Real Housewives of Atlanta recap, season two, episode one
They’re baaaack. And given how much press “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” have gotten over the past eight months since the first season ended, it’s as if they’ve never left.
The highlight of this first episode is not drama between the five housewives. No, it’s between Sheree Whitfield and her party promoter Anthony.
At first, things are hunky dory as he pitches her a concept for her post-divorce “independence party.” He wants it to be themed around Hollywood and Cleopatra. Somehow he makes this sound like it’s original.
Sheree tells him she wants something “grand, grand grand” for her independence party. “The party is all about me,” she said. But of course. Question: Who’s paying for this? Who knows?
But later, Anthony gets annoyed when Sheree starts asking her questions. They meet face to face and it gets ugly fast. She feels out of the loop. He becomes defensive. Then they start yelling.
She also portrayed her ex husband Bob as evil for not paying child support for 19 months and stopping mortgage payments without telling her. Her home was in foreclosure, forcing her to move in a new place. Bob has stayed studiously quiet about all this so we get only her side of the story.
NeNe Leakes is in a forgiving mood. She first reconciles with Sheree. The pair had a falling out last year over a missing party invite.
NeNe also wants to bury the hatchet with Kim Zolciak at a birthday party for “Reno 911″ Niecy Nash. (”Who’s birthday?” Sheree asked.) But Kim avoids NeNe though Kim claims she was really avoiding Lisa Wu Hartwell, who was with NeNe. It’s just like high school!
Kim sees her psychic again. She has been spending money on this gal for seven years. She says she broke up, saying it’s been “rough.” “There was some betrayal. He was talking to people he shouldn’t be talking to behind his back,” she said. Yes, typical drama when it comes to Kim. She denies that she lied about Lisa. She’s still hurt about NeNe and her mocking Kim’s singing abilities. “I do care about her? Am I ready to have a glass of wine with NeNe? I don’t know.”
She is starting her own wig line and goes to a school to learn about wigs. But she has no attention span and gets bored. She said she needed money now that she was no longer with “Big Poppa.” I suspect it’s much easier for her to find another Sugar Daddy than actually work, though.
Kim’s gossip mongering is peeving NeNe, Lisa and Sheree. And all three believe she won’t apologize.
In other “Housewives” news, Ed is ready to have Child No. 2 and Lisa is a bit apprehensive. “I’m 38 and the clock is ticking,” she said.
Fifteen minutes in, newbie Kandi Burruss pops up for the first time as a friend of Lisa’s. She introduces herself as a financially secure singer-songwriter, a single mom and ready to marry a dude with six kids. There is no sign of what may come later in terms of her falling out with NeNe.

She can’t. Her hubby has custody and forbade the kids from being shown on the show at all. She probably isn’t legally allowed to even mention them.

Ms. Ice I was wondering the same thing. They never said what he does for a living. Some girls just don’t want the mild mannered professional type. They’re only into the thugged out guy on the streets. So maybe it works for her. Although she should think more about what is best for her child than what turns her on.
Little Riley is cute as button but as someone mentioned maybe a little too grown looking I would never have guessed she was just 6 years old. She talked kinda like a 6 year old. I thought it was cute how she said that she would be getting 6 new friends versus 6 new brothers and sisters. I like how kids are think so differently and simply. If we just carry over the good simple stuff of childhood into adulthood but only the immature bickering and petty stuff seems to carry over. Then again this show would not be even a quarter as fun. Love this show!

FUNNY DRAMA! As with all DRAMA we like to know that other peoples lives are “more” Dysfunctional than ours…that’s why we watch. It’s pure entertainment…They are “not” housewives (no cooking,cleaning, PTAs, grocery shopping, running errands…just parties) nor successful business women (except Kandi).
Even Deshawn’ s foundation was not that empowering (my teen daughter attended this summer.- I know she was booted off)
I say the give “housewives” a bad name. Because we are not full of DRAMA; we don’t have time for social events-unless you consider lil league football, PTAs, & publix an outting.

