Martha Zoller moves from WDUN-AM to new talk station 103.7

Martha zoller

Martha Zoller, the female conservative talker, has left her long-time home at WDUN-AM to the more accessible FM dial at new talk station FM 103.7 in Gainesville.

Zoller, who can be seen each Sunday on “The Georgia Gang” and frequently does guest appearances on Fox News and CNN (until CNN banned radio hosts a couple months back), said she moved because it was simply a better opportunity she couldn’t turn down. Naturally, she gets more cash and more potential audience with a bigger, clearer signal.

She is happy where she is although she has yet to get a gig in metro Atlanta besides a weekly “best of” on 640/WGST-AM Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. “I’m a Gainesville gal,” she said. She has a network of 11 stations listening to part of her show, which airs from 9 to 11 a.m. on FM 103.7 starting today.

Zoller worked at WDUN for 15 years, 13-plus full time.

103.7, the new FM talk station, launched in August. Zoller will be its local host. The others on air include Neal Boortz (11 …

Neal Boortz inducted into Radio Hall of Fame over the weekend

boortz_instory

Atlanta’s own Neal Boortz was feted by the National Radio Hall of Fame on Saturday in Chicago.

The syndicated host, who mostly works out of WSB-AM studios here, spoke a bit about the award on his show this morning. He said many years ago, when he had lost a Marconi Award (another prestigious radio award), Rush Limbaugh emailed him and told him when Boortz won the National Hall of Fame honor, Limbaugh would induct him.

Boortz earlier this summer was given said award so he contacted Limbaugh and reminded him of his promise. Although Limbaugh had an annual golf outing with buddies this past weekend, he flew up to Chicago for the evening just to induct Bootz before going back to golf.

Here’s part of what Limbaugh said:

I am here to introduce and induct Neal Boortz into the Radio Hall of Fame. Many people are saying, ‘Why you?’ … he’s on 230 stations. He’s been a radio pioneer. He’s one of the class practitioners of what we do. He puts forth the best reputation, a true radio radio …

October Arbitron ratings winners: B98.5, Kicks, Bull, WRAS-FM

After an incredible run of rising ratings, V-103 finally fell back a bit in October but its numbers would be the envy of any other station in town. Frank & Wanda still take home a whopping 18 percent of the 18-34, morning audience, down from 20.6 percent a month earlier.

There were a few stations that cheered the fall’s arrival.

B98.5 had its best numbers all year, with a 5.9 percent share among all listeners, a solid fourth place. And Christmas hasn’t even started yet!

Country radio fans keep on flocking to both Kicks 101.5 and 94.9/The Bull. Kicks had its best numbers of the year, tied for fifth among 25-54 and sixth among 18-34 year olds. Its numbers have risen an incredible six months in a row.

The Bull has also seen its ratings rise consistently and is now tied for eighth among 25-54 and seventh among 18-34 year olds. Its Jason Pullman and Kristen Gates morning show actually beat Cadillac Jack and Dallas McCade among 18 to 34 year olds for the first time.

The final …

Bone Voyage – In part one of a three part cross-over, Las Vegas CSI Ray Langston comes to Miami to help Horatio (r: David Caruso) and the team with a brutal murder case with ties to Las Vegas, on CSI: MIAMI, Monday, November 9th (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network

There have been jokes for years that “CSI” would keep morphing beyond its current three incarnations. You know, “CSI: Bismark” and “CSI: Piscataway.” That hasn’t happened. Nonetheless, “CSI” has proven to be a sturdy, albeit aging, franchise for CBS.

“CSI: NY” has been retaining most of its audience after six seasons, averaging 13 to 14 million viewers. “CSI: Miami,” in its eighth season, used to be far bigger but has since seen its numbers slip to about the same level.

The original “CSI” has seen an especially steep decline since William Peterson left season. Last year, the show averaged 19 million viewers. This season? 15.5 million.

So the “CSI” brass has created the “trilogy” crossover week …

George Lopez interview to push TBS’s new talk show November 9

LopezTonight

One key to a successful talk show host is likability. On that front, George Lopez fits the bill for Atlanta-based TBS’s first foray into the scrum that is the talk-show world.

Lopez is brash, but not arrogant. He can be edgy but not too edgy. He’s approachable but not dull. And he isn’t afraid to tout the fact he’s the first Hispanic-American with a talk show in primetime. In the end, he hopes to make a splash along the lines of Arsenio Hall two decades ago.

