Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich are out. U.S. Reps. Paul Broun and Tom Price have formally begun pondering their futures, now that U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss has decided to step out of their way.
But here’s another name that’s only just surfacing: That of Sonny Perdue, modern Georgia’s original Republican governor.
“The governor is really concerned about the current course of the country, and is very much analyzing today’s news,” a close associate said this afternoon.
Consider the potential: Perdue presided over a pretty good economy, he has immediate statewide name Id, he’s had three years to put his family affairs in order, and he’s already taken on Grover Norquist.

Jim, ‘perdue presided over a pretty good economy’?
Where were you living when he was Governor?
All measures have been nothing but ’ski slope’ graphs since he took office!

Don’t we have enough incompetent crooks in D.C. already ? When will the Republicans learn that they have to restore integrity and respect to the brand rather than to further tarnish a barely recognizable name and philosophy ?

It’s uncertain who will run yet, but one thing is for certain:
Former Speaker Terry Coleman is obviously a darling of the ultra-liberal AJC….
The AJC yanked down the link showing him in court for packing a pistol at Hartsfield so fast it made my head spin!

Wally; Go forth and campaign against Max Cleland as is your right, but you are a venomous, moronic internet troll. I was the primary action officer as a Major for his visit to the Republic of Korea and US Forces Korea in the late 90s and he was an intelligent and thought provoking senator as you would hope somebody on the SASC was. By your diatribe, I assume you can match the Silver Star and Bronze Star he earned in Vietnam. You did do time in Vietnam, right? BTW, I’ll cancel your worthless rear end out because I will campaign just as hard for him if he runs.

I will tell ya why.He is a lying cheating womanizing drunk soldier that dropped a grenade and thought that would be enough to be viewed as a ‘Hero”. Phooey! The people of this state know of Cleland, all the facts will come back up again, and we all will see him for what he really is” a crippled coward”

The Republiacn will win so it makes no difference.
And you can bet your last dollar that no matter how “conservative”, the individual will LOVE farm subsidies…
He will cry about individual welfare but embrace corporate welfare.
As much as many call Chambliss a RINO or whatever, he has voted 95 percent plus or more with the party, so there will not be much change…. Except for window dressing and rhetoric

Same old people, the usual retreaded suspects. What is the matter with getting somebody with a great general appeal, with a good voice, great and educated rhetoric and an ideology in keeping with the self determination and self reliance upon which this nation was built? Have we become so corrupt we can’t look beyond the four corners of the box of politicians that are already bought and paid for?

TD; I don’t care for character assassination from either side especially for someone who served. I voted for Sen McCain and I cannot imagine what it must have been like to endure what he dealt with as a POW. That said, I have watched him in action in the Senate and have seen him eviscerate witnesses in SASC hearings for sport. He just seems mean spirited, but maybe that comes with living in a cage for years. I don’t know. I never sensed his colleagues or his staff particularly liked him – they certainly respected his service and his experiences, but he just has a rep as an ornery SOB.

You haters tat get your information from historians like Ann Coulter and use Saxby Chambliss ies to run down Max Clelland, well, you’re why Georiga is known as such a backwater.
Max Clelland has served with distinction, both in Vietnam and his many years in government. He fights for veterans, which McCain doesn’t do. McCain got his shot at flying fame because he’s the son and grandson of admirals, not from merit. Crash as many planes as he has, and you wouldn’t fly in Vietnam, unless strings were pulled.
It was the Bush GOP crowd that convinced South Carolina to not vote for him becasue he has a colored child (true).
Unlike Honorable and electable Max Clelland, McCain tried to destroy the country by selecting that grifter Sarah Payin’ Palin as second in command for America. You betcha’ that’s what he’ll be remembered for, and for dumping his first wife when she was disfigured from a car wreck, and marrying money, and his psycho statements on Sunday talk since–competing with Lindsey for biggest crazy commentor of the day…. Mr. Clelland will be remembered with honor, despite Karl grifter Rove and Ann Coulter.
GO GOP, right down the drain.
