these trashy people (and alot of others in Atlanta) don’t have a pot to pee in, much less, flaunt on the show.
As a native of this city (7th generation), there are very few people who know what kind of money I or my family has and no one needs to know except me!

Both Sheree and Lisa will not be returning to the show next season. They have no $$ and their lifestyles have fallen significantly! Sheree is looking very average. She is lifting her own moving boxes and folding laundry. OK. Lisa Wu Hasrtwell has nothing going on. The scenes they have shown of her so far are all dealing with her boring home life and unemployed husband. Hey times are tough on all of us but to portray them as high society is so far fetched. I have lost interest in the show and don’t think I will watch anymore episodes.

Regardless of whether it was a short sale or foreclosure, I think that the bottom line still remains the same – these women are just as average as the people watching their show. These housewives have disfunctional lives, numerous financial issues, and they keep up too much drama. What type of message are they sending? No offense, but we might as well be watching the Housewives of Decatur, Stone Mountain, Lithonia, Conyers…it wouldn’t be much of a difference. In addition, it might be more entertaining watching “real” people, with “real” issues.

Well offense taken! I hope you’re not saying WE WIVES have those issues? These ladies live in affluent Duluth and have NO money! I’m sure there are some in Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Roswell and Cobb County who have the same issues……….don’t single us East Atlanta Housewives out.

He who is narcissistic enough to go on national tv with all these skeletons/brokeness in their closets and pretend to be fabulous w/o a charitable heart deserve to be N-barrassed. Cautionary tales, all of them. Prime-time examples of be careful what you wish for, it might just land you on TMZ. Short sales occur when you are behind in your mortgage and you’re looking for an alternative to foreclosure so no matter how you put it…bills ain’t gettin’ paid.

Short Sale or Foreclosure, does it really matter? All it does it just go to show yet another one of these so-called “housewives” was living beyond their means and couldn’t afford to pay their bills. If these women didn’t have this Bravo show to make a little money, they would be working at McDonalds or at a local strip club (cough, cough….Kim).

Why do these women deserve to have a TV show? Why are they representing Atlanta?

You can dress nice, OWN a car, OWN a condo / nice home save a few dollars and enjoy all Atlanta has to offer with a good job.

You can dress in designer clothes, drive (lease) a luxury car, rent a fancy home in Atlanta ‘play’ celebrity and end up with nothing. I feel bad for the women they really seem to want fame and are concerned with keeping up appearances. They are struggling to maintain a facade in a city with a relatively low cost of living compared to NYC / Orange county, CA.

BTW Ed Hartwell made about 13 million from the NFL since 2001
DeShawn Snow’s Husband made about 45 million since 2001 and does TV
work. (I believe he has made 60 million over his career)

Real or not, most of you jealous people wish you could live the “empty” lives of these women. Y’all would kill yourselves to have a mansion to be foreclosed on. The truth is is that most of you lead miserable lives with no hope to ever live beyond paycheck to paycheck and you find some pleasure in seeing someone who is rich have some sort of difficulty. Pathetic.

That is a foreclosure…not a short sale. A short sale would involve another buyer (a person not a bank) purchasing the house and the bank agreeing to take less then is owed on the home. As of August 4th, Bank of America is the owner of the home. It is bank owned- because they foreclosed. Lisa was not on the original security instrument so might have purchased the new home in her name only. I did notice that they defaulted on an adjustable rate note. Adjustable rates got us into the housing mess in the first place. Or i guess I should say people who didn’t understand their adjustable rate got us into this mess.

just saying....

No part of jealousy here…..I would not want to live any of their lives because they “seem” to live without JESUS. God forgive me if I’m wrong, but what’s being portrayed on TV is not showing JESUS anywhere. (cursing, drinking, backbiting, fighting, lying, etc.) Not really good role models for your children (Lisa, NeNe, Kim, Sheree & the new girl) So, I thank God for the life I have….a Christian, happily married, in love, working everyday (paycheck to paycheck) and giving God 10%. Thank you JESUS!

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN “use to be.” You are SO correct in your statement: “Most people who have money don’t talk about it.” As a journalist, I’ve worked with people who make salaries of at least $300,000-plus a year, live in mansions that are paid for, and own businesses you can lookup on the Internet. Never once did they parade their wealth in my face.
It’s the “wannabes” who go around telling others how much this supposedly cost and how much that supposedly cost. And most of the time, they’re either liars or so much in debt to pay for the stuff that they lose it or have to sell it.
These women are just a bunch of fakes who are trying to be something that they’re not. I remember hearing some of the cast members say that they’re “Atlanta’s wealthy elite.” Are you kidding me? These fools are only beginner middle class at best, and with the recent string of events, they’re slipping with every passing day.
Compared to the other “Real Housewives” shows, the Atlanta cast members look like fools who can’t afford their homes and have husbands with no business sense and who can’t do nothing but play sports.

Bishop, Kol-t, Truth Hurts

You are all wrong. Atlanta is not for wannabes, Atlanta is for strivers. People are not upset because they are jealous. They are upset because there a many beautiful black female entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, lawyers and actual housewives who could have been fierce, brought drama and some class. People come to Atlanta to chase the American Dream (and then some) . When the Bravo show was announced people expected a showcase of strong-willed women living comfortably in Atlanta but instead it is a train wreck.

Note: I specified black because Bravo opted to cast black women for the Atlanta show. There are obviously women of all races that would have represented Atlanta well.

I have had it with you and your show. Your conduct on your recent episodes have convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the housewives of America – of me personally. Yall are so obsessed with appeasing the ebony world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of a housewife! You are responsible to the citizens of the United States! You are not responsible to the peoples of other people!

I personally resent that you all! I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to have another season.

I have lived in Atlanta for almost 20 years; and it has kept getting glitzier (sp)…meaning…bling is the important thing….not character. Its like we are suppose to be living under some disco ball or something…all shiney and new all the time. When you look behind all that bling…you find something not so shiney and nice. I have been in mansions in Atlanta where only two rooms are filled with furniture…..what does that tell you…that the outside means more than the inside….I guess so. This is the same philosophy of this show. Bye.
