3/6: Law firm seeking $87,176.91 from Sheree Whitfield in unpaid fees

Bravo may have to rename this show “The Legal Woes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Sheree Whitfield recently dismissed an appeal that sought alimony from her ex-husband Bob Whitfield, saying the former NFL player was now broke.

Now Sheree herself is being sued for more than $87,000 by her former legal representative for the divorce, Levine & Smith. The complaint, dated Feb. 2, 2009, and filed at the Superior Court of Fulton County, states that Sheree Whitfield owes $69,343.98 in principal going back to May 10, 2006. Interest on the unpaid amount, based on a monthly interest rate of 1.5%, is $17,832.93 through January 31, 2009, according to the filing.

According to the complaint:

“Defendent’s refusal to pay said debt as agreed constitutes an act of bad faith and has caused the Plaintiff unnecessary trouble and expense, thereby entitling Plaintff to an award of its expenses of litigation, including reasonable attorney’s fees in an amount to be proven by the evidence …

3/5: Breaking news–Jewel, Nancy O’Dell injuries force them out of “Dancing With the Stars”

Breaking news from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”: Both Nancy O’Dell (torn meniscus in the knee) and Jewel (fractured tibias in both lower legs) are out. News of who will replace them are to come Monday. Rumor has it that Holly Madison from Playboy’s “Girls Next Door” will be one of the replacements. Will they have time to get a second one ready to go?

3/5: A brief interview with Alec Baldwin for his TCM Essentials gig

I caught up with Alec Baldwin while he was taping “The Essentials” for Turner Classic Movies as co-host with film historian/guru Robert Osborne. He flew in Atlanta in mid-January and taped at Turner Network Studios in Midtown.

He would only talk about TCM and films, nothing about “30 Rock” or anything personal. He was clearly doing this as a favor to TCM. And after six minutes or so, he was back to work. He definitely wasn’t “on” in terms of his talk-show persona, goofing around with Leno or Conan. He kept it serious and on the level.

On Saturday evening on TCM, he and Osborne will talk about what makes the 1935 Marx Brothers film “A Night at the Opera” special. Fresh episodes (27 total) will air through early 2010.

Q: How did you get involved with “The Essentials”?

A: I’ve been a guest programmer. I did a tribute to Gene WIlder for TCM… I’m a huge fan of the show, a huge fan of Bob. A lot of networks have migrated from older films. TCM is one of the few …

3/5: Morning Mash with Martha Stewart in Atlanta, Miley Cyrus in town, Bachelor redux

-Check out “The Martha Stewart Show” on WXIA-TV today at 2 p.m. where the show will be 100% Atlanta centric. Here’s what the publicist wrote to me:

First, Martha takes you behind the scenes of the extraordinary Georgia Aquarium for a look at some spectacular sea creatures. Then, it’s back to the studio for a visit from hilarious Atlanta native Kenan Thompson of “Saturday Night Live.” Plus, chef Joe Truex of popular midtown-Atlanta restaurant, Repast, shares his recipe for delicious crab cakes infused with mouthwatering Asian flavors — it’s a show sure to bring out the Southerner in us all.

-Q100’s Bert Show got Miley Cyrus in person this morning first at about 7:30 a.m.. Bert told her the only other act who had as thorough a “security check” at the building was 50 Cent. She later did a breakfast at Star 94’s Morning Mess. (There was no media allowed to these events, which is why I didn’t go.) Bert said she acts like someone who is 28. She told a story about a woman at a mall …

3/4: Morning mash with Bachelor ratings, Frank Ski, Miley Cyrus

“The Bachelor” ratings went through the roof Monday night. Jason Mesnick drew the largest finale numbers for the show in five years. The “After the Final Rose” ceremony had even bigger numbers than the actual two-hour finale. The finale brought in 15.5 million viewers and 5.4 rating among 18-49. The post-show special, in which Mesnick changed his mind and switched women, drew a whopping 17.5 million and 6.7/16 in the 18-49 demo. Locally, the show drew 440,000 viewers, and 540,000 for the after show special. Those are not quite “Idol” level numbers but incredibly good numbers nonetheless.

Jason told People he is “not proud” of how he went about things. But ABC must be thrilled!

-V-103’s Frank Ski has been given an 11Alive Community Service Award. The award will be presented on April 1, 2009 at the 34th Annual 11Alive Community Service Awards dinner at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel. He’s one of 11 annual winners.

