Real Housewives of Atlanta recap, season two, episode one
They’re baaaack. And given how much press “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” have gotten over the past eight months since the first season ended, it’s as if they’ve never left.
The highlight of this first episode is not drama between the five housewives. No, it’s between Sheree Whitfield and her party promoter Anthony.
At first, things are hunky dory as he pitches her a concept for her post-divorce “independence party.” He wants it to be themed around Hollywood and Cleopatra. Somehow he makes this sound like it’s original.
Sheree tells him she wants something “grand, grand grand” for her independence party. “The party is all about me,” she said. But of course. Question: Who’s paying for this? Who knows?
But later, Anthony gets annoyed when Sheree starts asking her questions. They meet face to face and it gets ugly fast. She feels out of the loop. He becomes defensive. Then they start yelling.
She also portrayed her ex husband Bob as evil for not paying child support for 19 months and stopping mortgage payments without telling her. Her home was in foreclosure, forcing her to move in a new place. Bob has stayed studiously quiet about all this so we get only her side of the story.
NeNe Leakes is in a forgiving mood. She first reconciles with Sheree. The pair had a falling out last year over a missing party invite.
NeNe also wants to bury the hatchet with Kim Zolciak at a birthday party for “Reno 911″ Niecy Nash. (”Who’s birthday?” Sheree asked.) But Kim avoids NeNe though Kim claims she was really avoiding Lisa Wu Hartwell, who was with NeNe. It’s just like high school!
Kim sees her psychic again. She has been spending money on this gal for seven years. She says she broke up, saying it’s been “rough.” “There was some betrayal. He was talking to people he shouldn’t be talking to behind his back,” she said. Yes, typical drama when it comes to Kim. She denies that she lied about Lisa. She’s still hurt about NeNe and her mocking Kim’s singing abilities. “I do care about her? Am I ready to have a glass of wine with NeNe? I don’t know.”
She is starting her own wig line and goes to a school to learn about wigs. But she has no attention span and gets bored. She said she needed money now that she was no longer with “Big Poppa.” I suspect it’s much easier for her to find another Sugar Daddy than actually work, though.
Kim’s gossip mongering is peeving NeNe, Lisa and Sheree. And all three believe she won’t apologize.
In other “Housewives” news, Ed is ready to have Child No. 2 and Lisa is a bit apprehensive. “I’m 38 and the clock is ticking,” she said.
Fifteen minutes in, newbie Kandi Burruss pops up for the first time as a friend of Lisa’s. She introduces herself as a financially secure singer-songwriter, a single mom and ready to marry a dude with six kids. There is no sign of what may come later in terms of her falling out with NeNe.

For those who think Sheree had no right to ask questions cause his services were free, you are WRONG! Anthony couldn’t afford to pay for all the publicity he is getting now. Nothing is free. If he would have acted like a profession, Anthony would have been swamped with work but instead it look like bankrupcy is in his future.

I read all these comments from women who say that Sheree’ deserve what she got, how do we as women justify a man on national tv talking to another woman like that, whether you like Sherre or not’, that man was out of order. All of these women work, they don’t do housewives for free! Sheree, was not paying for the party, the event comapny was throwing the party for free to get recgonition. And people what attitude did Sheree’ have? If you are going to write a poem about me, how can you if you don’t know anything about me? She had the right to ask questions, this was her party, whether she paid for it or not. Anthony let the world see him acting just like the world think black men act. What a shame. Atlanta Housewive’s is entertainment, not a reality for all black women. See the show for what it is. No we don’t see everything that goes on during taping of the show, but what we saw was a BLACK MAN, calling a BLACK WOMAN a BITCH on national tv. There is not JUSTIFICATION, none.

I wish I would have been with Sheree when Anthony was acting a damn fool!! I would have beat his ass!!! Then he had the nerve to be on V103 talking about he doesn’t think what happen is going to hurt his business! PLEASE! Someone needs to post the business name so there will be a BOYCOTT. Man, it was very disheartening to see him let alone disgrace this black woman, WOMAN, and then her MOTHER TOO!! Man it makes me upset just thinking about it. i watched last night and was totally drawn in by that seen with anthony and sheree. i was laughing so hard i had to wake up my wife who was on the couch and rewind the tivo to show it to her. i dont know why i have fixated on this anthony zero. maybe i was drawn in when he uttered “i am a high level executive” and 2 minutes later said “your mama is a bitch”. classic.
i saw on an earlier post that he works for “eventologie”. is that true. whats his last name. i need to hit this guy up on facebook and see what he is all about. anyone..?

I’m not that fond of Sheree but I have to take her side on this one. During the argument he stated that everyone knows that she’s “burnt” in the industry, and he still agreed to plan her party. He was also wrong for calling her mom a $%^&*. I can’t watch this mess anymore.

“My People Are Better Than This” you are so right. I was saddened by many elements of season’s two premier episode. Sheree’s comments on the new space she now occupies and the fight with the Party Planner truly saddened me. In such dire economic times, when a roof over one’s head is a blessing, she made comments concerning the new home not being luxuries enough for her. Is that not the mentality that has lead us down the path of economic despair? Living way above our means? Sheree was blessed that she did not end up living in a SHELTER or on the streets. Sheree’s fight with the party planner will remain the all time low point of the series for me. Both parties proclaimed themselves to be professionals, and yet they both behaved light common street trash, getting ready for a knife fight. Being a man, I can not condone the Event Planner handling a woman in that manner, however, that scene was heavily edited and she is a cast member. The editing was more in her favor than his. Black on Black crime…On to my criticism of Bravo. What happened to the cable channel that exposed to me to many beautiful foreign films as a teenager? You had such promise and provided me wonderful exposure to thought provoking films and documentaries from around the world. What happened? Do I blame you Bravo? Do I blame the millions who tune in, including myself to see us (black folks) portrayed as fools again and again? Well, I will no longer support such insanity.

