I must say I am very happy to have another option to listn to in my car if I dont have a CD or an Ipod on hand. Q100, Dave FM, and 96.1 and 100.5 just dont cut it. I just hope they play new alternative music, and not the old 90's rock mixed in as we already have that music, and listened to it for years. We want NEW alternative rock to listen to.

Really glad 99X is back. Score one for the little guys. Now we need to hear some Muse, Modest Mouse, Depeche Mode, The Killers, Radio Head...as well as the Cult and of course, Rage Against the Machine. Around lunch we could have the "retro patio" which would be a loose imitation of the retro-plex. And would love to hear Jimmy Baron back on the air...

Please no more Nine Inch Nails, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Saliva, Seether, REM, or the same Pearl Jam and Jane's Addiction songs! Play better stuff and people will listen. Hunt down the "Billy Talents" and "Dexter Freebishs" of the area and play them and people will listen. No more whiny, politically charged, slow paced, emo rock. Maybe you could post all the songs you played for the day at the end of each day and we could all give them a thumps up/down vote. If something got a 80% down vote....NEVER PLAY IT AGAIN!

I remember when 99X was so new they were asking listeners to bring in cool records to add to their playlist...

Then I remember when groups like Dave Matthews and Better Than Ezra suddenly went mainstream, and 99X had to get weirder and edgier. That's when I stopped listening.

I didn't think they EVER played R.E.M. To the alternative crowd, the boys from Athens sold out in 1988 when they signed with Warner Brothers, and they're like, what, fifty?

I HATE what the Dickey Bros have done to the landscape of Atlanta radio. But I do have to give them credit for being brilliant businessmen.

Q100 was becoming successful and needed a bigger signal to really take the station to the next level. 99X was flailing and bloated with having to carry the salaries of some legacy jocks that were getting paid the same or more than they were when the station was highly successful.

Sending 99X to online exile allowed them to dump the expensive jocks while still keeping the 99X name around for 'brand' recognition. Fifteen months later, bring it back to the airwaves at a much lower cost, but with the name everyone knows.

Seems kind of odd that they skewed 'Atlanta's Rock Station' so far into 99X's playlist. Are they trying to prepare us for 99X to move to 100.5 on the dial? Test the waters with 99X on a weak signal. If it's successful move it back to a bigger signal. Sending Atlanta's Rock Station to 97.9 and maybe back to actual ROCK? Wonder where TRG fit in?

Just my $0.02.

I know 99-X is a heritage station and everything but it really makes no sense to call this thing 99-X when there at 97.9. I mean why not call it something that fits more of it's location like 97-9 The X, 98-X, or even mayby 97-X. I just think radios getting a little out of hand by doing these kinds of things. Oh well I'm just one voice...
