Atlanta’s TNT and ESPN both had slamdunk ratings for the NBA playoffs this spring.

Ratings are up about 19 percent over 2008 for ESPN with an average of 4.89 million viewers over 19 games, up from 4.1 million in 2008. TNT’s 43 games jumped 24 percent to 4.71 million from 3.81 million. A combination of great games and great matchups fueled the upswing.

Nationally, game four between the Magic and Cavs on TNT on May 28 brought in a record 10.1 million viewers, the most ever for a basketball game on cable. It was also the top show of the week in Atlanta, with 346,000 viewers.