That won’t be easy given the crowded environment he enters. Already, Jay Leno is now eating up five prime-time hours a week on NBC to less-than-enthralling results. Wanda Sykes launched her own weekly Fox talk show this past Saturday. And Mo’Nique began her own a few weeks ago here in Atlanta for BET.

His show, which tapes in Los Angeles and will air at 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, competes with Comedy Central’s double shot of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, E!’s Chelsea Handler, Mo’Nique and part …

Project Runway: Three is the magic number

I don’t guess anyone is really surprised that Christopher and Gordana went home tonight. Christopher’s been on thin ice for a while now — and Gordana always seems like she gets really close to what to the judges want but always comes up short. Still, it was sad to see them go because they were both so hot for Bryant Park.

Last week, commenter My Name correctly predicted that those two were ripe for ouster. Good call.

I did like this art challenge, though — pure inspiration from something beautiful, the J. Paul Getty Museum. I wish the designers had more challenges like this, because I believe that’s how designers truly are inspired, rather than making a party dress out a divorcee’s old wedding gown.

Carol Hannah (antique bed) – sleek gold dress with bias-cut hem and braid detail

Irina (painting of two women) – drapey seafoam green dress with cutout sleeves (she had a rare misstep by almost including a fur wrap with her diaphanous design)

Christopher (rock fountain) – …

‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ reunion part 2 recap: wake me when it’s over!

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion, part two, proved that Bravo did not need a part two.

The fundamental problem is last year’s reunion was such a blockbuster, there was virtually no chance they’d be able to match or exceed it. And they didn’t. The women were downright staid, attempting to be dignified. If we wanted dignified, we’d watch “Masterpiece Theatre.”

The first hour last week did have a few revelations. The second? Not much. One: Kim Zolciak stayed in tune during the chorus of “Tardy for the Party” but struggled with the verses when she attempted the song live. And she had no particular rhythm on stage. She also denied being a stripper. Rather, she said she was a waitress at the Cheetah and got good tips. (True? Not true? Who knows?)

I did enjoy the pursed lips and sour looks on the faces of NeNe Leakes and Lisa Wu Hartwell while Kim sang. Then they proceeded through gritted teeth to say it was fun and had a good beat. That’s like Paula Abdul saying the lousy …

Actor Josh Duhamel (formerly of ‘Las Vegas’) cover boy on People and Us mags

fergie cover

Being Fergie’s hubby certainly has its perks but if you allegedly cheat on her with an Atlanta stripper, well, you might just end up on the covers of both People and Us magazines.

That’s what happened to Josh Duhamel, best known as a lady’s man on the NBC show “Las Vegas” from 2003 to 2008. I enjoyed that show, a guilty pleasure along the lines of “The Love Boat.” It was never a huge hit but it had its goofy fun moments. And Duhamel played the strutting male eye candy role well.

I have to say it must have been a slow gossip week for both Us and the more respectable People magazines to make this their cover story. (I guess Jon and Kate didn’t do enough squabbling.) Both mags were effectively following up on the National Enquirer breaking story a week earlier.

I picked up both hard copy magazines today at Publix. Most folks I’ve spoken to seem to have only the dimmest awareness of who Duhamel is but most have seen Fergie quite a bit thanks to her solo and Black Eyed Peas hits …

Bob Whitfield bites back; Kim Zolciak shows her trivia prowess

With the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” sputtering to its season two finale tonight on Bravo with part two of the reunion show, here are a couple of juicy bits from the Web.

-Sheree Whitfield’s ex-husband Bob Whitfield recently spoke to a radio station about her. He started out nice but then got vicious.

“I wish her the best . At the end of the day, we got to get our stuff resolved, however you want to call it, for the kids.

He noted that his biggest show was the Super Bowl in 1998, far bigger than the 3 million viewers who catch new episodes of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” every week. (If you count repeats, about 13 million viewers caught an episode of the show last week.)

“I’m happy she’s doing something,” he said.

He then got harsh: “Quit trying to trash me and using my damn last name. I’m the mad scientist and created Frankenstein! I put that nose on her! I put those breasts on her!”

Three of the housewives attempted to do trivia with Jay Leno last night. Naturally, Kim …