First of all this show should be called The Fake Housewives of Duluth since they all live OTP. I admit that I watch the show but I know this is NOT how ladies of the ATL act. For me, this is just pure fun. I don’t think you can take it too seriously because we know that it is just TV.

It’s just a show! If you don’t like it or think it’s trash, don’t watch!! On that note, the ONLY one I like is NeNe. Sheree is the most arrogant person I have ever seen. And, I agree with SAR. The attitudes of most of these people is why I live in Alpharetta! The city of Atlanta continues to become more and more of a ghetto.

I’m sorry those girls DO NOT represent the real atlanta housewives nor do they represent those of us that were actually born here. Come on people. It is a reality TV show. It is entertainment not an actuality TV show. If you want actuality then watch Forensic Files or Court TV. Since when do you believe EVERYTHING you see on TV anyways? If you do then I will pray for you. And besides the Housewives of NJ were spitting on each other and flipping tables. One is the subject of a book relaying her past that was not too clean. The Housewives of NY were very catty. One of them is squatting in a wreck of a brownstone and two of them are NOT married nor engaged. Not to mention their skin looks old and like it needs a deep moisturizer, fresh air, trees, and grass. If that’s what the concrete jungle does to your looks ya’ll can have it. The Housewives of Orange County are the fakest women I’ve ever seen…fake hair, boobs, lips, should I continue? However, I do love the Housewives of ATL show. I love Dwight…wish we could see more of him! And I want Anthony to grow a pair and get a clue. You do not talk to any woman like that no matter how riled up she gets you. You leave, calm down, and come back later. He can’t be a southerner let alone from Georgia. How dreadful!

I tried to watch the show last year & I have to tell you it made us Atlanta women look BAD! The show was saying to all the viewers that Atlanta has nothing but trashy women. Lisa & her husband are the real deal, but the others are nothing but gold digging trash! Nene, Kim (especially!) & Sheree are nothing but trash women who want to be with rich, rich men & then throw them out when they get their $$! I watched the new show last night & it just proved my point even more…these women are just gold diggers & they need a reality check & it made the women of Atlanta look like just plain old trash! Atlanta women are better than the women that are on this show! I do love the housewives of NY, & especially Jersey….God, those women were ruthless!! I would bet they are mafia tied too!

I enjoyed the show. It’s reality television ENTERTAINMENT! Yes, you would expect that they would have a little money now, especially with the success of last season. Also, YES, the party planner is still getting paid in publicity. Good or bad, he agreed to take her (the show) on as a client and if there were questions that she wasnt clear on, he should make sure his client had a good understanding. He didnt HAVE to take this on. He obviously saw a benefit in doing so.
Stop picking and the name calling and just enjoy it.

I thought that black women, with the arrival of the first lady, were over the exploitation and stereotypes. There are women who have class, know how to act like ladies and are not loud and obnoxious like this crew. Ne Ne and the rest of the housewives are a disgrace to Black America. All I have to say honestly is LOSER’S and I would like to know how any of you can say that you are the real housewifes of Atlanta when not one of you LOSER’S do anything. Most housewifes do cook dinner, wash clothes, dishes etc….. yeah haven’t seen not one of you doing that oh yeah that’s right but you sure all are good at picking up those wine glasses. Ok another thing Sheree instead of depending on your ex for you to live your live style maybe you should get a real job, NeNe show some freakin class and wear more apporiate clothing, Kim seriously don’t ever go for the singing because you totally suck, and don’t do the wig thing either that won’t work. I have to say that Lisa is probably the only real one on there because she actually does have a job and has a little one to take care of.

I was in Atlanta several week ago for a firefighter conference, seems to me either you work in strip club or you’re a customer in a strip club. I know the real house wives of Atlanta would not degrade themselves to be with these women. Let alone, put their business in the streets.

It doesnt matter if you like the women or not, it is clear who not to hire to do party planning. Shree held back, I would have showed him who the Bi–ch was. Little want to be would have been on his ass so fast it would have put the real Fast and Furious to shame. In this time and age with money like it is does he even know how any professional acts, even if you have a difficult client it usually is best to show respect and if the client refuses to do( which didnt seem to be the issue here ) then you walk away. Hand her party to someone else or stop doing business with that person, but you never stand up and start a fight. I guess he will be another excutive without a job.

The Real Desperate Housewives of Atlanta Season 2 is not a great representation of women in Atlanta. The only one with class is Lisa- Both Lisa and Nene live in St. Marlo which is not even in Atlanta- they are the token black families of the neighborhood- that area is like 95 percent white. The rest of the girls live outside of Atlanta as well. Most people that actually live in Atlanta with money would never be on this show- they have too much of it already. Most affluent blacks live in the south dekalb area. Atlanta is a huge, diverse area (white,black, latino, people from all over and all different backgrounds)- I just wish the show would have done a better job of representing Atlanta with a more diverse cast. Although I will say the show is hilarious and packs more drama than any show out there.