-There will be dueling Miley Cyrus promotions at Q100 and …

3/3: Financially troubled WRFG-FM well exceeds $20,000 goal in pledges

Good news for WRFG-FM: in six days, the station raised its modest goal of $20,000 in pledges. Board president Heather Gray said as of Sunday night, the station had reached $32,000, including $25,000 in guaranteed credit card payments. You can still pledge through Wednesday at the Web site www.wrfg.org.

The station is continuing its emergency pledge drive through Wednesday. On Tuesday, Gray said on top of that, the station received an additional $8,000 from a donor who didn’t want to be named.

WRFG-FM (89.3) has lived on a shoe-string budget since the early 1970s, airing an unusual mix of “progressive” political talk and music mostly unheard on any commercial station in town (bluegrass, world, reggae.) Gray said the station survives on just $300,000 a year and two paid employees. The station already holds three regular pledge drives.

WRFG-FM (89.3) is in financial trouble and is seeking $20,000 from its listeners. Should the station:

  • get the money and keep …

3/3: Local charity Stand Up For Kids links up with wrong celebrity on “Celebrity Apprentice”

Keith Sanders, the national director of corporate development for Atlanta-based charity Stand Up For Kids, was psyched last summer to hear a celebrity on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” had latched on to his volunteer group, which helps homeless and street kids.

Unfortunately for him, that celebrity was washed-up comic Andrew “Dice” Clay.

Sanders watched with dismay as Clay was eliminated on the very first show Sunday before 8.8 million viewers. Clay was his usual absurdist self, complaining about a lack of bagels while waiting, refusing to make cupcakes because it wasn’t cool enough for him, then talking his way out of the game in front of Trump. (Former Atlantan Herschel Walker and current Atlantan Tionne “T Boz” Watkins survived.)

“Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay,” Sanders told me Tuesday, “was just being Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay. He makes no apologies for it.”

But it also meant his charity group didn’t get any mention at all on the NBC show. He hopes his group will get some …

3/3: Morning mash: The Bachelor, 24, Jimmy Fallon

So much happened on TV last night, I decided to just provide some links here.

-The Bachelor Jason Mesnick flip flopped last night, first picking Melissa on the show, then opting for Molly in the post-show, dumping Melissa on TV. Classy! There will be more about it tonight on ABC. I know Newnan’s DeAnna Pappas made a much anticipated appearance. But she did not beg him back. Rather, she told him she should have picked him in the first place, that she followed her heart and it didn’t work.

-Jimmy Fallon launched his new late-night show, replacing Conan O’Brien. He didn’t embarrass himself in his first effort.

-U2 is performing all week on Letterman to promote its new album out today.

-Instead of “The Bachelor,” I watched the two-hour “24″ last night. (I’ve long given up on “Heroes.”). It was ridiculous but fascinating, nonetheless, involving incredible amounts of dead people and a kidnapping of the President at the White House. Yes— this African dictator found a way to get …

3/3: Kim Zolciak claims her Web site “hijacked” by former publicist, who says he wasn’t paid

Duluth resident and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” participant Kim Zolciak is generating headlines now thanks to a battle she’s having — not with Sheree or Lisa — but a former publicist.

Jonathan Jaxson, a self-described Atlanta publicist who repped Zolciak for a brief time, has accused the reality show star of not paying her bills, filing a lawsuit last week for breach of contract.

Zolciak in turn filed her own lawsuit Feb. 25 accusing him of “hijacking” her own official Web site and posting “negative and scurrilous information” about her on the site in retaliation.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge John Goger Friday gave Zolciak a temporary injunction asking Jaxson to take down what he wrote last week until the two sides mediate the issue.

Last week, Jaxson posted a note on www.kimzolciakonline.com saying the “Site down to due Non-Payment. This site will be ‘non active’ due to failure of payment and a pending lawsuit against Ms. Zolciak.” As a result of the injunction, …

3/2: Atlanta Braves move to Project 9-6-1 from 94.9/The Bull

What impact will the Braves being on Project 9-6-1 have on the station?

  • It won’t make a difference
  • It’s a distraction. Give me music!
  • It’s value added for me. I will listen to the station more as a result.

The Atlanta Braves are moving on the FM dial back to 96.1 after two years on country station 94.9/The Bull. The Braves had been on 96rock prior to that for a couple of years. The station is now called Project 9-6-1, which plays rock.

The Braves will continue to air on 640/WGST-AM, too.

Clear Channel also said the Braves will air 52 Braves games on Viva 105.7 on Tuesdays and Sundays in Spanish.
