Sneak preview of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” season two
Bravo last week sent me a preview copy of the first episode of season two of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” which is set to debut July 30 at 10 p.m.
I won’t give away the store but here are some teasers. If you don’t want to be teased, stop reading now. (Taping starting back in late February and ended around Memorial Day.)
- DeShawn Snow, dropped from the cast for being too dull, has truly disappeared. Even old clips from last season show no sign of her. And there is no mention of her absence either.
- Her replacement, R&B singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss shows up about 15 minutes in, identified as a friend of Lisa Wu Hartwell. Lisa helpfully fills people in on her resume, including the fact she wrote TLC’s huge Grammy-winning hit “No Scrubs” a decade ago. Kandi, who is working on a solo album in her home studio, has a six year old daughter and a fiance — with six kids. It’s too soon to say how her arrival will change the dynamics among the other four, but the producers obviously hope she engages them more than DeShawn did.
- Kim Zolciak during this episode says she’s single and no longer with Big Poppa (the still unnamed married man Lee Najjar.) She again seeks advice from her psychic. The fact she has a psychic says a lot, eh?
- Lisa Wu Hartwell’s business work is not mentioned but let’s say the 38 year old has three of these and is thinking about a fourth. And tension remains between her and Kim over the reunion episode where Lisa accused Kim of spreading false rumors about her e.g. she lost custody of her kids with hubby No. 1 Keith Sweat because she took drugs.
- Sheree Whitfield clashes with a party planner for her “post divorce “independence party.” (Didn’t she have a party like that already last season?) It’s certainly a highlight of hour one. “Whatever happened to customer service?” Sheree said. She also talks about being booted from her $2 million home that her ex husband Bob stopped paying for and had to move into a more modest home, something I wrote about a couple weeks back.
- NeNe Leakes is also in a new (presumably rental) home and there are some amusing scenes between her and gay hairdresser buddy Dwight Eubanks. She and Kim are still estranged after NeNe last year mocked Kim’s country music ambitions behind her back, but both are making attempts to reconcile.

Tiny can sing. Make that sang! All the girls from Xscape can sing great individually and together. To the rest of you fools on here…..SHUT UP! If you don’t like the show…”TURN THAT DIAL!” You’re just mad because you don’t get paid enough on your job(s) to have people pay you to follow you around day in and day out and broadcast your life to the world. At least these ladies had a plan to get PAID one way or another husband or not. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Let it marinate on your nimble membranes.

LOL @DX. Cassie Tiny has a beautiful voice. In fact people used to call her Baby Mariah. Idon’t see Kandi bringing any more excitement to the show than Deshawn did.

Every season of Real Housewives has included some cast members who are not married: OC-3 of the women were single or divorced, NY-2 were single, NJ-1 was single so why is it suddenly a prerequisite that the Atlanta cast be married? the title of the show is not to be taken soo literally people “housewives” is not the legal title of being a wife, it means the mentality of being kept, or wanting a certain lifestyle.

I used to really hate this show but it is entertaining. I can’t stop watching it because these women are hilarious. At first, I was so embarrassed but if they don’t care how it looks then why should I? It’s brainless tv and I can’t wait to see the new episodes.

According to Bravo, Atlanta is the only city with black housewives. I guess no black housewives live in Orange Co., New York or New Jersey and the only white one in Atlanta is a gold digging ho with a bad wig.

I understand the fact that “reality” shows are based on confrontation. The people who watch such tripe don’t want to see the “characters” holding hands and singing “Kumbayah”; they want to watch them screaming at each other; “cussing” at each other, and threatening to whoop each other’s butt.
Having acknowledged all of that, I still have to ask: can’t Bravo find at least one group of housewives in the entire U.S. that has a little class and dignity. Just to see what all the fuss is about, I’ve watched snippets of every “incarnation” of the housewives, and I never cease to be amazed at how tacky, “low-rent”, and self-centered every group has been, despite their (allegedly) “large” bank accounts.
Of course, when you really think about it, nobody with even a modicum class and dignity would agree to participate in such a vulgar form of “entertainment”, so I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that the show proudly features the worst and dimmest elements of American society.
Oh, and one more thing. Ree, speaking as a white guy, I’m ashamed you’re white, too.

These woman are in no way even a partially fair representation of Atlanta’s woman. It bothers me that Bravo chose to select money grubbing,paper chasing low class woman who’ve only got to their economic level in life by sleeping with someone ELSE who did ALL of the work to attain those “riches”.
This show,and the other “housewife” show’s is a slap in the face of the woman and men who really work their a$$es off to succeed in this world. The lesson to be learned here is that money doesn’t take the trash out of people,no matter how many dollar signs you throw at them.

To those complaining about the “haters” — it’s pretty simple — the title of the show has the name of our city within it, therefore, the suggestion is that the morons on the show are somehow representative of our city which I (and apparently others) find annoying and insulting. I am from Illinois originally, and upon recent visits back home I have been asked, in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek way of course, if that garbage they call a show was indicative at all of life in Atlanta (totally embarrassing). Last time I checked, free speech is protected so hopefully more and more will join in on the insults. Maybe with enough b*tching and complaining, the show will be cancelled and the Atlanta image will no longer be tarnished by cr@p like “RHA”
Bravo used to show programming reflective of the higher intellect that its name connotates. Now they scrape the scum off the bottom of the barrel, present it in “train-wreck” fashion as mentioned above, and wait for the simple minded to tune in week after week so they can rake in the ad bucks. It’s really quite desperate on Bravo’s part….doesn’t that bother you at all? No? I guess the old adage applies…ignorance truly is bliss.

To the “evil republicans” poster. Nice facts. “Ask an Indian, Asian or Hispanic person who is evil?” Most that I have met are happy to be here, greatfull for the opportunities in this country and try to do the best to advance themselves and their families. They do not fell victimized by the evil white man.
Who stole what job and sent it oversees? Give me one specific example. Just one. A job is not something that is owed to the employee. It is somthing that the business owner can award to whoever he/she thinks will most benefit the company. That entitlement mentality that you have is a huge problem in our country.
Did people who had no business buying houses they could NOT afford have anything to do with hurting this economy? No, why would we hold any individual who got in over their heads accountable for their own actions? That would be silly.

I love watching women succeed in anything and I am really just waiting for Atlanta to be portrayed in a good light. I feel our version of this show is just a really sick joke. The fighting, and the fact that really we are missing some HOUSEWIVES to even talk about is just plain stupid. I know so many positive and productive housewives of all races in Atlanta really holding it down. Guess that would defeat the purpose of the show, I mean who really cares about women who are really doing great things everyone wants to see fighting and women acting vulgar and vain. Just wish people were ready for something different.:(
