One of V-103 host Ryan Cameron’s most popular charity ideas for his foundation over the years has been his annual father-daughter dance. Ryan himself loves to celebrate the special bond he and other dads have with their daughters.
Starting six years ago with 400 people, he’s now grown it to 750 people at the Marriott Marquis this Sunday.
Cameron said he has added a second dance floor this year in the Marriott’s biggest ballroom. “We didn’t want people dancing over their dessert. We’re outgrowing places. It’s amazing. Even with this economy, to have sold out a month in advance just shows what’s going on.”
His two daughters Kai and Ryan Megan join him every year. (He also has a son Cayden) This year, they bought vintage dresses at a local dress shop. He has a matching tux and bowtie. “It’s going to be something out of Walt Disney World,” he said.
The age range of the daughters is anywhere from 4 to 40s, he said.
The theme song? “Dance With Your Father” by Luther Vandross. “A lot of guys have never danced with their daughters,” he said. “This should be sponsored by Kleenex watching grown men cry.”
Here’s the summary of what his foundation does off his Web site:
The Ryan Cameron Foundation (RCF) was established to provide Atlanta’s youth with the tools needed to empower them for their future leadership roles. The Foundation strives to provide young people with a forum, which includes: mentoring, tutoring, volunteering, celebrity appearances, life experiences, self-reflection, leadership instruction and personal coaching
Sandra Rose has some lovely photos of Ryan from last year’s dance.

It is great to see men who care about family, yesterday Ryan Cameron shared that there is another Father Daughter Ball being held that he recommends you go to since his is sold out. Check out Deron Cloud’s Father Daughter Ball at http://www.thesoulfactory.com or call 404-292-8489. It is being held this Saturday, June 20th — tickets are still available. Ryan will be interviewing Deron on his show today to talk about it as well.

Next year I will buy tickets and surprise my son with them for his almost 10 year old daughter. They adore each other, and that would be an event in her life that she would treasure forever; plus she loves to get dressed up.

The same here Marsha..If only I could have one last minute with him. For all of you daughters and fathers that’s not in your daughters lives, think twice. Tomorrow is not promised to us but if you touch today then reach other today. I tell one of my friends every chance I get, his daughter will leave for college this week.. Make her expectations of men as high as you set them. This will make her not accept just anything one or anything… This will help build her character and her choice in men. Happy Fathers Day to all of you Fathers WHO are in your childrens lives and I continue to pray for the ones who would love to be in their children lives and for the ones that have made a bad decision, you can not relive yesterday but strive hard for tomorrow.

I wish I could have done something like this with my Daddy we were very close. He Died this year April 29 I spent Fathers Day putting flowers on his Grave. I never would’ve thought this time last year that my Daddy Andre wouldn’t be here. He died from a massive stroke which he had on my B-day at my Party April 4. Life is just to fragile to not show & tell the people in your life that you love them. Although I’m 34 yrs. old it still is a very hurtful, feels like I’m 4 yrs. old. I would encourage all Fathers to continue to show your kids that they you love them and are there for them. The Fathers that choose to avoid responsibility GOD HELP YOU . because you reep what you sow & mothers who keep children from there fathers God help you as well.

This was my first dance that me and my step dad attended and I thought it was the greatest thing for him since my mom passed. My dad has not really been able to move on because she was truely his sole mate for 18 yrs until the lord saw fit to take her, and I think he had a great time connecting with the guys and making knew friends and not to mention I love Ryan he is just a down to earth cool dude.

There are hundreds if not thousands of events for mothers on Mother’s day, so I think you might have to ask around because I’m almost positive that there is already a ball for mothers. If you were being sarcastic then that’s silly. I think that for this article we need to leave the mother’s out of it. This is about Fathers.
