The flood of new summer shows earlier this month have slowed. But a couple of Atlanta-based networks are introducing potential hits.

The biggest scripted show of the week to watch is TNT’s “Hawthorne” Tuesday starring Jada Pinkett-Smith as a nurse:

And this Sunday, watch for a couple of fun Cartoon Network reality programs that adults might enjoy, too, including “Destroy Build Destroy”:

And check out “Brainrush,” which is a quiz show on a roller coaster. The video trailer says it all:

MONDAY
“The Bachelorette” 8 p.m. ABC — Some of these bachelors (gasp!) have girlfriends. Jillian tries to find out who’s hiding what.
“Greek” 8 p.m. ABC Family (2nd season finale) — Dale and Calvin go on “purity pledges” that surely won’t last long.
“The Closer” 9 p.m. TNT — Kitty’s sicker than ever, while the department deals with Daniels’ move, Gabriel juggling double duty and Provenza acting odder than normal.
“Jon & Kate Plus 8” 9 p.m. TLC — More about Jon’s custom chopper than his alleged philandering.
“Kathy Griffin: My LIfe on the D-List” 10 p.m. Bravo — It was Bette last week. This week, Kathy gloms onto Lily Tomlin.
“Run’s House” 10 p.m. MTV (6th season debut) — Yes, these reality shows can go on for years and years.
TUESDAY
“CMT Music Awards” 8 p.m. CMT — T Pain and Taylor Swift will duet and Bill Engvall will host.
“Wedding Day” 8 p.m. TNT (new series) — Deserving couples get their dream weddings. Yes, this is as treacly as it sounds.
“Hawthorne” 9 p.m. TNT (new series) — Jada Pinkett Smith stars as a nurse with a heart of gold.
“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” 10 p.m. Bravo (season finale) — Tensions erupt at Teresa’s end-of-the-year party.
“Saving Grace” 10 p.m. TNT (3rd season debut) — Grace and Ham are caught in a compromising position.
“The Singing Bee” 10:30 p.m. CMT (2nd season debut) — New host (Melissa Peterman instead of Joey Fatone) and new network (bye bye NBC!)

WEDNESDAY
“So You Think You Can Dance” 8 p.m. Fox — We’re now down to… 18!
“I Survived a Japanese Game Show” 9 p.m. ABC (2nd season debut) — Domo Arigato, ABC. This show is only slightly less dopey than “Wipeout.”
Real World/Road Rules Challenge” 10 p.m. MTV — Yes, the long-awaited reunion special!
“Top Chef Masters” 10 p.m. Bravo — The chefs have to make meals inspired by the TV show “Lost.”
“Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns” 10 p.m. TBS — Miss Daisy and Leroy Brown find out they have something in common.
“The Unusuals” 10 p.m. ABC (series finale) — Beaumont and Cole go undercover to find a criminal who breaks into apartments and shoots porn.
THURSDAY
“Burn Notice” 9 p.m. USA — A black market dealer kidnaps Michael’s brother Nate.
“She’s Got the Look” 9 p.m. TV Land — The women are given big makeovers for the first photo shoot.
“So You Think You Can Dance” 9 p.m. Fox — Two more gone in what is turning out to be a very deep pool of talent.
“Fashion Show” 10 p.m. Bravo — Becki Newton (“Ugly Betty”) challenges designers to change a party outfit into a work outfit. (Former Altanta Anna is doing just fine so far.)
“The Listener” 10 p.m. NBC — Toby is accused of killing a woman.
“Royal Pains” 10 p.m. USA — This show is proving to be a great companion to “Burn Notice.” A senator’s son gets a strange illness.
FRIDAY
“The Chopping Block” 8 p.m. NBC — This poor man’s “Top Chef” was axed in the spring after three episodes. NBC is explicably bringing back stale, leftover episodes.
“Don’t Forget the Lyrics” 8 p.m. Fox (2nd season finale) — An Italian caterer tries to cook up some cash.
“Surviving Suburbia” 8 p.m. ABC — Stevie gets a gun and feels all macho.
“Goode Family” 8:30 p.m. ABC — To impress the arts council, Helen and Gerald befriend a lesbian couple. Yah. That’ll work.
“Whale Wars” 9 p.m. Animal Planet — Rookie deckhands try to save the hull of the Steve Irwin.
“Bang For Your Buck” 9:30 p.m. HGTV — Three Atlanta homeowners renovate with $70,000 each. Who does the best job?
WEEKEND
“Brainrush” 8 p.m. Saturday Cartoon (new series) — Try to win a quiz show… while on a roller coaster!
“Destroy Build Destroy” 8 p.m. Saturday Cartoon (new series) — Rocker Andrew W.K. hosts a show in which two teams destroy, then create a structure. The losers’ structure then gets destroyed Tonight — air cannon assault vehicles that shoot tennis balls.
“Eli Stone” 10 p.m. Saturday ABC — This show has already been cancelled but ABC is burning leftover originals on a Saturday night in the summer.
“Merlin” 8 p.m. Sunday NBC (new series) —  This is a fun BBC medieval series about Merlin when he was a young hottie.

“Killer Hair” 8 p.m. Sunday Lifetime Movie Network — Maggie Lawson (“Psych”) plays a fashion reporter who stumbles upon some “hair-raising” murders. (The LMN publicity department came up with that gem of a pun.)
“Impact” 9 p.m. Sunday ABC — Part one of a two part miniseries about the moon crashing into Earth. ABC doing a miniseries? How 1989! Nibble on this cheesy trailer:

I thought the old-fashioned way was paying for it? If not, I’m going to have to reassess a few things.

Looks like a really sparse week for TV. It’s almost like the networks are trying to FORCE us to read. Well, that ain’t happening. I’ll probably just stock up on Jergen’s and watch the news babes on the various networks. Sure beats reading. Heck, we’re supposed to get 25-30 minutes of exercise a day so I should be set with this plan and I won’t even have to join a gym.

My best bet is the new season of the First 48 on A&E (this Tuesday). Its like Law and Order except its the real thing. Some cases have twists and turns while others are straight forward. Either way its true to life.

You guys should tune in to Wedding Day Tuesday night @ 8PM on TNT. I am from the Atlanta area (Douglasville) and I’m one of the grooms no the show. This is going to be a good one. The premire is tomorrow night but our episode will air on July 28. Atlanta and Douglasville will play a key role so be sure to catch it.