I agree that sounds fishy. However there are articles in the paper all the time about people who rent a house and don’t know it’s in foreclosure until they are kicked out. So it’s possible but at the same time considering she wasn’t a tenant but technically as his wife still an owner I don’t see it.

On the foreclosure tip, I forged papers and told my then husband we were in foreclosure and had a actual court date set up in the hopes he would fork over some money and realize I needed help with the mortgage! Everything looked official and it scared him into reality. Had to take drastic measures to get his attention since he drowned out my voice and my pleas.

This show is for entertainment purposes. For those of you who can not understand this, don’t watch the show. It irritates me to hear some people calling these women horrible names……..And some of you claim that racism no longer exists……….PLEASE! All I keep hearing is how these women are “ghetto, weeve wearing” and so on. I wish some of you idiot would go sit on a sharp, jagged rock. Maybe that would release some of your pressure.
Anyway, hats off to these ladies as I love them no matter what. I am from Atlanta and I think the RHoA are representing us well and doing an excellent job at showing the country that we can whitty and entertaining down in the south as well.

Disgusting portrayal of Black women in Atlanta! There are tons of classy Black women in Atlanta. I understand this is television but there are few images of Blacks on T.V. We are often judged by what we portray in media, film, music etc. The B***h word was thrown around too loosely and kids are watching this. It’s a shame that they always show these women going to parties and never cultural events (theater, plays, dance,music etc.) Enough of these glammed up handkerchief head, modern day minstrel shows already!

Lisa is talking about having another baby. She never mentions or acknowledge her 2 other children. Do they ever visit, does she have any kind of relationship with them? It’s like they don’t exist to her. I think that is so sad.

Depending on your age, were you into Knots Landing, Dallas, soap operas, Rawhide (J/K), The Jeffersons, I love Lucy, etc. Now, Housewives is a horse of a different color, but it’s a trainwreck no matter how much you try to divert your eyes, you just kain’t!

I actually enjoyed the show last night. I think Season 2 opened with a BIG BANG! I watched the entire Season 1 and must admit that I was not impressed at all. I wasn’t looking forward to Season 2. But last night I was convinced that I must watch this show and I think Season 2 is going to offer more. This is pure ENTERTAINMENT!!!

The party planner said and it was stated SHEREE DID NOT pay for this party, it was done for FREE. So I guess he got irritated with her ass thinking she can run things without anyone even getting compensated!!!
Also all these so called “housewives are frauds”. You don’t know when your house is in foreclosure????? The notices are being sent to your house (certified) and regular! then a court order is being placed on your door by the marshalls. I don’t know any bank or mortage company that will NOT try and attempt to reach out to the debtors to pay their mortage. If they were married most likely they would know that Sheree is his wife and watching this show they know how to reach her. She is full of B.S. and broke.
All these chicks are broke down, hood rats, then managed to trap a ball player and get in their pockets. What has Lisa really done, can somebody please list a resume of major accomplishements that allow her to provide for a lifestyle DO NOT include alimony and child support payments from Keith Sweat.
Kim you already know she just leeched of Big Poppa. So she has no talent or contribution but being a bank account leak.
NeNe what is she doing? All these chicks don’t have anything to contribute to anybodies relationship.

I’m with you Malika, I can’t wait to get the 411 on this Anthony character. Not that I ever need to plan a high end expensive party or anything, I just want to know who he is and what idiot hired him. It will be interesting to see what an impact his 15 minutes of fame had on his career.

I watched the show late last night and it was a mess. These bickering, angry, unhappy women with attitudes are reinforcing the negative stereotypes of Black women…and men too. We’ve seen the feminine men (Dwight and Sheree’s hairstylist). Then, they showed us the angry, belligerent Black man last night(the party planner). I won’t be watching it anymore. There are some sisters in Atlanta that know how to handle their business and can still treat themselves with some sense of decorum and respect. The show last night was a mere two steps away from being a minstrel show.
