5/15: Keyshia Cole spinoff show set for BET

BET has announced a spinoff to its Atlanta-based reality program “The Keyshia Cole Show: The Way It Is,” which ended its successful run last year after three seasons. It’s called “Frankie & Neffe” and will debut August 18.
Frankie, Keyshia’s troubled mom, and Neffe, her alcoholic sister, became stars on her own show, often overshadowing the R&B star with their arguments, tears and basic camera-friendly antics. Honestly, Keyshia herself wasn’t that exciting from a reality show standpoint.
Thanks to Frankie and Neffe, the show became one of BET’s most successful original series ever. The most recent episode, the finale of the third season, in December, 2008 drew 2.1 million viewers. (While sizable, that was down from a peak of 2.9 million for season two finale in December, 2007.)
Loading ...Producer James DuBose said “everyone has a Frankie and Neffe in their family,” so they are very relatable. The show just wrapped taping this past Wednesday here in metro Atlanta and is set for eight half-hour episodes. “This will show their growth and independence in their personal lives,” he said. The pair now live in Norcross.

The show itself has helped Frankie and Neffe because it has given them enough fame that they can now generate income via appearances. (And the show itself pays them an undisclosed amount of money, too.) They also received a major financial leg up from Keyshia, who will not be on the new show as she busies herself with her own musical career.
Will either Frankie or Neffe carve out their own careers down the road outside of being on a reality show? Not clear.

Christy, there’s already “WET” (White Entertainment) TV. It’s called ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, CW and any other major TV network.
And black college (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) were created, because white people didn’t want blacks in their institutions of higher learning. When you can’t go down your desired path, you CREATE one! Hence, BET, HBCUs, etc.

To everydayjane: no, but it should have been. To James: WET would also show tractor-pulls, land-scam infomercials focusing on Montana and Wyoming, and the Meth-Lab of the Day. Videos not just by Britney, but by Toby Keith, Pat Boone, Enya and Anne Murray. Lots of ads for riding lawn-mowers, golf shirts and lawn jockeys…

Last week a story aired about a community taking back their neighborhood by walking the streets every night. So I ask what are you doing to reduce crime in your area? kewlazfk i agree with u we do need a better rold model for our childern to watch and look up to, because if we dont they will end up like neffie and frankie. i dont like that the producers support ignorance than supporting a “tyra banks, oprah, or even pastry girls” role model but drama ia drama. and for christy if u really want a WET look at the country station if u like to see a brother and sister marry everyday and thats is your progative or better yet bam and his clan is good enough but your right,we blacks do kill and murder and crime rate is up but we dont eat little childern or bury our kids alive or eve kill our kids just to go and party, or even got o a hotel and blow it up or shoot up a school or even drive a plane into a building and im not talking about 911.

I think I watched every episode but I think Frankie & Neffe should come out with their own show it would be interesting 2 watch. Well keyshia I know your on tour right now.
