In 1989, before I left Atlanta, I donated to WRFG my entire collection of rare CAEDMON Spoken Word recordings as well as a great number of classical, jazz, and other LPs. I have photos of a WRFG staffer hauling them off in his station wagon (no SUVS back then). I wonder if any of this wonderful material was ever used on the air. "Jane" in an earlier comment, claims that the WABE-fm has "good business sense". That certainly wasn't the case when I worked there in the eary 1980s. The station was shamefully run and, in my estimation, staffed by many incompetents and sloths.

JANE- WRFG is a listner supported radio station. Where else are they supposed to get support from. They don't take money for advertisers that way they don't have to be accountable to big business. They are accountable to the people. If you really want to see change get off this message board and take you butt down to 1083 Austin Ave. and work with the station. They can always use volunteers!!!!

I like WRFG but their management sucks. They should be ashamed of themselves and fired. Any organization who can't hold its own during this economic downturn don't deserve to be in business. They only want to beg from the listeners who many are unemployed and don't have money to give to a flailing radio station. Unfortunately, WRFG is always in crisis mode. They seem to thrive own it. It is not fair that they cannot afford to pay their two employees. That's shameful. The jocks are all volunteers but the management cannot be trusted enough to even pay the utility bill, rent bill or staff. WRFG needs to give the station over to someone who has good business sense like WABE. These people are a joke. I wonder how can they sleep at night. The station is a historic institution in Atlanta and does not deserve to be ran as a poorly managed dump.

Big Al said: "Typical loser liberal commie station."

Typical knee-jerk comment from people who suckle to the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity and the other disinformative bile polluting terrestrial radio. Just because they don't play Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The U.S.A." doesn't mean they're commie.

WRFG is a nice alternative to the same old boring radio that commercial radio is. You can listen to one commercial station here in Atlanta and then go to New York, LA, Chicago, etc and hear the same
thing. Its like going to McDonalds. WRFG bring unique and local programming where local artists especially the Blues can be heard. Nobody would probably know about Sean Costello with out WRFG because you would never hear him on another station.

WRFG is one of the most wonderfully unique stations I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Even if its politics are too "commie" for you, there is no other station that plays the diversity of programming that WRFG does. It is worth your donation if for no other reason than the 4 hours of blues every morning. I even know some Republicans who like blues.
